Very few quality vest-type BCs left on the market. Scuba Pro has always been my go to for high grade diving gear and this BC clearly shows with its fit and construction. Highly recommended for the serious and deep water scuba diver.

Most comfortable BC I have used, especially on the surface. I bought my first Classic in 1993. I have never been disappointed.

It was a great BCD for me starting out... and I really liked my maneuverability being "inside the bubble" with this, but I've got the Hydros now and there's no going back.

I started with one of the orange stabilizing jackets back in 79, then bought a Classic NT in 99, now I just bought a new classic that I will cherish hopefully for the next 20 years. I don't dive a lot, but prefer to have my own stuff instead of renting. That way I know what I have. A lot of stores suggested the Hydros, but I stuck with what I like. Great fit, I like the new weight pockets in the back, the new weight pockets in the front are a buckle design in the event they need to be dumped. Zippered pockets seem a little tight. The new neoprene piece sewn into the neck is very comfortable and should have been done along time ago. Will update further after Cozumel in August.

When I first started diving, I tried dozens of different BCDs. Honestly, they all seemed pretty much the same to me. Then I tried a ScubPro Classic. It took less than 10 minutes in the water to decide that I would never dive with any other BCD. The buoyancy and stability characteristics are amazing, permitting effortless control and movement. Many divers object to the Classic's design; they think it's too bulky. But once you're in the water, nothing else compares.

I have dove every generation of the Classic BC since I started Diving In 1986. There is no comparison to other style jackets (Back Inflate or Front Adjustable) in the market place for open water diving. Best lift Capacity, allows any postion underwater because of the wrap around air cell design and will float you higher on the surface than any other design. Take one for a test DIVE, you will not be disappointed!

After using the original Scubapro "Classic Black" BC for about 20 years and a few thousand dives, my last two of those durable BCs finally gave up the ghost and started to leak. So, of course I bought their replacement -- this "upgraded" model. This new version lacks the simplicity of its namesake, is incredibly heavy (especially after diving), and is poorly laid out -- the shoulder dump button runs right under the inflator hose, and so hits the button and dumps air all the time. I've used this model for about 100 dives over 2 years, and have tried to give it a fair chance, with an open mind, but I long for the original Classic Black because this one just isn't up to snuff.

It's not a travel BCD, is heavy, but I don't care. I love this BCD and I take it with me every time. Great companion.

I have used the Scubapro Classic BCs for many years. This is the "new" Classic and it is great also. Superior construction. I like the jacket style.

This is a great piece of equipment...couldn't believe the value at closeout price. fit, weight placement, and control are great with this BC- as I said, it makes me look good- not in a fashion sense, but as a solid, balanced, in control diver- which is pretty sweet for a 51 year old newbie!

I don't normally write reviews, but considering how much I depend on them myself I feel like I should when I've gotten such a fantastic product. This is one of the simplest, most durable BCD's I've ever used or seen in my years of diving. One word of caution: Choose your size wisely (SCUBARPRO BCD's tend to be a size larger: Someone normally a Large will fit comfortably into a Medium). If you've gotten a chance to try one on you know how comfortable they are, just keep in mind that the shoulder straps are actually part of the buoyancy pocket itself so there will be NO adjusting those. It's a hassle for "Rescue Diver" courses etc. when trying to remove but it's a wonderful piece of equipment at a good price.

Got this on sale for a great price. I really wanted to like it because it had everything I wanted and then some. I just could not get over the tight fit around the neck and shoulders. I am a fit 6-2 220 lbs (was a swimmer in college) and the XL BCD squezed the front of my neck and shoulders with my arms at 90 degs off my chest. If I went to a XXL it would have been way to big in the waist. I'm holding onto it while I order another traditional-style BCD (not jacket) that should fit my build better. I have note taken a dive in it so I am sure LeisurePro will take it back. It is a great BCD from a technical and construction stand-point, but if you have broad shoulders the jacket-style cut is not going to work for you.

I've been diving with Scubapro products since 1985, and the Stab Jacket is hard to beat. Yeah, there's new stuff out there and backmounts are hip, but the tired and provden Stab Jacket from Scubapro does it all. The cell structure makes for no "dead zones" and air moves as the diver moves. Check out and see what the pros use....

Complete control with this BCD. With no seperate bladders the air always keeps a twelve o'clock position. This allow the diver total freedom of movement at depth. Another review said "...Yoda of buoyancy..." I had to laugh but they were correct. All the buckles, d-rings and zippers are perfectly situated for all kinds of gear depending on one's own profile. The BC can hold enough weight, and has enough lift for a large person in cold water and still not feel cumbersome. Scuba Pro just came out with a newer model but the Pro Plus can't be beat for it's simplicity and quality. Don't even think twice! Pick this up while it's still available at this price! You won't regret it.

Unfortunately, scubapro changed their pocket design of this bc and the layout is terrible. The one big pocket is now divided into 2 small pockets that barely fit anything. Another poor design of this bc is the use of mesh in some of the pockets - it just doesn't last. Other wise, a really great bc

This BCD is great due to its excellent stability on the surface and uniform inflation properties. The wrap-around bladder inflation keeps you heads-up when resting on the surface and well balanced while underwater. The gear-attachment points are well placed and the release knobs for air-dumping are located in easily reached places, both front and rear. Because of the numerous bladders getting ALL of the water out after cleaning does take some patience, but I have found that if you partially inflate the BCD and allow it to sit undisturbed for a few hours after cleaning all of the trapped water pools in the bottom and can then be dumped out completely with minimal further effort. As a beginning diver who only rented inferior gear up to now, I am very happy with this BCD.

The BCD's safety feature are excellent. The craftmanship and quality are very good but most importantly, due to BCD's size, this is an excellent BCD for warmer water diving.

Had a stab jacket in the 80's. I tried the rear inflate, the Scubapro stab jacket is the best. Just pick one up and feel the material and weight of it. This BC is for the serious diver.

I used this BC during my open water class. I looked at several BCs while shopping. It was a tough choice between this and the knighthawk. I chose the Classic Plus, because I knew it was comfortable. It is a well made BC.

I am a professional Inspection diver and this is the BC I use. I am completely happy with it's control, function and durability. I have also had multiple initeractions with Scubapro and find their service and customer support to be outstanding.
The stabilizing jacket remains the BCD style choice of experienced divers because of its dynamic control system. Stabilizing jackets reject the idea of air bladders within BCDs; instead, they use internal air passages that basically embrace the diver and allow air to remain dynamic inside the jacket. This air flows freely to the jacket's highest point, which allows the diver to basically rotate around a bubble. This adds stability and creates ease of motion for the diver. As divers around the world will attest, this design's attributes have made the stabilizing jacket the most widely-used BCD of all time. The new Classic combines the best features past and present. This version incorporates a new look and radio frequency (RF) seam welding technology with Scubapro's unbeatable rugged performance the Classic is known for. Discerning divers will appreciate details like the easy-access chest pockets.
The Classic is equipped with the super cinch tank band Scubapro's stainless steel cam action buckle system for easy adjustment and secure grip. The Air cell is made from 420-denier nylon with a polyurethane coating that is puncture resistant. Quick-release integrated weight system offers more comfort and convenience. Pouches accommodate from 10 lbs to 12 lbs (4.54 kg to 5.44kg) each (depending on size) and are secured in specially-designed pockets with oversized buckles. Two rear trim pockets counterbalance front weights and provide a well-balanced swimming position with 8 lbs to 10 lbs (3.6 kg to 4.54kg) capacity. 6 stainless steel D-rings for long-life heavy wear & tear allow accessory attachments and 2 zippered and 2 hook and loop pockets provide plenty of storage space for gloves, light, dive tables and more. Knife mounting grommets makes an emergency or utility knife easily accessible in any situation.
The Classic has a padded back pack that is fast drying for ultimate comfort in and out of the water. Fully Adjustable Cummerbund immediately adapts to different morphologies and suit thicknesses on the spot a stainless-steel latch buckle and nylon webbing belt along with an adjustable sternum strap with squeeze-style side release buckle make donning and doffing quick and easy.
The Classic BCD comes with Scubapro's Air2 and has a 3-dump deflation system that enables divers to dump air from a variety of underwater positions. In the up-right position you can use either the left-or-right shoulder pull-dumps with the right shoulder pull cord or the left shoulder integrated cable activated power inflator shoulder dump. When inverted in the water the lower right rear pull dump can facilitate buoyancy trim. The Classic BCD provides 27 lbs to 67 lbs (12.25 kg to 30.4kg) of lift depending on size and weighs 9.22 lbs to 11 lbs (4.18 kg to 5kg). BCD comes with an owner's manual and is black/grey in color.
BCD comes equipped with Scubapro's AIR2 Breathable Inflator. When you took dive lessons you learned to perform specific skills to make you safe and comfortable underwater and at the surface. One of those skills was buoyancy control. Once you start diving for fun you use your buoyancy control devise constantly throughout the dive. Your octopus or alternate air source devise on the other hand is never used unless there is an emergency out-of-air situation. Reacting properly in an out of air situation can make the difference between an eventful dive and a tragedy. If your alternate air source and your BCD inflator devise are one and the same, you will always know where to find it in an emergency. AIR2 is more than a simple inflator. Its components design takes advantage from the best regulator technology to guarantee maximum efficiency and reliability. As an inflator AIR2 provides perfect pressure control for a great buoyancy management. Ergonomic shape makes it easy-to-handle in any circumstances and it can be emptied by simply pressing the exhaust button.
AIR2's air balanced power inflator provides smooth and reliable inflation at all tank pressures. Single hose configuration eliminates the need for a separate alternate air source. Fixed VIVA flow vane for safe and uncomplicated use one-hand operation for instinctive and simple operation the self-flushing mechanism requires just one push on the purge to clear away all dirt. The AIR2 uses a classic downstream valve for less maintenance and reliability. The housing is a precision molded carbon fiber and techno-polymer impact resistant design that weighs 6.7 oz (190g). The AIR2 comes with a 3/8" threaded 27.56" (70cm) high-flow low-pressure hose an owner's manual.
