Fantastic computer! Loaded with function, easy to navigate through the menus, great visibility at the surface and under water, and compact. I couldn't ask for more in a wrist dive computer.

Most excellent purchase. I like this computer. 63 dives on it. I'm a recreational diver so I cant speak to all that supposed tech diver kinda stuff. But in the tropical waters of florida it works fine for me. you do have to charge it every night. Not a high capacity battery. Not a problem for me. Great compass. Transmitter is a bit big at the bottom so I used a XS scuba hp port extender now it clears the hoses fine.

First off, I love it, it’s easy to use and has tons of options to customize for divers more advanced and adventurous than me. There are a few caveats though: Battery life. It’s around 19 hrs of screen-on time, which is usually fine for me for an entire week long trip plus scrolling through logs and fiddling around in between. Just be aware you won’t be leaving this thing in your bag and slapping it on at the dive site. You’ll want to remember to charge it between dive trips. The charger is also proprietary so don’t forget it! It’s VERY conservative out of the box. It showed me longer stops and shorter bottoms times than my buddies oceanic did. I understand this can be tuned to your liking however, so that shouldn’t be a problem long term. Size. wearing this on your arm over a wetsuit is fine, and I didn’t notice the big size until I finally took it to the tropics. Then I realized how chunky the thing is. It didn’t like to stay put on my bare arm when I switched to a short suit. I ended wearing it tighter than usual to get it to cooperate, which worked out okay. You’re not going to wear this anywhere except while diving. It doesn’t work as a real world watch, and it looks like you’ve got a full size iPhone strapped to your arm. Watch-style computers have the market cornered on wearability. The pros: The color display is super easy to read, the alarms are audibly but not overly annoying (unless you ascend too quickly) and I love how the relevant information at the time takes over the largest portion of display. When you’re at the bottom, you get a big circle ticking down your NDL time remaining thats green when its full and turns red when it gets low. When you hit your safety stop after ascending to 15 feet, it changes to a countdown in minutes and seconds that starts red and gradually turns green as you are considered “safe to ascend” Really lovely compass and bearings, timer functionality is great. All around really recommend it if you don’t quite want to fork over the $$$ for a shear water but you want something thing high-end. Overall I think it’s great for most people. My girlfriend tried it on and it was just too big for her arm, so smaller divers should try it out before selecting it.

I have only ever owned Suunto dive computers, but have dived all sorts of others over the years. I went from a D4, to a D4i Novo and now to the Eon Core with which I had the intention of doing tech. I absolutely love how nice the screen displays the information and how customisable it is. In general it is really my most favourite computer to date. I have also recently purchase the Tank POD for it and that works extremely easily too. Overall a great computer. However now moving into the tech side, I was all excited to use it, and although you can, when others are planning on ZHL 16 it would just be nice to use that algorithm as an option. For tech it is just so much more predictable. I REALLY hope the Buhlmann ZHL 16 comes to the Eon Core also later this year in the update. Because at this point that is the only thing holding this back from being an awesome computer! If it doesn't, I am sad to say I might need to buy my first ever non Suunto computer and leave this one behind. It would be a pity as this computer excels in all other areas. Please bring ZHL 16 to the Eon Core too :) Thanks and keep up the good work.

Have been very impressed with this dive computer. Can see it really well underwater, and the sync to my phone and computer for my dive logs is great!

I have been using the EON Core for the last 11 months, close to 80 dives, with no issues. This computer meets all of the requirements that needed as a recreational and entry to intermediate level technical divers. Let me also mention that the pairing between the computer and sending unit (pod) is measured in seconds, not minutes! While my buddies that use other brands are waiting / hoping their units connect I am ready to dive. It's customizable screens, intuitive operation, and multiple gas capability make it my favorite computer ever! That was the list of Pros, and they far out way the cons... As for the cons... the EON Core does NOT like rapid ascents. As an instructor this is a huge inconvenience, but nothing more than an inconvenience! Another slight frustration is the Android mobile app (I'm not sure if the same anomaly exists in the Apple app). All of the measurements in the mobile app are in metric. I'll go ahead and answer the obvious question (because I would ask the same one) I have gone into settings and chosen the imperial radio button. Again I say that this is the best computer on the market for a recreational diver and even a beginning to intermediate technical diver.

My first short dive trip consisted of five dives, all on air, over six days with two no-dive weather days in the 6. After studying up and practicing with the computer for a few sessions before the trip I had no difficulties popping through the menus to configure as needed on the shore, boat or even when floating at the surface. That is mostly unnecessary to do, I was just putting it and me through the paces to gain complete competence in my new computer. I found that on a sunny day on a boat or at the surface the full bright setting is necessary to see the details on the screen. Practically speaking I feel that full bright will be my “default” setting at all times. That dramatically impacts estimated battery life, however, I still completed all five dives and a fair amount of dive log and planning work over the six days without a recharge. I think that is very adequate for my expectations. All of the dives were simple except one guided full-limit deep dive. I was very impressed with how the computer managed my time and stops after descending to 130 ft of depth to a zero no deco time. It directed me to do two deep stops and a mandatory safety stop. The audible alarm to prompt me on these procedures was easily heard. The screen displays were easily read and interpreted for easy compliance. The compass feature was straight forward and easy to use. It did a fine job of tracking and reporting my surface time between dives, and through days of no diving, to provide for my long-term protection. I was able to use the Tank Pod only on the surface before I left for the trip, so it’s use was incomplete. However, in testing, it paired easily and reported pressure intuitively. I’m looking forward to using it at depth. I will reevaluate my rating as I complete a multi-gas switching dive with use of the Suunto Tank Pods accessory. I chose the EON Core because my intentions are to train to PADI Tech 45 standards and this computer is well designed and intended for that flexibility. However, most recreational divers will likely be well served by one of Suunto’s lower cost, simpler computers. Since they run the same algorithm there would be no compromise in safety. Overall I am very happy with the EON Core’s performance.

Been using the Eon Core for 6 months now and absolutely love it. From the simplicity of the menus to the customizable screens, coupled with the crystal clear display, this computer ticks all the boxes. Being able to see my breathing statistics both in real time during the dive and after the dive via the logs with the Tank POD connected is very insightful. With the mixed gas and CCR abilities built in, this computer can certainly grow with you as your diving style changes and progresses.

I think this is a great dive computer. It is difficult to dive with it in bright sunlight and the oled screen protector provided is too large for the screen. Silly and annoying. The latest firmware (1.6.5) is a bit buggy, with the order of the customized button presses programmed not matching the order required when uploaded to the device. There is also no easy to find support email address or site. Fix this up please Suunto.

great computer easy to use. love the layout and functionality. easy to transfer dives to an electronic log. If I were going to change one thing, I would prefer if it displayed the nitrogen saturation. there is a graph the shows this in the log, however it would be better somewhere easy for a diver to to access in surface or dive mode. otherwise its a great device!

Having been a loyal Suunto user since I got certified 10 years ago, I love the Eon Core. It s easy to read due to its large color display without being heavy or bulky. Setup was simple and it is customizable. No matter what your skill level is, the Eon Core will grow with you as you progress. The rechargeable battery is strong enough to last multiple days of diving without needing to be recharged. Not having to go out and buy CR batteries will certainly be a plus. The new tank pod is easy to set up. Just turn on your Eon Core and it will do the rest. I look forward to many more dives with the Eon Core. Great product from a great brand that I have trusted throughout all my underwater adventures.

I do like this dive computer very much. I am not a young diver anymore. So, the large display, the ability to set the backlighting that is perfect for any diver is a nice feature. The other things that make it stand out above my other dive computers are the brightly colored large displays are easy to read, without being overly complicated to understand. Last but surely not least, is how easy it is to scroll through and find your setting with ease and get it set fast. I can't say enough great things about it. when your life depends on it, this is the dive computer I choose to depend on.

I purchased one of these for me and my wife along with the tank POD transmitters prior to going to Bonaire for a week. We dove 25 dives with these computers and were incredibly impressed at the battery life, the visibility underwater, the accuracy and the toughness. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new computer. Best dive computer I've ever owned.

This is a dive computer that I can read even in the worst of conditions, has all the bells and whistles that I require for recreational diving and it has a truly working electronic compass in a compact package. The battery is rechargeable which is a plus, but the charging/data cable is proprietary so you need to be careful to bring it with you if you travel, but I'm OK with that considering that the battery would last (allegedly) for 19 hours. It comes with a scratch protector, so I assume the glass is not impervious to scratches so if you are clumsy, this computer might not be for you.

This unit had many features found in my viper but the visibility and man machine interface is much better. My compliments to the software developers. The price is well worth the functionality and performance factor. However, please provide more information associated with the RGBM options per diver physical body characteristics.

During dives the computer responded extremely well to changes in depth, time, the easy to read bright and colorful screen with easy access buttons, were a dream to dive with. I liked it so much I purchased another one for my wife. I completely Love this computer!!!!

With the brightness of the screen at standard setting the computer was well readable even just below the surface. in complete darkness at 15m depth the screen was super! Above water it was far less readable. The complete customization of the screens with dm5 works well, compared to other features in DM5 (mac). I only miss the ability to show the current time at the max depth, gas time, timer, pressure, OTU, ... menus. In some views you can show the current time in the upper of lower left corner, but for me it is too small to read. The hardware is top! and if Suunto gets its surrounding software (dm5, movescount) to work better (for diving purposes in my case) it would make the experience complete!

I am looking forward to diving today with this computer,. Positive: BIG screen and immediate readings. Negative: it has taken me three hours to find HOW to download the dm5 software on a MAC!!! Suunto, listen up! Nowhere on your web site or YouTube do you give any instructions. For a MAC it requires TWO other programs to be installed, neither are recognized by Apple, so you have to know how to bypass this. Once these are successfully installed, then you can download the dm5 software. THEN, there are updates, which again no direction. It requires restarting computer. AND no direction of how to install the screen protector - which a YouTube video is the only place that says the screen scratches and should be the first thing you do. For this aggravating reason I can't give it 5 stars.
