Questions & Answers

SUNNY C : What is the max weight a single pocket can hold?Erik F : I easily fit a 5 pound soft weight in it.WARREN G : I’ve put 2 two-punters in it. It will hold a single 4 pounder.
Edward H : What is the orientation of the loop on the back? Does the pocket slide onto webbing vertically or horizontally? In other words, if it's worn on a BCD shoulder strap (not the waist belt), will the flap open to the top or the side?STEPHEN S : in that case, it would be horizonalANTHONY L : The pocket slides onto the tank strap so the pull strap is oriented vertically(when you're standing up). If you need to dump the weight, pull down on the strap. The top of the pocket is Velcro and will pull away dumping the weight.VADIM S : The pocket is designed to be worn on the waist belt. It opens by pulling the handle down, so the weigh will fall down (assuming you are, more or less, in a vertical position). If you wear the pocket on a shoulder strap, you will need to open it by pulling left or right. The pocket will be opened on the side and the weight will not fall down, unless you shake it or help it somehow.ALFRED G : orientation is belt style not shoulder strap, if worn on the strap it would open to the side instead of downPAT R : The pouch is orientated so the pull tab is at the top or bottom. So it is for a belt setup. If on a shoulder strap you'd pull the flap to the side.TIMOTHY P : It would release to the side. The orientation of the Velcro is such that you pull up on the tab to release the first Velcro, and then down for the weight to drop out.DAVID B : VerticalCAROLINE H : So sorry I can't answer. I have mine packed away in storage and can't remember.
Calin B : I have a scubapro litehawk bc. can i replace the accessory pockets on the side with these? Can I get a photo of how it looks in the back, i.e., where it attaches to the belt?ANA G : Yes, I have these attached to a litehawk in addition to the accessory pockets.
Jonathan F : will it work on a rubber dive belt (marseille style). or will the belt be too tick to slide these on?Steve S : Yes, this should fit a rubber belt no problem.RICHARD R : I use the pockets with a thick nylon web belt. It was a bit tight to get on, but once the belt was started through, it was fine. The pocket is stiff where the belt goes through, but it will flex. I suspect you will find it will work fine with rubber.BILLY N : I have mine attached to my BC/OMS backplate for integrated style set up. I have no reference for the type belt you are asking about. Sorry! Good & safe diving.CRAIG M : Sorry, I'm not familiar with that sort of weight belt. I use it on my Hollis backplate harness for my Megalodon rebreather. Its a nice product and works well in my application. I've never seen a rubber weight belt.RICHIE L : These fit a standard nylon dive belt .WARD M : With all the velcro there is lots of adjustability. should fit about anything.
Jon J : Can someone provide the dimensions of the pouch? Thanks.STEPHEN M : A 5 pound cast weightbelt lead fits perfectPEDRO J M : I do not have the dimensions on hand but I use 5 pounds weight and it fit like a glove. I have 2 of them in the tank strap one in each side. It work great for me because I float a lot plus the wetsuit. I use 18 pounds, 4 pounds in each pocket of my BC and 5 pounds in each pouch with my tank strap. They work great!KEVIN K : approx. 3 3/4" wide The height can be variable to adjust for the different shape weights. From 4" to 5 1/2" approx.

Not bad for the price.

I like them but I can't use on my tank strap, so I needed to buy a second strap.

Great for warm water diving

I have two of these that I used as my ditchable weight pockets on my waist webbing. Small, light weight and perfect when you are diving a 3mm or less and only need a few pounds of lead

Great for ditching weights during demonstrations

Dive with 5lbs on each side and this works perfectly. Used to have one with no quick release, but for demonstrating weight drop during pool sessions, this works great. Also use it to load up my weights after I put on the BC. Great setup.

Works great, durability not so good

The latest one ordered was a replacement for an earlier purchase, stitching unraveled after several years of use and I was concerned the weight would fall out at depth.

XS Scuba weight pockets

These pouches fit either a tank bank or a dive harness and are the perfect size for either.

Almost Perfect

Added it to a Hollis harness to help with trim. Works well but one and two pound soft weights don't stay in the pouch very well. it you need to add three or more to a location these are a good buy.

Nice Pockets.

Nice pockets. Strong Velcro keeps it closed. The pocket itself is pretty big. Says up to 5 pounds, but feels more like use 5 pounds or use solid weights only. I lost a 3 pound soft weight from the open holes opposite the enclosure. I use them on my sidemount rig to avoid using a belt, but they can easily work for other applications.

Well made

These are a good addition to your dive gear. I hate weight belts. Getting rid of my weight belt was the single most comfortable thing I've done to my kit.

Solid

Nice product, will hold five pounds, but if you were to place a single one pound soft lead weight it would fall out.

Weak

Seams started coming apart after two dives. Very cheaply made. Also, the gaps at the sides are huge- you can easily pull a 2# soft weight right out the side. The Velcro closure is pretty strong at least. Strongly NOT recommended. At the price, I guess they are ok as disposable pockets for a single dive...

Good inexpensive weight pocket option

When I replaced an older backplate and harness I decided to try these instead of the XS Scuba WB101 - Single Weight Pockets used on my other rig. Dumping weight from those pockets requires removal of weight from the top, these dump from the bottom, unfortunately doing that can be somewhat tricky. That is offset by the low price compared to weight pockets offered by Dive Rite of other tech manufacturers for backplate/harness rigs.

Great Product. Saved me a ton of $$$

Saved several hundred dollars when I bouught my BCD by buying the Scubapro Litehawk vs the Nighthawk. These pouches allowed me to add additional weight to my vest and still have the ability to quick dump in an emergency!!! Not to mention Leisure Pros quick delivery. 2 thumbs up!!

nice pocket

I got theses pockets to replace the slightly cheaper and smaller one by the same manufacturer. These pockets can easily handle 4 or 5 pound weights individually. The velcro is large and strong. They fit on a 2 in web belt and don't shift around much. All in all, they are a good product.

Exactly what I was looking for

This is what I have been looking for! I use these as "integrated" weights for my backplate and wings and they do the job well. Don't waste your money paying for a brand name integrated weight setup that will cost MUCH more. I use one of these on each side of my 2" waist strap and have plenty of room left over for a pocket and line cutter. I keep about half my weight "dumpable" with these and half in the XS Scuba tank strap weight pockets and my trim is perfect. Definitely recommend.

Does what it is suppose to do.

I use the pockets as trim weights on my tank. I use the pockets upside down for fear of inadvertent release if I get into something in a wreck.

Poor Design

strap loop is too low, weight hangs away from belt. Might work better with soft weights but I won' be using it. Not recommended.

Pretty good.

They get the job done, but I wish they came with some way to keep them from sliding around the harness. I know it can be done with keepers, I just wish it came with some. Also the pockets are only closed with velcro... I am waiting for the day I may an unintentional ascent..

Great pocket - sturdy!!

I bought these for my backplate/harness setup for tropical diving - much easier than threading weights on each dive when tanks/weights are provided and turned in after each charter. Sturdy pocket will hold 5lbs each - enough for a 3mm suit!!

Just as described

I had to see one and may try it on the front of a non-weight intigrated BC. If you do not need much weigh it looks great. It was not designed as a primary but appears to be worth it. Great for the price.

Great value, woks well

My wife and I use these weight pockets on our Dive Rite harnesses. The pockets thread easily, do not floop and hold the weights secure. It does take some effort and practice to deplouy the weights. But it is easy to get right.
