I've been using the Sunnto 9 Barro for the last 18 months and love the watch, brought a new one as to be able to rotate through my adventures. Ultra Runs in the trails that will be cover over 250k, so need the extra eatch to track for battery life. Wouldnt have chosen any other watch due the to excite the Suunto 9 Barro !!

This will be my 3rd suunto over about a decade, I've also had 3-4 comparable watches over time from competing brands I won't name. Suunto 9 Baro out performs them all. Where older model Suunto's and other brands fell short on reliability and accurate readings as well as batter life for multi day backcountry adventures or trips this watch shines. I fluctuate between mountain biking, running, lifting, hiking, backpacking, skinning, and skiing. The watch has kept up with everything and daily use. Another nice point is it can pair with other brands HR belts so I didn't have to buy a Suunto specific band. Only compliant is the mix between MovesCount and SuuntoLink. I wish there was a better option to route plan on a laptop then move it to the watch but I've found a few easy work arounds.

The reviews are right, the 9 is for people who run ultras AND wear heart rate straps, that's about it. Wish Suunto offered a Baro model of the 5 or a non-Google model of the 7. PROS: Durable, lighter than you'd think, pleasant combo of touch screen and buttons, nice color screen for metrics and graphs. The SW design accomplishes a lot with just 3 buttons. The storm alarm and sunrise/sunset alerts are nice. Although expensive, Suunto's accessory straps are nice, especially the velcro ones. Configurable sport profiles and menus from the app. Suunto heat maps. CONS: The Wrist HR is quite bad and I compared it against other devices; consistently 10 bpm higher than others. It also KILLS the battery if you use it 24/7 and if you want sleep stats of any kind, you'll need the 24/7 turned on. GPS tracks are wonky which equates to inaccurate pace readings. The size is really just too big. I'd trade 10 hours of battery if they could shave 3-5 mm off of this thing. Only 1 configurable alarm - come on Suunto.. WANTS: Choice of a 'positive' display (black on white). Ability to add/remove items to the shortcuts menu. Ability to mix and match watch face features. Or just more faces in general. I don't need music storage but music controls on the wrist are nice. Ability to add/remove specific 'widgets' on the main screen, like the compass.

Good overall sportswatch with a sleek design. The battery life is great and seems to last forever, even when in full training mode for IM and forgetting to charge it. On the downside, I would expect the possibility to select and change the different views & data fields on the watch, hoping that the folks at Suunto will soon deliver this on the next release. The possibility to change the straps on the go is really great and allows to use the watch for different occasions as well. Highly recommended for the multisport and triathletes out there!

Have used this watch since it was introduced and really enjoy the long battery life, reminders to charge as well as the possibility to switch between battery modes during an activity to make sure my track doesn't cut off. The display is easy to read, also in bright sunlight as well as underwater - both in the pool and open water.

I like this watch and it's accuracy. I didn't like the heart rate monitor. Totally useless for me. Also finding answers to deatils about features is hard. Suunto support is too generic

Have been a user of Suunto for many years, however i decided to take the plunge and upgrade to a Suunto 9 having read such amazing comments and customer feedback on the product. Have to say Im not dissapointed. Its a bullet proof piece of kit that is my go to watch (over my Omega!!). Im a keen outdoor enthusiast and track every activity . The watch is like my fitness diary driving me to train to reach my goals. On a final note accuracy of data and GPS mapping is spot on. Plus I love the fact that you can interchange straps to match your mood and also give your watch a fresh new look when you want to.

Suunto 9 is really top-of-the-range product. It offers a wide range of different sports activities, which can also be individually adjusted. I greatly appreciate the battery life. In addition, it is possible to adjust the recording interval of the GPS so the battery last even much longer. Unfortunately, the Suunto App does not fully exploit the huge potential of this watch, hope it will soon improve with the next update.

Todella monipuolinen, tyylikäs, kestävä ja laadukas sporttikello. Sopii urheilun lisäksi arkeen ja juhlaan. Pieni miinus alkuperäisestä ”kiinteästä” rannekkeesta, mutta onneksi alkuperäinen ranneke oli helposti vaihdettavissa joustavampaan rannekkeeseen.

Name an activity and this watch can track it. From heavy lifting to long trail runs my Suunto can keep up with me. I am an OCR athlete and I was nervous to wear my watch in the crazy mud but I haven’t had any issues even when it’s packed with dirt. After my races I wash it off and it looks brand new. Love this watch!

Love Love Love my Suunto 9 Baro (white)!!! The battery life is hands down the best feature on the watch. I also like the many sport modes it offers as well as the sleep tracking and step counting capabilities. I use it for training as well as an everyday watch and get compliments on it all the time. I've used the Ambit Peak, Spartan and now the 9 and they just keep out doing themselves. Definitely worth the investment!

I’ve had my Suunto 9 Baro for over six months. The watch hardware is very durable, including the wrist band. Easy to wash after a sweaty workout. Touch screen is easy to use and I love the adjustable watch faces and brightness. I appreciate the Do Not Disturb function and daily step and HR teacher. The barameter and GPS are more accurate than my phone when I’m on mountain trails outside of cell service. The sport mode are clear and customizable. The battery life is amazing. After using it for a few weeks, I will never use a different watch. It lives up to its promise of long, reliable battery life and accurate tracking. The updates via the website keep the watch happy with the newest and greatest.

This is a really durable watch, built like a tank without the weight of one. Internally, its like an energy efficient sports smart car with all the bells and whistles one could ask for. Equipped with different battery settings to make it easy to get the most life out of your desired activity. I'm able to go several days flipping through screens and running 2+ hours with Heart Rate on without charging it once. My favorite feature is probably the barometric altimeter and storm alerts for the most accurate elevation and weather data while spending countless hours in the mountains.

I'm still getting used to the watch and use it primarily for road running. The battery life is definitely far superior to anything I've used before. I love how many sport options there are; I'm not sure when I'm going to be on an obstacle course next but I. AM. READY. Be warned if you have small wrists: if you care about an accurate HR, get a strap. This pretty much records my cadence as my HR on all runs because the watch is so big I can't get it properly strapped down or else it basically becomes a tourniquet. (I guess it's helpful for that option, if the occasion arises.) In any case, it's not uncommon for any easy run to come back with a 200 avg HR. So either my heart is about to explode or the wrist monitor isn't accurate. The Suunto app gives more data than I need, and quite honestly, it's fun to nerd out. Seeing .5 miles, 1 mile, 5 mile, and 10 mile splits is pretty neat. All in all, decent experience with the watch so far. There have been some growing pains but we're getting used to each other. Does no one else talk about their watch like it's a person? Just me? Well then.

The Suunto 9 Baro has been my daily training watch for a year now, I love the interface and the Battery life. I tried my best to give to make the wrist based HR work but I just couldn't get an accurate reading. I now use a Suunto Chest HR monitor with my 9 and it works great.

It may not have the flashy/trendy gadgets, but if you're looking at the Suunto 9 it's because you value something else- durability, reliability, and accuracy. If that's what you want in a GPS watch then GET THIS ONE because that's exactly what you're getting.

Ask Suunto questions before you finally decide to commit to a customized watch. You don't want to mess anything up. It would be that much more of a pain for both parties to fix. Aside from that, I love this watch, it suits my desires for training and at the price it will literally and gladly be the last watch I ever buy for myself. Thank you Suunto for adapting to the furtue. You guys rock!

First time purchase Suunto product and I choose Suunto 9 Baro! The watch looks nice and comfortable to wear for sport or casual. Personal thinking that the lasting of the battery can be improved further. Overall this watch simply perfect to me!

Upgraded from Spartan Sport and overall feeling is much better in all aspects. The body is very comfortable. Looks very precise and elegant. It really powerfull machine for you daily activities and everything working as expected and even more. The resistance and especially battery life is unbelievable. Still missing some software features on the end, but I recommend Suunto 9 to you!

Few weeks trialling the Baro 9. My first experience with a Suunto watch and good news is I wanted to keep wearing it around. Trail running, road running and even some open water swimming testing done. Pros: - Feels like a men's diving watch I'd want to wear for the day, the fact it's a sports watch is a bonus in a way. - Big fan of the solid and pushable buttons. A definite knowledge they've been pushed. - Battery life is great. Even wearing 24/7. Every few days I thought about charging and always still with plenty of juice left in it. Didn't have one instance where I went running and was short on GPS life. Though haven't tried an ultra or anything that hectic with it... yet. - I just like things to work in the real world without much need for the science behind it and the new FusedTrack appears to do exactly that. Simple. Which is a bonus for me here in thick rainforest tracks in Queensland Australia where GPS sometimes struggles with canopy. - I'm using the sleep information for the first time with a sports watch. I think in part to the fact that I'm happy wearing Baro 9 all day. Cons: - Optical sensor for running is hit and miss. But like any brand, all the same. When I'm serious about my HR in a run I put on an HR strap always anyhow. Sleeping and day to day seems to be adequate. - Just today 5th Nov 2018 the new Suunto App has automatic Strava upload, but the whole two apps with traditional "movescount" platform still controlling what you see on screen in sports modes. Let's just get one app to rule them all :) - otherwise, I'm happy now all the automation is back to Strava. - Not really a con because I'm new to the brand but it is taking me a little while to learn the flow and ins and outs of the Suunto menu. But with some more time, this won't be an issue.

It's almost perfect. You must add watch faces ( analog and digital ) with heart rate icon on home screen. Default watch faces are bad. Please add more.

The watch looks very good and I appreciate the followings features: -very good GPS accuracy and battery life -nice to wear on a day to day basis. The silicone strap is very comfortable and I like that you can easily change the strap with another strap (silicone or not) that has the quick-release change mechanism. Also the watch Is a good activity tracker (it counts steps, calories, it monitors your heart rate and your sleep). -it has some nice sport modes. Also you could create new customized sport modes if you don’t like the ones provided by Suunto -the wrist based heart rate monitor exceeded my expectations; it could be used for daily tracking and also for exercises with below 160 bpm. For high intensity training, like interval running, I recommend using a chest heart rate strap. I appreciate if Suunto will improve some features: -there is no auto scrolling option in exercise mode (like the one used in Ambit 3 series) in order to auto change the view from the selected sport mode. I think this option is useful while cycling and the watch is put on a bike mount (this is how I used my old Ambit 3). -the watch faces could be improved. I don’t like that the second hand disappears after one minute (in a standby mode that updates only the minutes’ hand). Maybe an option could be added to update the second hand even in standby mode at the expense of more battery consumption. -Suunto app and the Sportstracker web-based platform has to be updated with some options that Movescount platform already has. For example, the intervals are not detailed in Suunto app/Sportstracker under the laps section (in Movescount you could do just that). There is no connection with Strava (from Movescount you could automatically send your exercise to Strava). In Movescount platform there are a lot of more graphics than in Suunto app and the graphs are more visible due to the fact that the scale in well positioned (for the Pace graph, Movescount shows a graph with a scale between 4 min/km and 7 min/km but Suunto app shows a graph with a scale between 0 min/km and 20 min/km and that’s why the line of the graphic is looking crowded). Also I like the personal bests page from Movescount and this option couldn’t be found in Suunto app/Sportstracker. And I could continue. But luckily I am still able to use the both platforms

1. Add function for Sleep tracking - Deep, Light, Awake Time, Quality (using HRV) 2. Add Turn-On backlight using gyroscope (turning/raising your wrist) 3. Add more watch faces OR allow users to customize 4. Transfer ALL the data to Suunto App & Movescount 5. Allows integration with GoogleFit & use the calory count from MyFitnessPal 6. Use HRV to show Stress and Regeneration levels. I think that the hardware of the watch allows having all these functions (correct me if I am wrong please) therefore should be Firmware work as well as Suunto App/Movescount programming. These changes will have the S9 Baro as the #1 smartwatch // fitness tracker undoubtedly. I do recommend this watch to everyone and I hope that Suunto listens to their user ...

Loving my new Suunto 9 Baro! The design is beautiful, the battery life is incredible, the accuracy and reliabiliy of the GPS/Baro is thus far superior to my previous watches. I would say the software experience is very "polished" and intuitive, although the new "Suunto" iPhone app needs some work before I can adapt it over Movescount. At time of writing it seems to report wrong ascent data when compared to data in Logbook on watch. The only thing preventing me from upping it to 5 star is a lack of customizability (I'd give 4.5 if I could). I know I'm being nitpicky, but I would like to see a customizable watch face (none of the stock faces suit me perfectly). I would also like the ability to shut off activity tracking/step counting.

Happy with the watch, I'll never use all the options, I'm not finding the battery life as good as everyone says but is still more than enough. My only issue is the app and connection problems but I'll battle on.

AMAZING... The data provided is extremely in depth. I also love that I have the ability to split my screen and show up to seven different stats of my choosing at the same time!! I'm impressed with all the Suunto Baro 9 does and the battery life that it is able to provide. Having the ability to see altitude profiles and have a storm alarm are essential for the alpine. It is very comfortable on you wrist and you don't even notice its there. I made the switch years ago to Suunto watch's and have owned several. The Suunto Baro 9 blew me away with all the functions it provides. I can't wait to use this bad boy this winter season! Thanks for making such an incredible watch!

A great addition to Suunto's lineup, I think the S9 represents a return to their roots: to building professional tools designed to perform in the harshest conditions. The S9 takes the Spartan’s refined, suit-and-tie aesthetic a adds a spread of upgrades, improvements and function-focused new features tailored to the ultra-distance and multi-day end of the market. I'm particularly excited by the FusedTrack functionality with Tor des Geants 2019 on the radar. I've only pushed the watch's features to its limits on one or two occasions, but it's already impressed and things can only get better! The hardware is there, the software roadmap is clear, and I've seen consistent improvements even over the last several months. Kudos

This watch is awesome!
By Casta
I have been playing with it for 2 weeks. I ran about 100 km and swam about 15 km. I did not have time to dive into the user guide yet but the watch is very intuitive and works just fine. The GPS and baro looks precise, as expected with Suunto. I had an Ambit3 Peak before so I cannot compare with the Spartan, but the 9 is definitely a world apart from the Ambit. The display is very nice and the touch screen is rather reactive. The design is excellent. It might sound like a detail but I really ...

Excellent battery life
By sarinapie
I recently upgraded to the Suunto 9 and used it to trek Kilimanjaro. The battery life lasted all week and my altitude was a lot more accurate compared to my friends other watches. Easy and simple to use and would definitely recommend for everyday training, to ultra's to adventures.

Built to last - just like you
When you have your mind set on a certain goal or adventure, you want to make sure your watch can also go the distance. With up to 120 hours of continous exercise tracking Sunnto 9 is built to last - just like you!
What's the difference between Sunnto 9 Baro and Sunnto 9
The Sunnto 9 with a barometer gives you more accurate altitude information because it combines GPS data with barometric altitude information (Fused Alti). Based on data from the barometer, it also provides outdoor information like sea level air pressure and has a storm alarm. The other Sunnto 9 models still deliver altitude information, but they are based on GPS readings.
Benefits
Never Worry about Running Out of Battery
Three predefined battery modes - Performance, Endurance and Ultra - deliver from 25 hours to up to 120 hours of recording time with GPS tracking on. When you start a recording, you'll get an estimate of how much battery you have left with the current mode. If it's not enough, switch to another mode at any time.
Suunto 9 uses smart reminders based on your activity history, to help ensure you are fully charged for your next outing. If the watch notices you are running low on battery during an exercise, it will automatically suggest changing to a different battery mode.
Sunnto Fusedtrack for more Accurate Track and Distance
On long ultra runs, battery life is often the limiting factor for recording distance and track accurately, as GPS is a heavy drain on the battery. Suunto's unique FusedTrack algorithm combines GPS and motion sensor data to improve track and distance accuracy. This allows you to extend battery life by lowering GPS power without significantly compromising accuracy.
Thousands of Hours Testing in the Toughest Conditions
Suunto 9 is designed and built to meet the demands of professional athletes. Tested to the extreme with thousands of hours of real use in the toughest conditions by Suunto's internal testing team and athletes all over the world, it is your trusted companion to confidently see you through any adventure!
