Questions & Answers

Jay K : What are the dimensions of these fins?KAREN M : They fit the feet of a child or a woman's foot with booties or tobies up to size six. I can not give you literal measurements. The size difference is in the foot space with a general reduction of the water contact surface. Hope that helps. I'd give them a try in a pool before buying--rent a pair from a dive shop and if they work for you buy. They last years!!
SCOTT C : I wear a size 16. Will the 3X be big enough with size 16 boots? The only other brand I've read about that goes this big are the ScubaPro Jet fins sized 3XL. How do they compare?NAVID K : They will easily fit. I am a 15 extra wide and they fit me fine. Foot pocket isn't quite deep enough, but the width is definitely adequate.
GREGORY P : Are these positive or negative in terms of buoyancy? I.E. do they float or sink?Steve S : These are negatively buoyant. They will sink.BRENDA B : They do not float. I love mine for the huge foot pocket that fits over dry suit neoprene booties socks and allTOM F : They will sink.STEPHEN S : These fins are negative, so they sink. If you are taking them off and trying to get on a boat, hold on to them. If you drop one, you will have to make a dive to recover the fin. They sink fast. Good fin. They are very tough.MICAH P : negative, they are heavy fins
Shopper : I use a size 10 or 10.5. What size would you recommend me to get? I will use neoprene boots.MARK A : The pocket is small I have the same size foot get the biggest size if you don't want a fight to get them off after a dive.BRETT H : Good question. One, which I am still figuring out. I had red reviews that the sizing runs small. I wear a size 10 hard sole boot. I fit my large Daycor Panthers very well. So I ordered the XL Turtles. Foot opening was so small I couldn't get in past my toes. So I exchanged them via shipping, for 2XL. Now I have a pair that is too loose on my boots and spring heel strap. The worst thing is I am still not even close to having my foot fully seated in the fin. I dove a wreck last year and was constantly concerned about dropping a fin. On my second tank, I went back to my recreational fins with more comfort, security, and safety. I had considered trimming the opening a size XL, like I had before, a bit to get the fin to fit fully over my boot. But, then will be facing a heel strap that is way too loose again. Probably going to get rid of them. Makes no sense having them around. Almost new and can't use them. I would consider finding a shop that carries them, and do a test fit first. Hope this helps.Steve S : I would recommend a 2XL. if you don't like the fit just give customer service a call at 800.637.6880 and ask for a PFF guarantee exchange.MICHAEL D : I have a 11 shoe . I bought the Xxl. I wear it with the neoprene boot also. It fits ok. I would try the next smaller size downRICHARD M : I wear a size 11 to 11-1/2 shoe. I have the size 2XL Turtle fins and changed the straps out to 12" spring straps. The fins are perfectly comfortable in the water. If anything they take a little effort to pull off as the boot fills the pocket pretty well. I have ScubaPro XL Jet fins and they are too small for me. I also have ScubaPro XXL Jet fins which I wear with dry suit boots, and they are much much bigger than the 2XL Turtle fins. I own about 6 pairs of fins, and these are definitely my favorite. They are a slightly softer and lighter rubber than the Jet Fins. Just barely negative. Plenty of power and extremely comfortable.JOHN V : I ordered these for my dry suit and boots and needed to send them back for a larger size. I order an XL but reordered and 2XL. I wear size 11 boots with my dry suit. Wetsuit boots would probably take a smaller finCHRIS A : These run small so I would suggest getting XL. I have size 12 foot and use booties and XXL. Definitely get XL.
EGOR D : HI I'm sz 10 so what size should i take ? xl is to 10 and 2xl is from 10 to 12HECTOR A : If you tend to use booties with a sole get the bigger ones, but if you use booties with almost no sole you can get the smaller ones.. Best fins ever!! MARK A : go with the 2xl. I am also a 10 and the xl was a little smaller pocket than i like making it hard to get them off after you have been down under pressure.JOHN S : If you are only using these fins for wetsuit booties, I would stick with the XL or even the L since you are on the lower end and you could use a thinner bootie. If you are drysuiting then maybe stay with the XL. I am a size 14-15 wide with size 48 dryboots and the 2xl work well. In my opinion, the turtles run a bit bigger than the advertised size. MICHAEL F : i think 2x is the standard if you are diving in a drysuitTHOMAS P : Excellent fins. Drysuit boots might require XXL fins

love my turtles

although these are a heavier fin, I find them excellent for a quick burst. I am a safety diver and these get me to the panicking student fast and efficiently. My husband also has them to recreational diving and loves them best out of the 3 pair he has purchased. The reason they only get a 4 stars is the weight.

Big fins for big feet

I have a size 16 foot and this fin fits quite well with a 3mm shoe. Foot pocket doesn't seem as big as my Hollis F1, I have a bit of a struggle getting my dry suit boots in(size 17 converse all stars :) ) but still a good fin. Someone with a smaller boot 14-15 would work well.

I have used this fin for nearly 30 years

I am on my fifth pair of Turtles after 30 years of diving.I use these fins for basically three reasons..(1)I like a good heavy fin for drysuit diving, (2)most other fins done fit heavy drysuit boots and (3)the price is usually quiet reasonable. However, there are two shortfalls..(1)Even the largest size are a little tight for heavy attached boots and (2) the foot pockets eventually fail and rip. I should note that I do lots of drift diving in high current rivers and stop often to dig out bottles, etc. When I stop on bottom I am often in a position where I lean back onto fins and put a lot of pressure onto blades and foot pockets. Eventually any fin would fail with the abuse I put on them but Turtles hold up better than most. Actually a 4th reason I keep buying them is so that I can have a spare when I break one. Overall they are a good product if they meet you needs. Replace the straps with expanding sprind straps for ease of use with bulky drysuit and reduce chance of loss.

2XL-3XL difference?

I have these fins in both 2XL and 3XL, bought from different places. The 2XLs I have are alot more sturdy than the 3XLs that I got from leisurepro. Also both have differnt XS logos, not sure if one or the other is just old stock or if they are made this way. Either way both are excellent fins though it seems the 2XLs will last a lifetime compared to the 3s which are alot more flimsy. i got the 3XLs to accomodate my rock boots, the 2s were just a tad bit too snug, but they get their play time when im not using the drysuit.

Over 700 Dives with these fins

I am a commercial diver and underwater welder. I wear these fins about 5 times a week, swimming through rocks, barnacles, cables.....you name it. I have over 3000 dives to my name and have owned many fins. These are the best bar none. I have an unused set hanging in my closet for when my first set with over 700 dives on them finally gives way.

Love 'em

These rock, although they're negative in the water and will bring the feet down slightly without some readjustment in confined water; however, they accommodate rock boots and are wonderful for alternative kicks like the frog kick and modified flutter kick.

Great, no-nonsense fins!

I use these fins with a thick neoprene drysuit that has large, durable attached boots. My shoe size is 11, and the 3XXL Turtles fit perfectly. The fins are quite heavy, so there's no need to use ankle weights. If I was expecting to fight a lot of current during a dive, I'd probably use my split fins instead, as the Turtles might cause cramping.

I Love these fins!

These fins are like an extension of your own body-they feel very natural-best fin yet for frog kicking-In a race my slingshots would shoot me through the water faster but I have yet to dive in a race. For ultimate control, varying kick techniques, cornering in tight quarters & minimalizing silting, these are the fins to use

Excellent Product,

I have tried all types of fins, but since being recommended these fins and used them on several technical dives, I have nothing but good things to say about them. Comfortable, fit is perfect, functionality is at it's best, durable but mostly tough as hell. Love em.

Dry Suit / Wreck Fin

I use this with a dry suit for penetration wreck diving. Fins are short but powerful for tight turns. They aren't fast but stiff.. 100% rubber so the weight is good so I don't have to wear ankle weights. I use another type of fin for open water stuff..

Turtles

By BRENDA B.

I love these fins/ used them for years. Sometimes I try a pair of "newfangled" fins, but always return to TURTLES for their efficiency.

This is the original Scuba fin, with a tried and true design that has maintained its popularity. This fin is the sole choice of many combat and tactical units worldwide. The unique rubber compound allows you to achieve greater efficiency by reducing the overall weight and adding a snap back quality. The Turtle Fins all rubber construction with standard like-they-used-to-make-them metal buckles.

The vented blade design allows water to flow-through the vents on the weaker down stroke of fining, reducing pressure and providing less strain on the leg. When fining in the up stroke, due to the angle of the vent, the fin reacts as a solid blade for maximum power and propulsion.

Turtle Fins come equipped with strong and durable adjustable rubber fin straps, that have large pull tabs for easy donning and doffing and the pull tabs have eyelets to hang fins when drying or for storage. Excellent fit, comfort and propulsion in a vented neoprene rubber fin. XS Scuba's Turtle Fins are available in multiple sizes, are popular with dry-suit divers because of the very large foot pocket and are black in color.
