Buoy is fine, but holster design is incompatible

I purchased this to use with my Aqualung Axiom BCD. There are two attachment options. One is the standard clips on the rear of the holster. The other is with two grommets that fit the knife rivets on the BCD. Here is the problem. The holster clips are entirely useless with any strap on the BCD. They are much too small. The second problem is that I already have a knife currently placed in the knife rivets. So basically I have a nice SMB holster that cannot be used with one of Aqualung's own BCDs, unless I remove my knife from its attachment point. Contacting the customer service team for help with this problem unfortunately did little to improve the situation, except to confirm what I already knew, and to receive some empathy for the trouble.
