Marine biologists are not born, they’re created. A person may be born with the burning desire to learn all things marine, but desire alone is not sufficient to become one of the accomplished scientists that are responsible for studying and improving ocean ecology. In addition to classroom study and poring over textbooks, marine biology consists of hands-on training, which is not only an eye-opening experience for students as to what’s in store for their futures. This video demonstrates a day in the life of one young woman who participated in a scientific excursion to Belize with College of the Atlantic to study tropical ocean ecology.
