If you’re going to carry one, get this one so you’re actually seen. It’s huge and worth the real estate it takes up in your pocket.

Very well built, heavy construction. Have not had any issues with it since purchase. It's not a real light material, holds air very well.

Very visible compared to smaller DSMB. Very good design and roll-up mechanism. Big lift, so be careful when inflating not to get dragged up too!

Looked well constructed, but was too big to fit in my BC pocket.

I bought this for my upcoming technical diving course. Needed to get rid of the dinky recreational version and get one meant to be used. It is much larger than the small ones you buy to stick in a pocket and forget about. This is meant to do a job. So, be sure you know the dimensions and have a need/want for something this large. That said, it has a nice Velcro wrap tab and all the other features needed for tec diving. Seems very well built. Time will tell on that. No large manufacturer logo taking up space on the SMB, so plenty of space to stencil your name. The oral inflation valve is not in the picture, but it came with one. This thing is large, so I will be using the baffled bottom to inflate. This seems like a great product and compares with the ones I looked at in the over $90 price range.

I got a yellow SMB and for mine the vent plug is much higher then what is shown in the photo. To effectivly use this as a lift bag requires very long arms or the help of a dive buddy. But on the whole very satisfied with the purchase, it is very visible and that is the primary reason I got this product.

This thing is huge. Even rolled up it's big and bulky. Must have for any rescue situation. Very well built. Worth the money. Don't waste your money on anything smaller or bigger. Perfect size. Only wish they gave a pouch for it. The boat will see it, miles away. Has a strap for a torch or strobe.

Very well constructed but did not realize it would be so large when rolled up.

This is a great surface marker. Let me tell you why. First, it's HUGE, and that makes it highly visible. Second, it has several inflation options. This SMB is compatible with a low pressure inflator hose, it can be orally inflated, and it has a baffle inflation option that can be used with an octopus. Third, this SMB has an overpressure valve that prevents it from bursting if you inflate the marker underwater. Forth, this SMB has a loop with a metal ring that is great if you want to attach a reel and send the SMB up while on the bottom, or at your safety stop. A good SMB is a very important piece of safety equipment, and this one works very well. Some people may think it's a bit large, and it is. Im my opinion, that is the whole point, I want to be seen once I inflate my SMB.

I used this for open water diving in Jupiter, FL. I believe this is perfect for ocean diving. It makes you highly visible to your boat and I felt significantly safer diving with this as opposed to a much smaller safety sausage.

This buoy is functional and well made. Easy to fill. If you want to be seen on the surface, this works. Lift capability is a nice bonus, and you can release it at depth if needed. Fold it (instead of rolling it up) and you can fit it in a pocket, but it's not tiny.

First time I unrolled this baby I became the life of the party! The SMB is very rugged, easy to use, and can easily be seen even in moderate seas. It's huge when deployed and rolls up to be very compact. Also the velcro straps keep everything neat and tight. Inflation is easy and I've had no problems with anything. I've used many types of SMB's and this is one of the best. Every dive people ask where I got it.

This thing is great! Six feet out of the water and VISIBLE. Can also be used as a lift bag, oral inflator, easily deflates. Yeah, it has to be clipped to the BC and it's a little cumbersome to use one handed. But if you get separated from the boat, it's visiblity will sure be appreciated.

This thing is big. However, that is exactly what you want if you surface to find the boat nowhere in sight. I had a little trouble figuring out how to attach it to my BCD. It barely fits in one of the pockets, and not very well. I finally settled on clipping it to a carabiner on one of my D-rings down low. I don't find that it gets in the way at all. Contrary to an earlier post, it does have an oral-inflation valve that works very well. It inflates very quickly and easily. Highly recommended for remote locations and drift dives.

This is a good quality product and I bought this as a replacement for one I had that was too small. This has all the features and quality that I want in a surface buoy. One small drawback is that it borders on being a bit too large to fit in my BCD pocket comfortibly and it's too large to carry clipped to a D ring without getting in the way. I will now feel much more confident that I'll be spotted if I become adrift away from the dive boat.

This is not your average safety sausage in that it is twice the size and can serve as a lift bag (up to 50lbs). The relief valve and the anti-spill bottom with baffle are great features. If you want to be seen on the surface, you won't be missed if you use this SMB. If you don't roll it very tight, it can unravel.

A rather large and bulky item. The straps do not secure well and tend to drift if not properly stowed. Not a great feature if you want to deploy one handed or while otherwise encumbered.

I use this product every dive. Easy to inflate and stays inflated on the suface. The valve allows for inflation at depth without fear of the bag bursting.

Well constructed and easy to use. Taller than most SMBs so when it is rolled up it is about twice the size of others. I like the overpressure relief valve and the anti-spill bottom with baffle. It doesn't have an oral inflate. If you are looking for an SMB that will stand out, this is the one.

This is the safety sausage that I carry. It is an excellent surface marker bouy that will get you seen (and isn't that the whole ideaa?) It's ruggedly made and has good features such as a dump valve for air, convenient D rings, and is sealed so the air won't dump if it is accidently up-ended. I like the reflective tape on the marker as this can be important in low light or night dive situations. The unit can be attached anywhere on a BC (I keep mine in my BC pocket). It can also serve as a lift bag since it has close to 50 pounds of lift when fully inflated. In heavy boat areas it can also be attached to a line to serve as a surfacing marker as you ascend from your safety stop. Scuba Diving magazine just did an article on safety devices and for visual surface signals, this was one of the top picks. It is large, so be aware of that. But, you won't need this for every dive. I would not dive open ocean without it. The only reason I rated this 4 flags instead of 5 was due to size. The unit does not roll up quite as tightly as it could due to the rather large dump valve.

Great lift bag but rather large for a safety sausage. I very much enjoy the large tie-strap and easy to use octo-inflate. (although an oral inflate would be nice I don't miss it). Would recommend this product, just be prepared for the larger size safety tube. (8"x5" rolled)

As far as SMBs go, I haven't seen one that can beat this one for price. It has good, solid construction and nice features. The only thing it is missing is an oral inflate. Also, it is a bit bulky. It doesn't roll up as tight as it could due to the design of the purge valve, and i had to be a little creative when mounting it to my backplate, but those really aren't anything big. The important thing is that it is reliable, durable, and very easy to spot.

I use this product every dive. Easy to inflate and stays inflated on the suface. The valve allows for inflation at depth without fear of the bag bursting.
Divers are all supposed to carry a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) to comply with national dive safety standards. That nice, but your safety is important with or without standards, so the smart diver always carries a surface marker buoy on every dive. XS Scuba's Safety Marker Buoy is huge with a 7' (2.13m) overall length (6'/1.83m out of water) and a 22" (60cm) circumference. Built tough to last, Surface Marker Buoy meets military specification. Buoy is manufactured from tough urethane-backed, nylon material for durability and years of service. Buoy has SOLAS reflective tape on both sides for maximum visibility.
Surface Marker Buoy is equipped with elastic loop at top for attachment of a chemical light for night diving applications and has a stainless-steel D-ring for attachment of a slate. An overpressure relief valve with pull cord for manual release of air, a combination oral and BCD QD inflation valve with cap cover, anti-spill bottom with baffle to allow easy fill from any air device and it keeps buoy inflated until you empty it.
Buoy has an 18" (45.7cm) step-thru leg harness with stainless-steel D-ring at bottom and lift handle at top for easy retrieval from a boat or dock. Buoy rolls up to a compact size and a hook and loop strap keeps it rolled and compact when not in use. Buoy can also double as a lift bag if needed with its 50 lbs. (13.6 kg) capacity and lift straps with stainless steel D-ring at the bottom. XS Scuba's SMB is available in orange or yellow colors.
