C J E : what is the difference between the R095 and R195?K R J : I have the R195 as a octo. One difference is the R195 has a venturi control valve that help prevent free flow when used as a octo. It does increase breathing resistance in the Pre-Dive mode, but to me, it's really not that noticeable. Second stages can free flow easier when in the Dive setting under certain circumstances, so I leave mine in the Pre-Dive mode all the time. I also communicate this to my buddy during the predive check, but I doubt anyone would ever know the difference. I am guessing that there are other differences, but I can't tell you what they are. The R095 is a standard 3/8" thread and the aqualung is also a 3/8" thread for the low pressure port.GARY R : Yes it will. Just attach to the desired low pressure port and you should be set to go.
Shopper : can i use this with nitrox and can it be used for very cold water diving?Steve S : Yes this can be used with Nitrox, but you need to make sure the first stage you are using is nitrox ready. Also for cold water you need to make sure the first stage is sealed.CHRIS G : It probably depends on the Nitrox mix you are looking to use. Most modern scuba gear will work with up to EAN40, and manufactures typically don't list that. Beyond EAN40, you definitely need something that specically lists Nitrox up to 100% O2. As for cold water, most second stages work fine in cold water. It's the first stage that typically needs the most consideration when diving in temperatures where freezing may occur. This is an entry-level octopus, designed for emergency air sharing. If you are looking to dive in more extreme conditions, you probably want to make sure your life support gear, exposure protection, and training are all up to the task.William P : That depends on the first stage that you are using. This octo is great for both. You want to be sure you have a nitrox ready and sealed first stage.

About Scuba Pro R095 Octopus, Yellow

Scubapro's R095 is a new Second Stage Octopus featuring classic downstream valve technology, well known for safety and reliability. It's simple and robust construction offers the utmost in reliability and makes the R095 the ideal second stage for new divers and a perfect choice for deco tanks thanks to its reversible hose attachment. Pre-tuned for safe and uncomplicated use, the downstream valve opens in the same direction as the incoming airflow. To close the valve and stop the airflow, a spring counteracts the force of the incoming air. Therefore, a certain inhalation effort is always required to overcome the spring tension and open the valve.

The classic downstream valve in an all metal valve housing is featured in the Scubapro R-Series; here "R" is synonymous with robust and reliable. The octopus version combines the features of the R095 with a high visibility yellow cover and a 39" (100 cm) long yellow hose for easy identification and sharing. The R095 Octopus has a high comfort orthodontic mouthpiece and weighs 5.8 oz. (165 g).
