I love this compass. It provides a great back up to my dive computer. I really enjoy being able to have the option to either add the wrist strap but I decided to go with the clip that attaches to my BCD. Thank you!

I've used Suunto compasses for years.. worked very well for me as an instructor and for recreational dives. The new Suunto that I received on a retractor is excellent, easy to use, etc. One thing with this particular model of compass... it is a little fragile so it would be wise to carefully pack it for travel and when you rinse it. (don't just "toss" it in the rinse bucket)

Ok So.. I admit I'm a rookie...but this thing was a game changer for me. I no longer have to tilt my compass all over the place and cross my fingers I have it level. The tilt on this is awesome and leaves no guess work. I also want to add that I had no problems attaching this to my combo. Just a couple screws and bam!.. done. I am farsighted. I have Rx dive masks and I always have trouble reading my other compass. Well, not any more! The view window is plenty large! Ive used this thing numerous times and I haven't come up off course yet!. Until I bought this I admit I was getting off course more than I'd like to admit. As a new diver... This thing is GOLD! A must have for any diver!.

I bought this as a backup to my primary compass. I solo dive, so I have two of everything. After purchasing this brand a year ago, it became my primary and then bought this one to replace my secondary.

Hasn't froze on me and I had the 7 which froze at 65 ft. I would recommend this as I haven't had any issues with it yet and i've been down to 120ft with no issues.

Works very well. Using it tilted is just fine. Love it and depend on it.

The compass is very forgiving if not held perfectly level. The card does not stick unless held at an extreme angle. The bezel rotates easily enough, while the detents hold your setting. The side window is easy to see, although on my compass the degree markings were slightly off, bezel vs. side window, but certainly close enough for u/w navigation. My only gripe about the compass is the wrist band. The band is not a traditional watch type band. There is molded catch that must be popped into a hole for the band to hold securely. This is very difficult to do with a gloved hand. Also, the band has a knob on the end which prevents the strap from completely coming out of the buckle. This made it impossible for me to put the compass on my wrist while wearing a drysuit with dry gloves. Also, the band is a bit short to be worn over a drysuit. I replaced the band with a longer velcro band, and it works perfectly now.

This compass does not demand to be held exactly level when you are using it. It does not bind up like so many compasses do. You can't hold it at a 30 degree angle, but you don't need perfection either.

Was recommended to my by my boyfriend, then used it during Advance open water class. Scuba instructor noticed it on my wrist and had nothing but positive things to say about it and during my dives, it not disappoint. Looking forward to many more dives with it.

This is a product designed as a consumable, it will fail. I purchase one of these every 18 months or so. The plastic eventually fails from regular impacts. Unfortunately, with a Shinto you cannot easily use a different compass so you are stuck having to buy another. Do whatever you can to protect the compass when in use and when in storage.

I recently purchased 12 SK8 End Mount Compass units for my BSA Scuba Venture Crew. This now makes my advance diving equipment complete. We have 18 of these units now, and could not be more happy with them. The scouts put our crew equipment to the test, they are durable and easy to use.The Venture scouts love them.

Easy to read

Great compass. Easy for my old eyes to read.
Many divers take compasses for granted, considering them just an accessory to an overall dive gauge console system. Trying to navigate with a poorly designed or improperly functioning compass can be one of diving's more frustrating events. The SK-8 has set a new standard for dive compasses. The superior SK-8 features an exceptional tilt potential of +/- 30°, which is 2-3 times larger than in conventional diving compasses. SK-8, the latest edition of Suunto's leading dive compasses, delivers even better underwater performance with faster stabilization and enhanced readability. The instrument can be used over a wider area of the globe thanks to an upgraded magnet. The SK-8 Compass has easy-to-read numerals on a phosphorescent compass card, and a large side-reading window for gun-sight accurate navigation.
The firm-grip rotating bezel with a ratchet at every 5° is especially designed to prevent sand-and-dirt contamination, thus allowing smooth turning in all conditions. The compass bezel has compass headings in 30° numbered increments and indicator marks for every 5°. Bezel has twin heading indicators for alignment of compass course and a lubber line across the compass face. The compass is liquid filled for a quick and responsive movement. The compass is offered in 3 models depending on your diving requirements.
If wearing the compass on your wrist is preferred the compass comes in a durable rubber boot with adjustable wrist strap and is easy to mount on your wrist. Boot has side notch for side reading navigation. This model is great when you don't always need to carry a compass on every dive.
The compass is also available in an add-on-end model. Durable rubber boot allows easy mounting on the Vyper, Gekko and analog consoles to give the diver complete instrumentation. The compass boot also has side notch for side reading navigation.
The third model is an add-on-back model and will also work with Vyper, Gekko and analog consoles. The compass boot also has side notch for side reading navigation. All compass models come with an owner's.
Please note: The compass Leisure Pro sells is calibrated for Zone 1/NH (Northern Hemisphere)
