Nicely trimmed, but the clip is very poor.

I ordered this octopus because I liked the slim design, ease of inflating a SMB with it, and because it comes with a clip. I like to route my alternate reg under my right armpit and clip it to the left chest ring. After a couple of dives the reg started popping out of the clip after I don the BCD and upon entering the water. The clip appears to be very flimsy. While I had no issues with unclamping while underwater, it became very frustrating, particularly because this clip design was the deciding factor in me purchasing this item. I ended up doing what I did with my previous octo: wrap a hose retainer over a snap bolt and clamp it this way. Hopefully the manufacturer will address this problem in the future. Apart from the clip I had no issues and the octo seems to be pretty solid and well-constructed.

Great slim format octopus

I bought this about 6 months ago. Used now for a week in Cozumel and just now in Bonaire. This is a great Reg. Small and out of the way. Comes with a release clip that works perfectly. Never came loose on its own. Highly recommended and affordable.

Clip does not hold!

Hangs too low when face down and the clip is TOO LOOSE. I've only had it for one trip and already it won't hold the octopus--divers keep informing me that it is dragging--unacceptable!

XS Scuba Alt Ait Regulator

Great buy and a very good alt air reg. Finally a quick and easy, secure connection for the reg to your bcd. I like the side exhaust so you can use it in any position for teaching classes.

Stop looking...You just found the best...

After teaching scuba for 22 years. I've used every type of octopus known to man..This is the best.. Breathes easy in any direction. Doesn't free flow upon entry. Super lite for travel..The attachment system is the best on the market. I chose the yellow myflex hose..I love it. I'm installing these on all my rentals units as well.

Easy breathing at depth. Low profile and secure.

The octo has a low profile and a great clipping system for a secure fit. It breaths well at depth and does not free flow when it hits the water. Great octo for the price. Great breakaway clip system included.

So where is your octopus during the dive? Is it trailing along in the water behind you? Can you find it in an emergency? Can you find it at all? XS Scuba has addressed that problem by developing the Alt-Air. The Alt-Air utilizes the same patented quick-release buckles used on today's most modern weight integrated BC's. Snap the Alt-Air in place to the BC and forget about it. If you need it, then it will be there...every time. Even after a giant stride from a 20' (6m) tuna tower...it's still there. Yet, just grab and pull the Alt-Air, that's all that is needed to release the patented X-Lock buckle.

The Alt-Air is a reliable downstream demand valve design and is tuned to resist free flow when entering the water or surface swimming through the surf zones. The regulator is manufactured from impact resistant plastic with chrome plated brass valve components. The Alt-Air has a unique in-line mouthpiece design that provides a direct line between the demand valve mechanism and the mouthpiece for excellent breathing characteristics. The Alt-Air comes in three models' choices. One has a black 36" (91.44cm) low pressure hose, one comes with a yellow 36" (91.44cm), and the third comes with a 36" (91.44cm) MiFlex low pressure hose. The MiFlex hoses feature a patent pending double nylon safety braiding designed to outperform and outlive traditional rubber hoses. MiFlex hoses are 30% lighter than an equivalent length rubber hose and have unmatched flexibility. You can tie a MiFlex hose in a knot and be assured of continuous, uninterrupted airflow. MiFlex Hoses have a minimum burst pressure of 3600 psi (250 bar), more than twice rubber hoses. The Alt-Air comes with a quality silicone mouthpiece and an owner's manual.
