Extreme cold water swimming

This hood has made all the difference in the world for my swim in the Puget Sound temperature that varies from 45°F to 55°F. I hade a 3 mil cap, but after 40 minutes the cold was getting to me. This 6 mil hood allows me to swim in extreme comfort. It also covers the face which eliminates the extra time required to acclimate the exposed skin to the extreme water temperature.

Not as advertised!

The hood is advertised as 6mm cold water hood, but the only panel that is 6mm thick is on the back side of the head. The rest of the hood is made out of flimsy, 2-3mm neoprene that won't keep you warm in cold water. Considering its poor and awkward fit - this XS Scuba product was heading back to the store the moment after I tried it on, and for all the reasons stated above it is a perfect candidate for "Avoid" recommendation!
