The 100' spool is too small to hold 100' in a "ready to dive" configuration. It comes with a bit over 100' of line, but is wound to the very edge of the spool. The problem is when you take some off to be able to access the holes you end up with much less than the 100' you thought you'd have to deploy underwater.

Works perfectly and at a great price too. The 160 is more than I need currently but I hope to need it in the future. High Viz line is great in both clear and murky waters.

Cut several yards of line off the spool and put it into use.

This is a great spool but there is so much line provided, there isn't an easy way to keep it from unraveling. Other than that, it is great!

In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didn't empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The finger spool is most often used as a gap reel or for short distance exploration. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped-off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in a double-ended bolt snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use.
XS Scuba's Finger Spools come equipped with a durable corrosion resistant 4" (10.2cm) stainless-steel double-ender bolt snap with 18-8 stainless-steel internal spring. The spool is injection-molded with glass-filled nylon for strength and long life. The line is .073" (1.86mm) #24 Hi-Viz yellow nylon 16-strand braided line with a breaking strength of 123.5 to 130 lbs. (56 to 59 kg). The XS Scuba Finger Spool is available in 3-sizes and line lengths; 60' (18.3m) measures (Dia. x W) 3" x 1" (7.6cm x 2.5cm), 100' (30.5m) measures (Dia. x W) 3" x 1.44" (7.6cm x 3.7cm) and 160' (49m) measuring (Dia. x W) 3.25" x 1.75" (8.3cm x 4.4cm).
