Very nice bcd for the price. Did 3 dives in St Martin with it. Weight pockets are so much nicer than a weight belt. Fits in a large suitcase which is great for traveling.

Only pool tested but I definitely like the freedom of movement vs jacket type BCD (comparing to Mares Rover dive rental equipment). Finish is good and love the integrated weights. Overall highly recommended for the price.

My first Non-jacket style BC. I love how it fits! Super comfy. Although the description does not clearly state it, this BC comes with two tank pouches preinstalled. I am happy with the purchase especially after only 2 dives.

Purchased as a travel BCD... Well built, performs as advertised (I have a Mares Prestige, so know the product)... Price was super... However, be aware, the Specifications are incorrect on the integrated releasable weight... It comes with the small pockets that hold 9# max... The large SLS pockets that hold 13# do not fit unless you modify the pouch on the BCD (you could cut the strap at the back, not recommended) Since I will use this for travel (warm water) the 9# pockets will be ok...

Newer Diver. I started with vest style witch felt bulky. Found this one at a good price so decided to try it out. Definitely prefer the back inflation. Not much for pocket space but most accessories are clipped on anyway. Hard to beat for the price.

Works great and very comfy. A couple reviews talk about the weight pockets. In reality, just pay attention which is something you should be doing as a diver. Others mention the balance on the surface. Would highly recommend a weight pocket for your tank strap. It will make surface time much easier. Love the construction and d rings. Pocket is super small, but does the job. A friend of mine has had the same bcd for 3 yrs and he still loves it. It also still looks great. I recommend.

I replaced a 2001 Mares BCD with this so that I could have integrated weights. The weight pockets work very well. But the fastening strap at the chest is not as sturdy as the old one, and the design seems to make it difficult to dump air fast. I?ve had trouble getting the air out on some ascents. I have not made up my mind yet on this device and will need some more experience with it. 11 dives on it so far.

Bought this for my 12 y.o son at the time, he's been diving it for a year and more than 60 dives, trims perfect, travels lite, was the best back inflate I could buy a beginner i.m.o. He'll use it for many years to come, side roll-out pocket is big enough to house finger spool and smb and rear trim pockets is a great feature especially when using a 5 - 7 mm in cold water to add additional weight and trim.

I purchased this BC for my husband after having really good experience w/ the similar Mares Bolt BC. The construction is really solid- quality materials, rings, straps, comfortable back plate etc... The design makes for an excellent trim/streamline position underwater. We have both added pockets to ours, but I would never go back to the 'vest' style. We both love the the inflator can purge by simply pulling down when in the vertical position-- it makes descents & ascents much easier, and you can keep the inflator velcro-ed to the shoulder. Only two things that are not ideal: 1) The backplate is really nice, but the concave shape makes it a bit difficult to pack if your travel bag is narrow, 2) We both find it difficult to maintain a upright position on the surface when inflated-- back is no problem, but if you want to be comfortable waiting for the boat you should only inflate as much as necessary not to sink (and ignore your dive master/guide telling you to inflate more, lol) or be prepared to use your snorkel.

I've put a dozen dives on the bcd and I've been very happy with it. Solid build quality and I think it will last. I really like the buckle instead of a cummerbund. It's so much easier to adjust at depth. I wish there was a little more pocket space but I knew that before I bought it. Seems like a great value for a well made back inflate with integrated weights.

Absolutely great BC. I bought this to replace an older Mares Vector 1000 jacket BC. I love the waist buckle and integrated weight. It is no-nonsense BC with everything you need and nothing more. I have done about 40 dives on it and don't miss my old BC one bit. Takes a little to get used to when you switch from jacket to back inflate but I'm not going back.

Love this BCD. It is pretty light, and works just great for a big 133 cu-ft steel tank. The bladder has lots of air-volume, so once it is inflated, you ascend easily, but that makes it a little harder to trim your buoyancy. What helps with buoyancy, are the included small 1/2 pound trim pockets which you find between the back-plate and bladder at waist-level. Another pro would be the amount of D-rings. There are just enough. A minus would be that there is no storage room except a small collapsible pocket. I would suggest having a wet suit thigh pocket if you're going to be collecting something. Otherwise, this BCD is all pro's for me.

Great BCD comfort and light weight. I am new to the wing bcd but after trim weighting properly it feels great like I have less resistance when diving.

It is great for a beginner. There are loops for all kinds bolt snaps. I’ve been on 12 dives and it’s been awesome. You may have to tighten your waist strap a little when get below 60ft.

There is a joy in learning to dive and buying your own equipment. My 14yo son worked a lot of weekends to earn the money to buy his own gear. This is the BCD he chose.... and it was perfect. Light weight. Great carry handle. Decent quality (not top of the line, but far from junk). We have traveled with it internationally and it just fits. I‘ve bought the fancy ones and really like them, but for simplicity to just pack up and go, this is perfect choice.

I originally ordered the previous model of this BCD however it was out of stock and none available from the manufacturer. Leisure pro apologized and sent me the updated model at no additional cost. That earns a huge thank you from leisure pro. It’s one reason I love doing business with them. The BCD does perform well and is comfortable. It looks great too. I have e had no issues with the weights; they are locked in well. The swivel buckles are a bit squeaky on land but I deal with it. As with any wing style BCD it can be more difficult to float head up on the surface. I found it’s easier to float on your back and don’t inflate the BCD all the way. I would suggest this BCD if this is the style and price point you are looking for.

I bought this BCD because I didn't want to use a jacket style one again. It didn't disappoint. It's lightweight and easy to use. Has removable weight pockets around the waste which I like since I prefer a traditional weight belt [cuts down on bulk when travelling]. Has 3 ways to dump gas which is very convenient. Has ample D-rings for a recreational dive even without the weight pockets [which carry an addition 7]. Dries pretty quickly even after 3 or 4 daily dives provided ample ventilation is available. It's also very comfortable, easy to don and doff. I like that it has an integrated whistle on the chest closure for emergency.

Excellent BCD, even if I haven't used it in the water yet. The XL runs even bigger than I expected, which I'm pleasantly surprised at. D-Rings are all over the place, so you'll never run out of places to attach equipment. The roll-up pocket is a little small, and difficult to access. I also wish there was a second one on the left side. The SLS weight pockets are a big difficult to get in and out, and they're smaller than I anticipated. Overall, an excellent BC that I expect to last many a dive.

I originally ordered the Mares Hybrid Pure w/MLS, but I was advised that the product was no longer available. I was offered the Mares Pure SLS for the same price, and I am more than happy. This extra special treatment by the service department will make me a Leisure Pro customer for life. The Pure SLS is light (no, not the lightest nor the most easily foldable, but good for me) and it is a welcome change from my full wraparound BCD I’ve been using. It took a few dives to get used to the backplate/wing style, but once I did, I was much happier. I have more freedom while diving, and the Mares Pure SLS has clever roll-up pockets that I can store items I need during my dive. It was the best deal ever, and I’ll probably keep this BCD for years...

Diver profile: Recreation diver. Cold water (24lb lead to compensate for 7mm wetsuit) Sizing and Fit I should have got a small. I'm a slender build and on the lower end of the medium size chart. The waist strap was too big to get snug but with some work, you can adjust the belt through the back of the BC and cut off the excess webbing. Assembly detail: The straps were not routed properly at the factory. The left and right side did not match with one side being twisted us. Easy enough to fix but found it to be odd. The inflator hose included was 30" long...crazy long. I bought a shorter hose so I didn't have a massive loop sticking up over my left shoulder. Weight system: Pockets seem strong and I like how you can easily confirm they are clicked in. Zipper is substantial. I don't like how huge they are but by being big and blocky, it is easier to insert the weight into pocket. Trim weight pockets are on the same belt as your integrated weights so they do not provide good trim adjustment with the exception of moving the weight further back. If you need weight to be further up towards your head, they will not help with that. Wing / Lift Bag: This thing is massive. I really don't know how many people need 40 pounds of lift on a single. The added lift isn't really a problem except the wing is kind of floppy at the corners so when you reach for your lower dump valve, it can take some feeling around for. Overall: For the price I paid, I'm happy with the BCD and would recommend it with some asterisks. It works well and is of solid construction. A big selling point is the SLS weight pockets, which I may end up removing from the BCD all together. With an added tank strap, I can put some trim weights higher up. With only 4 pounds needed in each pocket, I would prefer a slimmer profile up front. I'm a slender build and with the massive weight pockets, I barely have enough room at my belly for a line cutter next to the buckle.

I love the integrated weight system of the Mares BCDs. Once I get used to them, I will not use anything else. D rings are placed in good positions to clip in gear to stream line for better buoyancy. Works well on boat dives and shore dives. Drift dives are very smooth with place to clip on SMB.

Newer Diver. I started with vest style witch felt bulky. Found this one at a good price so decided to try it out. Definitely prefer the back inflation. Not much for pocket space but most accessories are clipped on anyway. Hard to beat for the price.
The streamlined Pure BCD offers swivel shoulder buckles, smart trim weight positioning and maximum adjustability. A great BC! Great for travel. The Mares Pure SLS BCD is a giant step in the evolution of back mounted BCDs. The first thing you will notice when donning the Pure SLS BCD is the perfect fit. This new level of comfort is achieved via special shoulder pads which are longer, pre-shaped and reinforced, and which work in perfect unison with the lumbar suspension system. This suspension system is inspired by the design of modern hiking backpacks; the system avoids direct contact between the body and the tank support. Pure SLS BCD features 7 stainless steel D-rings for complete accessory attachment. Made of very tough 420 Cordura material, it will endure any exposure you submit it to and hold up to the test of time.
Air-cell is separated from the harness, resulting in unrestricted freedom of movement. The bladder is equipped with bungee cords that will aid in a low profile when it is inflated and facilitates rapid deflation when dumping air. BCD comes standard with 3 pull-dump/overpressure relief valves, one is incorporated into the top of the Ergo Inflator; another is located on the right shoulder and a third is located on the rear lower right. Activation of the valves are made easy with both the upper and lower right valves coming with pull cords and the valve incorporated into the Ergo Inflator is activated by an internal cable attached to the inflator mechanism. Mares Ergo Inflator the standard inflation and deflation control device used in sanctioned training programs. Intuitive use and secure grip. The Ergo Inflator comes standard with a 3/8" threaded low pressure quick-disconnect hose.
Superbly comfortable and stable back buoyancy BC provides 40 lbs. (18kg) of lift capacity in size large yet is streamline and weighs only 8.6 lbs. (3.9kg). Shoulder straps with swivel action buckle design, adjustable chest strap and a waist strap are all equipped with "squeeze-style" side-release buckles that along with the adjustable cummerbund provide a custom fit and ease of donning/doffing. BCD provides storage when needed with its roll-down cargo pocket. The Pure SLS BCD has Mares Slide & Lock System (SLS) for weight release. This unique weight integrated BCD provides a visual confirmation of proper weight pouch insertion, so there is no guessing when you do your pre-dive check before entering the water. In addition, the BCD is equipped with smart trim weight positioning for a balanced feel when diving.
The Slide & Lock System (SLS) weight pockets have sturdy zipper closures and are easy to slide into the BCD even when wearing thick gloves. The SLS is the safest system available and come in weight capacities of 9 lbs. (4 kg) weight capacities. SLS weight pockets will work with block or soft pouch weights.
