Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?ERNEST W : best snorkel I've ever usedERNEST W : best snorkel I've ever usedTODD B : Freediving and spearfishing. I hate the flex tube types because they crimp down and twist at the worst times, cutting off the air, say, while going through gigantic surf ( California ) and trying not to get killed on the way in. That's when I REALLY need to be able to breath so I go with the unbendable pipe.

Good, but high profile.

This is a very nice snorkel, for snorkeling. For scuba diving it is just too large and bulky. It ends up getting in the way a lot.

Great product

I love this snorkel and needed to replace a lost one. Those snorkels with the corrogated plastic are not good in my world.

tuff, durable,comforatble,good

really durable snorkle, no flex hose that will break or leak. gets used daily in waters of ixtapa. works excellent!

Not as good as the original Impulse

I have been free diving for almost 30 years. I had the original impulse snorkel and loved it. The Impulse 2 is a poor replacement. To save some money they got rid of the flange that held the upper valve in place and replaced it with a small rib in the body of the tube. The result is that almost every time I purge the snorkel it blows out the valve. Once that happens you suck in water with every breath. I was hoping there was a part missing, but looked at another Impulse 2 at a local shop, and it is exactly the same construction. I am returning this one, and I am going to see if I can find an original.

Good basic snorkel

I bought this for a recent trip to Turneffe Islands. It worked great. Wind blew hard all week so there was always a lot of wave action which was a good test of "dry" design. Impulse 2 was good at preventing most water from entering-- any that did get in didn't bother me since I've used a very basic non "dry" design for years and am used to blowing out before every breath. Purge valve required very little effort. Mouthpiece was comfortable and didn't really notice any jaw/mouth fatigue after the 3 hours or so of snorkeling we did every day. I recomend this snorkel to my groups to snorkel and freedive with wild dolphins, whale sharks and humpback whales. [...] I have a link to this site on my web page so people can by it online before they join me on an Adventure. I have used this 'Impulse II' and the original 'impulse I' since 1995 now... Looks good, the yellow is actually green

Since its introduction in 1989, the Impulse Snorkels have been the bestselling snorkels in the world. The Impulse snorkels feature a patented upper valve, a two-drain system and Aqua Lung's patented Comfo Bite mouthpiece. The Impulse comes in Flex and Non-Flex versions. The Impulse 2 uses a two-valve system. If a wave breaks over the snorkel, the patented, upper, annular valve directs most of the water out before it even reaches the mouthpiece. Any water that does get past the annular valve drains out the lower valve. The reservoir located below the mouthpiece keeps breathing path clear of excess water. In the rare event that you need to clear the Impulse 2 Snorkel, almost no breath is needed, all it takes is an easy puff. Patented Comfo Bite mouthpieces, which does not require the user to clench their teeth, eliminate jaw fatigue. An optional, smaller size Comfo Bite is available. Comfo Bite mouthpieces are replaceable. The flex model allows the lower unit to drop away for use with a regulator. Also, available in a non-flex, standard version.
