XS Scuba Phantom SL BCD

XS Scuba's popular Phantom BC, a weight-integrated, back-inflation BC, has undergone a transformation. Introducing the new Phantom SL, the BC that allows you to Spread your Lead! Does your lower back get sore while diving? Do you have trouble remaining streamlined and horizontal while swimming? Do you go through your air too quickly? Perhaps your lead weights are all concentrated in the middle of your body?

Recreational divers tend to concentrate their lead weight in the middle of their bodies. Most of the lead is in two releasable pockets on either side of the waist. If more weight is needed, it typically gets added to pockets mounted on the tank band or near the mid-section of the BC. When the diver is in the horizontal swimming position, all the lead lines up in a vertical column know as the Central Drop Zone. This pushes down on the diver's midsection. To compensate the diver tends to arch the back leading to lower back pain and additional drag moving through the water. This is inefficient and can increase air consumption.

Enjoy diving more comfortably and efficiently by spreading your lead! While it is important to keep most of your lead in easily releasable pockets, the rest of it should move forward and back. The Phantom SL (Spread the Lead) has fixed weight pockets located up high on the shoulders. Each shoulder pocket can hold 2 x 2 lbs. (0.9 kg) weight. Combine this with a set of ankle weighs and now you have Spread the Lead. Instead of a Central Drop Zone, you have front, middle and rear weight positions. New Features for Phantom SL:
Weight pockets mounted up high on the shoulders for excellent lead spreading capability. A total of 8 lbs. (3.6 kg) can now be moved forward on the diver's body. XS Scuba recommends hard weight blocks for shoulder pocket that will provide a lower profile. An internal, heavy-duty polyethylene chassis extends well into the shoulders to support the shoulder weight pockets and to keep diver's shoulders comfortable. Swivel shoulder buckles optimize the routing of the shoulder straps for a more custom fit. Enlarged thumb loops accommodate gloved thumbs to more easily pull down on the shoulder straps. Reinforcement panel on the rear of air bladder for increased durability. Increased back padding for added comfort. All-new cosmetics because we all know that you must look good to dive well! Catch n' Release weight system with 20 lbs. (9 kg) capacity for the easiest loading weight pockets. Secure your weights with visual, audible, tactile confirmation, single pull ditch for safety. Lowered tank band integrates into BC's waistband to transfer the cylinder's weight to the hips. The tank band features a stainless-steel cam buckle with external adjustment. No hard backpack allows the cylinder to stay in close, next to your body. This makes the cylinder feel lighter and much more comfortable. Drop-down right pocket can hold slates or a small flashlight. Knife mounting grommets on the left pocket. 6 stainless steel D-rings provide many attachment options.

Buoyancy control is provided by the XS Scuba Micro Inflator. This inflator mechanism uses a drift pin design, which provides greater reliability and longevity than those inflators relying upon standard Schrader valves. 3 dump valves are available: a cable-activated rapid exhaust valve at the top of the power inflator airway, a right shoulder pull dump and a lower, rear pull dump. Right shoulder and lower rear dump valves equipped with pull dump cords for easy deflation in any position. Inflator comes with a 3/8" threaded QD hose assembly. The Phantom SL has lift capacities of 25 lbs. (11.34 kg) in sizes XXS/XS/SM/MD, 35 lbs. (15.88 kg) in sizes ML/LG/XL/XXL. The BCD has a harness made from a 600D Polytek fabric throughout with a bladder made from 420D nylon. BCD is available in multiple sizes and comes with an owner's manual.
