I have used this on 4 dives so far, and it has performed great. Measured depth equal to analog gauge, and the safety stop timer and Decompression warnings were spot on. My dive buddy had a DC that was 3-4 times the cost, and the numbers were exactly the same. The face was easy to read, and simple to understand.

I bought 2 of these (one for a friend). I have used many DCs since they first came out back in the 80s. This one is a decent solid, EZ to use wrist DC. Sturdy, reliable, cost effective. I work as a traveling DM, Instructor and compressor/watermaker/Nitrox engineer/tech and do a ton of diving. Even If you want to hang one of these on your BC as a backup to a console that have become popular. All good. It has everything needed ( less Tech diving) for sport diving through DM and instructor. Shipping was fast, came in perfect condition, works great, I recommend this to anyone who wants a dive computer. Works good for beginners or advanced divers.

I purchased the SMART based with my satisfaction with the Puck Pro, which I continue to use as a backup. I wanted a computer that would double as a watch on dive trips, and this certainly fits that description. It is comfortable with a sharp display that works well above and under water - day or night. It has the basic Mares dive computer algorithm and functions - similar (but not always identical) to the Puck Pro. I'm strictly recreational, and the SMART displays the data I want in an uncluttered and readable format. I also like the battery saving ability to turn off the display if you're not going to use the SMART in between trips. What's not to like? The band is perfect for the wrist, but it didn't come with extensions to use over a wet suit. I pulled my 3 mm wet suit sleeve back a bit, but that might not work with a heavier suit. The alarm isn't loud enough for me to use it to wake up to. There is also a glitch that makes it tricky to set a second time zone. Finally, you have to open the case to replace the battery; Mares recommends sending it back to a service center but does sell a kit if you want to try it yourself (contrary to their advice.) Overall, I'm pleased and recommend the SMART.

It was my first time using a computer after about 12 dives. I really liked It. I could see clearly underwater all the info It had during the dive. I chose this model because It looks like a watch and It doen't disappoint. It can be used as a watch no problem.

Love the watch and love the freediving settings I worked on a lot of different ships and this one worked the best. Only downside is I’m trying to find replacement parts and having issues with the band and few screws for battery and band

Likes: cost, ease of functions, style, fit. Ease of use. Dive record. Dislike: visibility, especially during night dives. Yes, it does have a backlight function, but who wants to stop what you're doing to press a button?

Overall I like the computer it's the right compact size and has all the features I want without any frills getting in the way. I live on a sailboat in the South Pacific so free diving is part of daily life. I'm also a PADI dive master and the computer has all I need for air and Nitrox. That said I have found problems with the software. After freediving the manual says it will lock for up to 8 hours depending on depth before allowing Scuba. 24 hours after freediving it was still locked and wouldn't allow me to switch to Scuba. I had to reset with the "1234" code. On the other hand after Scuba diving a 12/24 hour lock is set until you can free dive, similar to flying. This works well and it keep me from freediving after Scuba.Another software issue I have found is the optional deep safety stop. I don't know the specifics of when the computer calculates a deep stop. I do know that the option is ON and after 120 foot dive for 10 min I came up to 60 feet. No deep stop was ever prompted.

I thought the dial would be much bigger. It’s only the size of a wrist watch so I returned it.

Great computer. Very sleek. Functional and has never failed me. I like how you can change the battery and set various tables depending on how liberal of a diver you are.

Have been diving this computer for 2 years and it is easy to use and provides all the info you need to dive Nitrox. Relatively easy to program. I wish it had user configurable depth and dive time alarms. I am a photographer and like to set a depth alarm 5' above the maximum depth I have planned. Same for dive time. The manual is not really as useful as the manuals I am used to from Suunto for understanding the Nitrox functions. It appears to only track CNS oxygen toxicity and not pulmonary oxygen toxicity. Given the type of diving I do this probably not an issue. I like desktop application for this computer.

This was my first dive computer. It was very easy to use and I like that it is smaller in size.

Let me clarify, best starter computer with a great price for Scuba and freediving. You can buy an additional cable for PC linking. The dive computer seems tough, has a sleep mode, is a great size for a watch, and does what it needs to do. Ive made 40 dives with it and its great.

Lots of bang for the buck with this dive computer! Not overly large but it is easy to read and could even be worn as an everyday watch. The information displayed is customizable - to a degree - but it is more than adequate for recreational diving. The plastic computer interface is somewhat problematic, however. This is a plastic clip which has a USB cable allowing it to be connected to a PC. This does NOT clip securely to the watch, and I usually have to hold it in place with my fingers while the data uploads, but this is no big deal. The included software (Dive Link 2) is hopeless. I was not even able to download it unless I disabled my antivirus program. After doing so I quickly deleted it as it was difficult to use and kept deleting the information on my previous dives. I chose instead to use Dive Log (for the iPhone) and Diving Log 6.0 (for the PC) These two programs interface beautifully via WiFi and work quite well. Overall I am very happy with my purchase - just be aware of the shortcomings of the plastic computer interface and included software.

I am very pleased with this dive watch/computer. I ordered without much time to fully research and compare as I had a dive trip coming up, and my computer died. So I needed a quick replacement. This watch was affordable and has all the features of a more expensive integrated computer. Only thing missing is air gauge, obviously. So paired with analog air, it was perfect. Great value!

Love it! Needed a dive computer for awhile now but didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get a good one. This one is small (easy to wear) and has all the functions I need without being crazy expensive. I use it diving in tropical oceans and even back home in Montana for high altitude dives!

I have been diving with a Suunto Viper for years, I wanted to go to the watch style computer. Dove in Mexico in January and was very happy. It was small enough to wear on the entire trip, even when not diving, which was very handy because I didn't carry my phone around with me out of country. It was simple enough to set up and use. Still very easy to see all important information when under water. Did the job I needed it to and more. I get to dive on one or two trips a year so I am not looking for anything fancy. Fore the price I would definitely buy it again.

The instruction book did not explain everything. In addition, if you make three Dives on say the 29th day, the log list your first dive as dive number 3. It lists your third and final dive as dive number 1.

I have used this watch/computer so far on dive trips to Key Largo and a liveaboard trip. Easily fit over my 3mm wetsuit. Very reliable, good looking and easy to use. I would recommend this computer to anyone looking for a value-priced watch-style dive computer.

Spent a lot of time deciding on my first dive computer. These things usually blow up a wallet, but i found the Mares Smart very economical for both the functionality and aesthetics. Design-wise, this is a watch-style dive computer and is super sporty looking and comes in a variety of colors. The dive computer itself is extremely user-friendly and I found myself being able to navigate through the functions quite easily at first without prior reading the dive manual. After reading the manual, i felt like i knew my new dive computer from the inside-out. I used the dive computer on a recent tropical dive trip on both day and night dives and did not report any difficulty using this computer. The stats also gave me everything i needed to log dives.

This has a small band, small face, and small buttons. This won't fit around a wetsuit and you not able to operate buttons with 3mm gloves on. Tropical dive computer only.

Got this to replace an older mares nemo. Easy to use 2 button design. Log gives you dive time plus start and stop times. Band fits over thicker wetsuits. Easy to read at depth. Also has a free dive mode

This computer is great. Not too big, not too small. It is easy to use and very easy to read underwater. I have tried other computers and this is the one I will be using for the next few years. I took this on a dive trip last weekend and it worked flawlessly and gave me all the info I need. I did have an issue connecting to the computer and it turned out to be a bad cable, but a new cable solved that.

Bought this as a back up computer but ended up getting a good watch as well. The crystal is clear and easy to read under water. Computer worked well with nitrox diving. The manual (as is with most computers) was tricky to get through and I actually found that it was easier to figure out the operation with just pressing the two buttons than it was to read the manual. I looked at the manual to find out what some abbreviations meant and that was about it. I liked it so much, I bought one for my wife and my other dive buddy.

Smart is the perfect example of the qualities of a good scuba diving computer. Perfectly set out display with sharp and clearly visible characters, an ergonomic profile with two buttons for very easy navigation. "Smart" is the most "intelligent" dive computer on the market.
• Crystal-clear scratch-resistant mineral glass display
• 4 dive modes: air/nitrox/bottom timer and freedive
• Multi-gas for decompression diving
• Backlight on demand
• Replaceable battery
• Available in 6 attractive colours
The Mares Smart Wrist Computer Super has a sharp and clear display, perfect ergonomics and user friendliness and is an all-rounder capable of multi gas and free diving. Quintessential: representing the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class. What happens when you add the superior sharpness of segmented characters, clarity of a perfectly laid-out display, and top it off with ergonomic advantages of two buttons? You get Smart, probably the smartest computer on the market. Smart replicates the excellent display of the Puck Pro, adding an additional button, buttons are repositioned to the side, all packaged into a much slimmer profile. On the surface, adjust your nitrox settings or view your logbook with ease. Underwater, you can manage alternate depth information (top row), completely independent from the ancillary information displayed in the bottom row. Mares finished it with a two-color strap and unique design, making this the perfect companion for your time away from diving.
The Mares Smart Wrist Computer is one of the most intuitive wrist computers on the market today. Due to its effective screen layout and simplistic two-button design, recreational and professional divers alike can enjoy this stylish and effective wrist computer. The Smart Computer features a highly readable LCD backlight display that features a scratch-resistant mineral lens. The screen is incredibly clear; it can be easily read in the middle of the day, in direct sunlight. The layout of the screen is also extremely simplistic and provides you with all the information you need on the average dive for the entirety of the dive. The display reads current depth, maximum depth, no-deco time, ascent rate, bottom time, low battery indicator, and temperature. You can even customize the audible alarms to go off when you wish or not at all. It even features a unique option to reset your residual nitrogen. Other features include: Fully altitude adjustable to 12,100' (3,700m), pre-dive planning, surface interval countdown, dive log recall, and EAN (nitrox mode). EAN mode allows you 2 gases ranging from 21% to 99% O2.
When you are out of the water the Smart computers doubles as a trendy digital wristwatch. You will be able to stay on top of your daily tasks with a calendar, stopwatch, daily alarm, dual time modes and temperature reading when you wear the computer day to day. The Smart computer also features a user replaceable CR2430 lithium battery, has a memory capacity of 36 hours, and should last up to 200 dives on a new battery. At an affordable price point, extremely simplistic interface, and usable by both professional and recreational divers, the Mares Smart Wrist Computer packs a powerful punch and should be on every diver's wrist. The Mares Smart Wrist Computer uses the RGBM Mares-Wienke algorithm, provides a depth display to 492' (150m) can be set for fresh or seawater, imperial or metric measurements and is firmware upgradable through Dive Link. The Computer comes with an owner's manual. For download interface see Mares PC Interface for Dive Link 2 (SKU: MRSPCDL2).
