Ask anyone what comes to mind when they think of SCUBA diving, and you’re likely to get a wide variety of responses. It’s a pretty good bet that Vancouver, British Columbia is not what first comes to most people’s minds. But Vancouver is actually well-known for its selection of dive sites, wherein you can observe over 200 species of marine animals, like Giant Pacific Octopus, nudibranchs, sea stars, tube worms, corals, jellyfish, and so many more. The area known as Whytecliff Park has been protected as a Marine Preservation Area since 1993, resulting in a diverse population that is largely unafraid of divers. No boats are allowed here, and of course, nothing may be taken from the area. Check out this video showcasing the unique beauty of these cold-water ecosystems.
