Questions & Answers

Edmond M : I need to be sure before I purchase this unit. How many pounds max can it take? I read 2 lbs above however that would not be enough for me. Thank you.MATTHEW B : From my understanding, this is meant to balance out the bouyancy of your tank as the air is used. I wouldn't plan to put over the 2 lbs in it. This will not substitute having normal weights on a belt or in your bcd.MAVERICK K : I run 5lbs easily on a 110 HP AluminumJOE C : Holds 6 lbs. There are 3 sizes; click 'size'. If you need more than 6 lbs. you could use 2 pockets. Dry suit divers needing more than 6 lbs. of non-ditchable weight should consider other alternatives as this weight is not easily recoverable should it become necessary to ditch entire SCUBA.. The strap is captured between tank and BCD should it become necessary to ditch the entire SCUBA. An alternative to tank weights is thicker boots which provide more floatation to the feet thus significantly changing trim.ROBERT F : The pocket is large enough for at least a 5 pound solid weight. Or, two 3-pound soft weight pockets, maybe even a pair of 4-pounders. But I don't know if the clip is strong enough for the 4-pounders. I'm using mine for trim weights to move my weight forward, as I tend to be leg heavy.DANIEL R : The largest weight I have is a four pound soft shot bag weight that fits easily into the tank weight bag with room to spare. I am pretty certain a five pound shot bag weight would fit with no problem.
HARVEY H : Dimensions?FRED L : Harvey, At this time of year all of my dive equipment is packed away and I can not get to the tank weight pocket to give you dimensions. However, I can tell you that when I strap it on to an aluminum 80 it has room to easily take a 2 lb soft weight. I am not sure I have ever tried to put two of those weights in it, but suspect I can. I will see if I can unpack enough equipment to get to the pocked and get you a better response Fred LillyTHERESA B : 16CM X 12 CM, approx. 6" X 5"DAVID W : I don't have the exact dimensions handy, but it is a 2" strap, and the pouch will hold a couple of 3 lb shot bags. I use this if I am wearing a 7 mil wetsuit to put some of the weight behind me instead of in my BCD. It helps me sit better in the water at the surface.JIM A : It is about 5.5" wide by 5" tall.MARK D : Outside dimensions of the weight pouch are 6" wide by 5" tall. Appears to be about 5mm neoprene so inside dimensions are somewhat less. Tank strap is 28" long (fully extended) with an adjustable clamp to fit smaller diameter tanks.
Shopper : Can someone post (or point to) a video on how to mount this pocket on tank?ART R : No video, but when I use it I place it mid tank (facing backwards away from the diver) sinch it up, and make sure the strap is pinched between the backpack of the BC and the tank. Works well and keeps you from pitching forward on the surface when the tank is empty after the dive. It also allows you to split your total weight 3 ways (left, right, back of tank). Just make sure you get into the habit of hooking it back on BC after a dive or you will lose it on the boat.ROB P : The weight pocket comes with an adjustable nylon strap with a plastic buckle. Most people I see using it would wrap the strap around the tank above the BC strap to aid with trim bouyancy and to make sure it doesn't slip off. I have seen others mount it below the BC strap by adding a piece of non-slip rubber matt (used for drawers, cabinets, or under carpets on hardwoods) around the tank where they strap it on to prevent slippage.
Shopper : how much weight can this hold ??GREG G : 8 lbs easily.ROB P : 5 lbs - soft shot works best.TERRY N : I use a 4 lb weight but it will hold a 5 lb weight. I dive with steel tanks and do not use any weights unless I use a wet suit, This tank weight is sufficient with my 3-2 suit.DR. ANTONIO F : I use 2 pounds. I guess it can hold 4-6 pounds. It's an excellent product.WAYNE G : I have easily put five pounds in this pocket without a problem.ANNMARIE Y : I use it with two lbs only when I dive a single big steel tank. It is prone to slipping and has to be monitored. It would probably hold ten, but I haven't put more in it. I would worry because it has come off during a dive.
Shopper : What is the max size weight that this pocket can hold? Hard or soft weights?LeisurePro S : Can hold up to 5 pounds. Best with soft weights.

Pretty Good

Pretty good weight bag. It seems a little flimsy but it has worked so far.

Good idea, not well implemented

I used this today for the first time. I wanted a trim weight I could move higher so the tank was the target. The neoprene on this pocket is not very thick. It will probably wear too quickly using solid weights. The size is OK. I put two 2# hard weights in side by side. It should be big enough for 2 3# pretty easily. More than 6# would be a lot for the light neoprene.. It has has a 1" nylon strap to go around the tank and a typical QR fastener. The strap need some kind of rubber on it to give it some grip on the tank. As it is, it slips too much. Also, the strap going through the QR fastener loosens up easily. Like the tank band, you need to wet this first. It fits an aluminum 80 fine and would also fit an 8" tank. I can't recommend this because it is too expensive for the lightweight neoprene and lack of grip on the strap. Disappointed in this SeaSoft product. I usually trust the brand but this is not a winner.

Works great!

Was worried that this might slip on the tank, but it holds tight, even during boat entries. Even though it is designed for soft weights, it works well with solid weights too. Great item to improve your trim!

Great way to keep the weight off your hips and add some to your cylinder with this Sea Soft Adjustable Tank Weight Pocket, just mount and adjust the band to your cylinders diameter and you have shed some lead from your waist to your cylinder. Placing weight on the cylinder will also help eliminate the buoyancy you may experience from an aluminum cylinder when near empty. If your cylinder rides up in the second half of your dive due to cylinder buoyancy this tank weight pocket is what you need.

Constructed of durable yet soft nylon II neoprene rubber that won't damage cylinder finish if used with hard block weights with squeeze-style" side-release buckles for both adjustment to cylinder and weight retention. Seams are sewn for strength. SeaSoft tank weight pockets are just what you need.
