GOOD COMPUTER

I have 2 g2 computers, 1 wrist mount, 1 air integrated with quick disconnect. my trouble starts with the quick release connector, not only for my self but for costumers of the store. we jokingly talk about watching them come disconnected and slide across the floor of the boat and fall to the bottom of the ocean. THIS IS HAPPING DIVERS. 1 Costumer stated that if it wasn't for the retractor mounted to his BC he would have lost his. I now have to order parts from a different company, to make mine hard wired in place SCUBA PRO YOU SHOULD MAKE THIS PART OF THE PACKAGE WHEN YOU SPEND BIG DOUGH ON A NEW COMPUTER, WITH DIVING I DO NOT WANT QUICK DISSCONNECTS ON ANYTHIG

additional features

I bought this computer for my sidemount and recreational trimix courses. I had a little difficulty in activating the multi-tank functions, but after a phone call to tech supportthe problem was fixed I now regulary switch from one tank transmitter to multiple transmitters. I am extremely nearsighted and had to change my mask lens to no prescription where most people use "the cheater lenses". I would reccomend this computer. However the software for the PC lacks one very important function for me. I have over 700 dives registered in the previous version of the software. I can find no way to transfer the data into logtrax. I would also like the starting and ending pressures instead of the delta. I do like the ability to transfer the data into my my Iphone. My sidemount instructor qasn't going to sign off on my dives till I showed her the downloaded dives on my phone

Love the Computer - LogTrack a Little Weak

I purchased this computer for my trip to Roatan. It replaced a cheaper computer that I have 150 dives on. The old one had info too small for me to read so replaced it. Like the functionality and am very pleased with the computer. It helped that I was on a trip with my ScubaPro dealer dive shop and the Owner took time to show the features of the computer and it's functionality. I am though, disappointed in the log software for a couple reasons. I do not want to keep several logs and this software as far as I can figure cannot manually accept logs from previous dives if they had not been logged without the computer. One log would be nice as my other computer was able to do this. I am also searching for how to sort out the longitude / latitude portion for my dives. I attempted to place it in the fields that are supplied without success. Overall I am happy with the computer and disappointed in the log software. To be fair I have only logged 15 dives with this computer and may find that I figure out the log software as I get more use to it. I definitely like this computer so far more than my last computer which was not a ScubaPro brand computer.

Good product except for:

I bought the G2 4 months ago, I recommend it, however, we need to make some improvements to make it perfect. The planning function should give all deco levels in detail, for the trimix dives it is essential to have a run time, and neither the G2 nor the Logtrack software can predict a complete and detailed run time. The screen is not anti-reflective and it is often annoying for the reading of the diving parameters. I stuck a plastic anti-reflective film that greatly improves the reading under water, on the other hand on the surface the screen is less clear. The memorization of the remaining pressure information in the bottle while diving is not done. Only the pressure at the end of the dive is saved. And so on Logtrack no curve followed by the pressure and the consumption of air min by min. We have just average consumption for each dive. Even in L0 tables ZH-L16 ADT MB PMG are very penalizing compared to the RGBM of SUUNTO or even the MN90 dive tables. Diving at 60m for 15min the G2 in L0 mode gives us 56min of TTS, SUUNTO VYPER AIR 42min, MN90 tables 29min. The old Aladin AirZ pressure sensor (blue probe) .. are not compatible with the G2. While the ShearwaterAI takes into account the SUUNTO, SCUBAPRO, ALADIN old and new probes and obviously the SHEARWATER probes. No SIMULATION dive mode to see and train on the surface reading the parameters that can be seen during the dive. No visualization of the screen of the G2 dive replay on the Logtrack. No dive simulator on the Logtrack to prepare his Run time in trimix diving with decompression block change. In conclusion I recommend the G2 for recreational diving, but for the trimix or TEK if the previous remarks are not taken into account on an upcoming update it is not at the level of these competitors SHEARWATER, SUUNTO, or GENIUS from MARES for the same price range. Hoping to see the G2 evolve quickly to the perfect computer at the next update.

Scuba pro G2 Computer

After many years of renting I finally took the plunge and bought a wrist computer. I was diving deep, wreck and shallow dives in Grand Cayman and had a chance to evaluate my new purchase in a variety of conditions. In all scenarios I was very pleased with the performance of the computer. I originally did not purchase the tank pressure sensor and so that function was not available. I have since remedied that and will have a chance to test that functionality on another dive trip in May.

software clunky and data flow awkward

beautiful and reliable piece of equipment. big disconnect between the actual computer and the software. problem is that i can't get the dive data i want from the computer after each dive. A graph to me is not helpful if there aren't data points labeled. overall i like this computer. but I had trouble with syncing to my mac - now solved and the data i record in my log book doesn't get recorded in the computer logbook. It would be helpful to me to have: 1) add starting and ending tank pressure - only gives my delta 2) allow for recording of both HR and respiratory rate allow software updates that don't have to manually move a file to the disk on the dive computer

Excellent Hardware paired with awful software

The G2's user experience is like if in-house IT for a chemical processing plant in 1995 designed the OS for your iPhone - it most does the job, but not efficiently, elegantly, or seamlessly across platforms. The G2 console itself is yet to disappoint in terms of reliability, battery, and accuracy. It's easy to charge and I didn't need to charge it for an entire dive vacation. I also haven't needed to re-pair the transmitter and any signal interruptions have resolved themselves in seconds. I keep a manual SPG which always reads the same as the G2. And the screen brightness has worked for me in both cold and tropical water. However, both the Logtrak software and the software on the device leave a lot to be desired and the manual is not well organized and leaves out what seems to be critical information. The Logtrak software is super buggy and doesn't let you download all the data the CPU is clearly keeping. It also doesn't log data that seems pretty relevant - like tank pressure at the begging and end of the dive or average air consumption or exact air, surface, and bottom temp. It doesn't integrate to any relevant software logging systems or seem to export data. I would never ever consider letting it replace my paper log. The software on the device itself is better, but doesn't feel modern. The 3-button interface takes as many clicks if not more to navigate than my one button puck pro backup and even though many customizations are available, the options available either still feel limiting or are not explained in the correct context in the manual. I also wonder about whomever designed the different display options - they either have too much info crammed on a small screen or not enough. I wish there was a way to get more display options or truly customize the screen to show only what data I want. I love my Scubapro fins, regs, and bcd, but I don't think they've invested enough in their software to live up to their motto in the computer department.

Great computer EXCEPT font is too small

I really like the G2 and my previous version the Luna but the G2 font is just too small and to make it worse the black text on the blue or green background makes it worse. This is really bad human factors, which them claim is part of the design. It is hard to give it 5 stars when I can't read it under all conditions but still think it is a great computer. It fails on readability, unfortunately.
