If I recall correctly, the blue clip broke when we initially tried moving it to slip the flag over. The tape works fine so it's not a big deal. We like the float and flag; it stays upright.JOE P : I believe it needed to slide down to work properly as well. Dish soap. Don't need much. Takes a little work to get it under the rubber, but once you do it'll slide to what ever position you want. Very simple design is highly visible and reliable.

We bought this flag many years ago. The flag sits up high in the water and there is almost nothing to go wrong. We have used this flag several times a week for eight years. Eventually the flag disconnected from the pole and slid down. I glued it back up with a Gorilla Glue and a rubber ball. One thing that would improve this flag would be a rubber ball. It is too easy to poke an eye around a busy dive site, especially after the flag slides down the pole.

Great dive flag. Much better than inflatables. Stays together, does it's job.

This dive flag works great and I haven't had any issues with bending, the flag coming off, or any discoloration reported on other products. My only gripe about this (and it's my own fault really for not noticing when I bought it) is that it does not break down for storage. Other dive flags of this design will allow the flag post to disconnect the top half so it's easier to store. This one does not, so it takes a bit more space to store and transport. Then again, I guess you don't have to worry about losing the top half during a dive. The weighted bottom is very useful. It's also sturdy enough that you can add a small strobe or glowsticks to the flag pole for night dives. If the pole not being able to disconnect isn't an issue for you, I highly recommend this dive flag. It's much easier to see (flag higher out of the water) than the inflatable flags for example. And that's what you want as a diver - for your flag to be visible from as far away as possible. Boaters are dumb. Jetskiers are dumber. Stay safe out there!

Great Product

Great product for the price. I wish the flag was built with a little better quality, but it works just fine. The post office charged me extra for shipping but the Scuba customer care team made it right in the end. Happy with the purchase and service!

Affordable and Does its Job

Just had my first dive with this product and despite my initial hesitancy, it actually served me quite well. It's about as cheap a product as you can get, but functionally it works great. The flag is high vis and made of vinyl so it's tough. It's almost like a neon orange rather than red, which is nice because it sticks out really well. I tow it behind my Tahoe Zephyr SUP and my white EddyLine Carrabean '14 Angler and not only does it work great, it looks great too. Sure it's about as cheap as it gets, but who cares?! It works very well and for $20 you can't go wrong. Very satisfied.

Gets the job done

Bought to do inlet and river dives and it does its job well. Tows comfortably and stays upright while still being easy to transport. You will need a way to secure the flag but a good product for the price.

Great flag and float for the price.

Good flag and float. Basic ball setup. One priece pole. The flag slips over the top of the pole. You will need to tie the flag to the weight or pole somehow so it doesn't come off. Also the pole tip will wear through the flag so add some type of protector at the top. I used a red soft body electrical wire nut. Very good product and great price.

Just bought one of these

I had the same problem as another reviewer with the rubber stopper that wouldn't move; ended up injecting a little liquid hand soap under both ends of the stopper with an old plastic syringe....that's what it took to be able to move it easily

a good product it is what it is

It is difficult to pull under to get around obstacles / lines. Can be bothersome on boat dives if line isn't feed out fast enough to compensate for rate of dissent (its a little boyant). However, it works fine for rec. dives - stay up right, tows easy. make sure flag is tied to base and or float. Cheap enough I would buy again.

Being a safe diver is important as more and more people are taking to the water every year, and there is increased watercraft traffic in our favorite dive sites. Make sure to fly a flag when diving to alert watercraft operators that there are divers below! This Vinyl Dive Flag with Pole, Stiffener and Float is what you need. Flag measures 14 x 16" (35.6 x 40cm) and comes equipped with grommets for easy installation on the pole and the stiffener allows it to always fly for positive identification that divers-are-below. Float has a lead weighted bottom to avoid inverting while in use. The lead weight is equipped with an eyelet at the base for line attachment and rubber stoppers on the pole to eliminate flag slippage.
