It can work on other Manufacturer BC providing the APA Hose fits the Threads on the BC... I am not familiar with the Sherwood Outback BC sizeTHOMAS C : That all depends on the size of the fitting on the BC you are attaching it to. The APA is self contained and will work on any BC all depending on whether or not it will physically attach and seal to the BC. I am not familiar with Sherwood products and I have not any way of verifying the fitment of the APA. I would suggest finding someone that is using the TUSA APA and try it on your BC, just make sure that it seals correctly and does not leak air at the fitting.

Does not work on older BCD's.

I have a TUSA Imprex BCD that is probably around 16 years old. It was lightly used and still in great shape, as once I got it, life happened. Marriage, kids, etc. Diving went to the back burner. Flash forward 10 years, one of my kids got a hold of my BCD, and broke the flange connector off the original purge assist. No fixing this as the plastic actually snapped. I bought this thinking it would be a direct fit. Not so fast. The size is correct, but the threading is totally different. My dive shop had to send my BCD directly to TUSA, TUSA saying it should and would fit. They sent it back with an older model purge assist on it, the new I had bought in a separate bag. Don't buy this thinking it will fit an older TUSA. Newer ones yes, but as I found out, if your BCD was made prior to around 2008, it won't work.

Great addition to Tusa BCDs!

I added this inflator/deflator to my Tusa Liberator Sigma II BCD. It is great. You can deflate in any orientation very easily. It makes maintaining peak buoyancy a breeze!

Subtle but fantastic add-on

This is a great add-on to any of the new model Tusa BCD's. It turns your BC into a product like the MARES Dragon with a pneumatic precision air dump. You no longer have to lead your BCD controls over your shoulder and raise the BCD's hose over your head to dump air. It uses the pressure provided by your tank to power the pneumatic dump so you route your BCD hose under your arm. See Tusa wite-up: [@]Works very well - you release air from your BCD in precise small bursts similar to the way you charge your BCD with air from your tank in bursts.

tusa active purge assist system

looks like a good replacment part. but it does not fit my tusa 3800 Platina bcd, mount is larger on my bcd, ended up selling to LDS a service replacment spare for them

TUSA's Active Purge Assist (APA) System is a revolutionary new BCD accessory technology. This pneumatically assisted purge system and newly designed OPEV (over pressure exhaust valve) offers significantly-enhanced flow rates over a standard inflator system, which allows for immediate purge and inflation response. Additionally, the APA is incredibly streamlined reducing drag and bulkiness. The system is designed for low maintenance and easy care, reducing inflator malfunctions and an add-on replacement accessory on most TUSA BCD's.

The APA ergonomic design fits comfortably in your hand when trimming buoyancy underwater. It has a cable activated pull dump mechanism allowing the diver to pull down on the inflator to quickly dump air when needed. The corrugated hose has clips to route the low-pressure hose coming from your first stage regulator to further reduce drag and increase the streamline profile when diving. Uniquely, the system can be mounted on the BCD in a variety of ways including:
