Tough guy

First of all, my DM said "wow, big stuff" when he saw it. He is right, ScubaPro Nova 720 is a real tough guy, it's aluminum body which is good at shockproof and waterproof. Remember that you have to jump into the water with your torch, shockproof is very important at that time. Second, 800 lumen is good enough. I have picked the non-rechargeable version because I dive once or twice per year and I don't want to maintain one more rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery becomes weak if you ignore it. But if you dive every day, pick the rechargeable version is a wise choice. I didn't pick the wide angle version because using the wide angle is good for making videos. However, the narrow beam can go very far and that's very useful underwater, I can see true color from a long distance. Third, according to the official information, it can last for 10 hours. I think so because there are 3 C-Type cells inside. I used this torch on my last 5days liveaboard event and I didn't have to change the batteries. Fourth, twist on and off. It's a little bit different to other torches. I am afraid I will twist it to the wrong side so I practiced over 10 times at home to make sure that I have mastered it. However, I never lend it to anyone, my diving buddy, I want them to understand me. And that's why I have bought 2.

Great light

I love this light, it's bright enough for the Delaware River. Great looking light too.

Its just not easy to use

The light is bright, etc, but just not easy to use. It takes two hands to turn on and off (not easy if you spearfish). Even worse, the motion to turn it on is unreliable (it might not stay on). When the light is off, the underwater pressure may turn it back on without your awareness. It takes expensive lithium batteries, which are a real issue with flying and exposure to water.

Flooded on the second dive

I have two of these, this one and the one with the wide angle head. So far the wide angle has made it though ten dives (some pretty deep). However this one flooded the second dive. Total loss. I am not sure the twist on/off is the best choice for diving.... As a side note, the wide angle light is only good for lighting video from about 1 foot from your subject any further and the light just washes out. This one with the tighter beam has decent light as long as it still works. Although now that I have used it I would recommend something with 1000 lumens plus.

Really good light

Not only did I love it, the cleaning lady at the hotel I was at really liked it too. I guess that's why she stole it and not my dive knife that it was clipped to. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because you only get 1 dive out of it at full power before the batteries are drained to the point it goes into 50% mode. Invest in good rechargeable batteries if you plan to dive a lot. And it is pretty big. Figure the length of 4+ c cell batteries. Weights about 1.25 lbs and is negative about the same.

Let there be light.

Excellent light for day & night dives.

This compact rechargeable light throws a powerful, super-wide beam that's guaranteed to light up the night. The new Novalight 720R delivers the same outstanding performance and offers the same features as the standard Novalight 720R. Its light head is equipped with a CREE XPL U2 LED, capable of pumping out between 700 and 800 lumens of brilliant illumination. A 50% percent mode allows you to increase burn time if you don't need the full power. The Novalight 720R uses simple twist-on/twist off activation backed by double-O-ring seals. Strategically placed knurling (raised-up diamond-shaped indentations in the metal) improves grip and makes the twist activation that much easier. Shock-proof rubber protection on the end of the light head safeguards the electronics and provides an additional no-slip surface.

The Novalight 720R measures only 5.9" (15 cm) in length and is powered by a single 18650 lithium-ion battery (not included) that provides 2.5 hours of burn time. Rated to a maximum depth of 1000' (300 meters), the Novalight 720R is equipped with an overpressure valve on the end cap, an important safety feature not normally found on torches in the Novalight 720R price range. Any diver who likes a durable, compact light that stows easily in a BC pocket, and that recharges quickly and easily, is sure to be a big fan of the Novalight 720R. Light comes with an owner's manual.
