Questions & Answers

FARSHID T : What is the diameter of the hole where your finger goes?Miguel L : The opening is 23.75mm in diameter.
Shopper : I am concerned about this line clashing with my scuba outfit, is the color of the line really so green?EVERITT G : The line is pretty bright on the surface, a dull greenish yellow in the water, you should definitely keep the spool in a BCD pocket when not in use so clashing should not be an issue most of the time. Dangling the spool from the double clip is a really bad practice and will lead to a lost spool or a big line tangle. It's really important that the line is visible when deployed to reduce entanglement hazards. EverittJUNE H : Line is fluorescent yellow.CHRIS R : The line is basically flourscent yellow. I believe iy is this color so if you drop the spool you are more likely to see yhr line if not the spool. GEORGE B : Color is consistent with what you view online. I chose this color due to the high viz it might offer in the water. Viz is what it is about for me for safety oriented equipt.DALE W : Safety yellow. Bright lemonLINDA R : It's a flouresent yellow not green Frederick C : It's a bit more yellow than green. I bought it BECAUSE it's a bright colour. It's easier to see JUSTIN R : Ha, yeah the line is as green as the picture shows. No worries though, I hear neon green is very fashionable!!Joshua V : Yes, it is bright florescent green. Very visible in the water.LOUIS F : Are you, really, serious about your question? Yes, the line is green, just as you see in the picture. How vain. I carry the spool in my BCD pocket and deploy it when needed. Otherwise, it is not seen by anyone.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?PAUL D : simpleCHARLES C : Included stainless steel hardware or a great priceANTHONY K : Have used these in the pastFLETCHER M : easy to useCHAD H : Already ownROBERT N : Hi-Vis yellow lineKEN T : Great price and stainless steel double ender. Will use it to deploy an SMB and search and recovery.Antonio A : Small and compact, I guess 18 meters is more than enough for a surface marker buoy. And it is so cheap.

Not sized well.

The 100' spool is too small to hold 100' in a "ready to dive" configuration. It comes with a bit over 100' of line, but is wound to the very edge of the spool. The problem is when you take some off to be able to access the holes you end up with much less than the 100' you thought you'd have to deploy underwater.

XS Scuba Finger Spool Review - Scuba Gear Reviews

Works perfectly and at a great price too. The 160 is more than I need currently but I hope to need it in the future. High Viz line is great in both clear and murky waters.

Finger Spool

Cut several yards of line off the spool and put it into use.

Decent spool, too much line

This is a great spool but there is so much line provided, there isn't an easy way to keep it from unraveling. Other than that, it is great!

Finger spool.

Great finger spool at a good price. Recommend the product.

In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay out the line and if they didn't empty the spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The finger spool is most often used as a gap reel or for short distance exploration. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped-off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in a double-ended bolt snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use.

XS Scuba's Finger Spools come equipped with a durable corrosion resistant 4" (10.2cm) stainless-steel double-ender bolt snap with 18-8 stainless-steel internal spring. The spool is injection-molded with glass-filled nylon for strength and long life. The line is .073" (1.86mm) #24 Hi-Viz yellow nylon 16-strand braided line with a breaking strength of 123.5 to 130 lbs. (56 to 59 kg). The XS Scuba Finger Spool is available in 3-sizes and line lengths; 60' (18.3m) measures (Dia. x W) 3" x 1" (7.6cm x 2.5cm), 100' (30.5m) measures (Dia. x W) 3" x 1.44" (7.6cm x 3.7cm) and 160' (49m) measuring (Dia. x W) 3.25" x 1.75" (8.3cm x 4.4cm).
