CHRISTOPHER T : whats the uni-quik's rated strength?ED W : There are NO engravings, stampings, or etched text on the unit I purchased. So if you need a specific rating, I'd go to a climbing shop and get one with a technical capacity rating. It's well made, and all aluminum. Should last a long time. I don't know what metal the spring mechanism is made of, hopefully the internal spring is stainless steel. I've only had it since November 2016, so maybe I'll update these comments in a year or two after more salt-water use. I don't use it for climbing or lifting heavy loads. It's just a good clip for attaching lights, or securing other SCUBA accessories to a BC D-Ring or holding gear together. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers! - Ed. PADI OWSI 200262

Carabiner: an oblong metal ring with a spring clip or locking device; used in mountaineering to attach a rope to a piton or to connect two ropes. Strong and dependable for climbing it will also work well for diving. Gauges, computers, game bags, dive lights, cameras, slates, you name it a diver wants to secure it to their BCD or Weight Belt. This need is fulfilled by the use-of-clips-and-webbing. This Locking Aluminum Carabiner gives positive retention of whatever you attach to it. If you don't want to lose it this is the clip for you. Made from corrosion resistant anodized aluminum with a threaded locking latch and can easily attach to BCD D-ring or slips over harness webbing. The clip measures (L x W) 4.5" x 2.75" (113.3mm x 69.85mm) and has a gate length of 2.125"" (54mm). Carabiner makes a great save-a-dive-kit item.
