I have about 100 dives on this bc and it is outstanding. Light weight, very comfortable and compact for travel. I did add tank strap weight pockets for added balance and buoyancy control.

I bought this BCD as a small, lightweight, travel BCD. It’s small enough that if you effectively pack your carry on, you can bring almost everything you need for a simple SCUBA setup without having to check a bag. The BCD is very functional; everything is streamlined, and very easy to use. My only complaint is that the inflation hose is just a smidge short in my opinion. But I would prefer that over too long of an inflation hose. Everything else on the BCD is easy to access and works seamlessly. Perfect BCD for travel or if you want a simple back inflate with integrated weight system!

Excellent BC all around. My regular BC is a Zeagle Escape, great BC as well, however for diving in the tropics, I'll take the Mares Magellan. Comfy, balanced and you feel like your snorkling at 110 feet! Good job Mares!!

I recommend this BCD for people who, like me, have the attitude that 'less is more'. I just finished a 24-dive trip to Bonaire with this BCD. Here's what I found out: 1) Not so easy to pack with that plate for the tank but I was still able to pack it reasonably small. 2) LOVE the fit (slightly too big without my 5mm wetsuit but fits perfectly with it; I'm 5'10", 165lbs and I got a S/M size). 3) Not so in love with the lack of D-rings but I managed. 4) Single pocket was fine for my use. 5) Back inflation: Good buoyancy control underwater but it DOES force your face into the water at the surface. People, quit minimizing that fact. It's real and other users deserve to know it. It's easily dealt with but it is, NONETHELESS, real. 6) Did not even feel the tank on my back. BUT, I would prefer the double straps for the tank instead of a single strap. HOWEVER, I did not have a tank stability problem like two other divers that had double straps. 7) Weight pockets adequately accommodated weights but I'd still like to purchase the pockets for the tank strap to balance out my weighting. 8) I REALLY put the dump valve with the cord accessible from the front of the BCD to good use. I used this valve instead of my inflator valve to evacuate the BCD. I know. Bad habit. But it worked so darned well. 9) Loved the waist strap that was tightened so easily and quickly by pulling straight out from by body on both straps. Overall, I'm very happy with this BCD and, again, I'd recommend it for those of us that prefer freedom of movement without a bunch of stuff hanging off us. This BCD will be tested further in Florida and the Red Sea over the next year. By the way, if you've never dived off Bonaire, my heart aches for you.
