Shopper : Was wondering if I could look these through a sheath that this is not designed for or do these straps need an open area to slid into on main sheath?WILLIAM C : Yes, these dive knives rubber leg straps do need to be threaded through a slit/hole in the sheath to be secured properly against your leg. However, it is good you are getting the rubber straps though because they are depth compensating as opposed to the Velcro type. I had the Velcro type and my knife was all over the place. The rubber will stretch and contract as you descend keeping your knife in the place you put it. I replaced my Velcro with the Rubber and love them. I put them on as tight as possible (without being a turnacet) and as I go deeper they become more comfortable.PAUL V : Holes in the sheathe through which the straps can be run are necessary in order to use them.DANIEL S : Without a slot the sheath won't be secured, however depending on the sheath material you may be able to cut a path for the strap or you may have to epoxy the strap to the sheath.

Nice straps!

These are very nice replacement straps for a dive knife sheath. Thick sturdy rubber construction and the quick release buckles work very well. I would recommend this product.

Keeps Knife Secure to Leg

These rubber straps keep my knife securely attached to my leg ... They prevent the knife from flopping around like when I had my dive knife "zip" tied to my BCD shoulder strap ... it is nice to have the security of knowing exactly knowing where my knife is during my dive. the Tusa people should take note of this product and "Trash" what they provide with the Tusa X-Pert knife

More robust and functional than the original straps

Many dive knife sheaths come with stiff plastic straps that are not depth compensating, requiring the diver to readjust at depth due to suit compression. Once the diver ascends, the knife strap needs to be loosened to compensate for the suit's decompression. If the adjustment is not made on descent the knife sheath can move on the diver's leg making it more difficult to remove the knife from the sheath.

All XS Scuba knives come equipped with rubber (depth compensating) leg straps with quick-release buckles to eliminate this problem. If you need replacements for your XS Scuba knife or if you want to replace your old plastic straps with depth compensating, then this is what you're looking for. Straps are made from durable rubber and have noncorrosive plastic quick-release buckles for easy donning and doffing of your knife sheath. Straps measure 22" (55.9cm) and will fit most knife sheaths.
