Scubapro Aladin A1 Dive Watch Wrist Computer

I like diving with this computer a lot, especially because I travel very light on trips and it is only a little bigger than a regular men's watch. It is also simple and easy to use and supported in Subsurface via the Bluetooth LE connection. UNFORTUNATELY there are several issues with the battery: 1. The battery check function is extremely inaccurate/useless. I checked the battery capacity before a recent trip, and it said 'High'. During the first dive of the trip it started saying 'Low'. On the second dive of the trip it began beeping and saying 'Replace Low' and by the next day most dive functions were locked out. The specifications on the Scubapro product page says: "Estimated Battery Life: 3-5 Years / 300-500 Dives" which is absolute nonsense. The battery will not last 2 years with less than 100 dives total before it needs replacement. One should probably send it in for replacement once a year to avoid surprises on a trip. 2. The computer MUST be sent to Scubapro/UWATEC for a battery replacement. It cannot be replaced by anyone else. This will cost at least $100 and take at least a month, not counting shipping time. Also you must send it through a dealer and cannot send it directly to Scubapro. I have done this twice already and would probably do it again if I could send it directly to Scubapro, but am not willing to jump through the extra hoops of taking it to an authorized dealer so they can mail it for me. I won't do this just to have a spare dive computer. (After this computer died during my recent trip, I purchased a Shearwater Tern from the dive shop where I was staying in Bonair) I purchased the Scubapro Aladin A1 when it was still more than $500, its costs half that now IF you can find one, but the Shearwater is rechargeable, has a much better screen, and Shearwater support is excellent, so My Aladin A1 is now retired. On a positive note after returning home the battery is now back to 'Medium' and I was able to transfer all my dives of and into Subsurface, so there is no compelling reason to get the battery replaced anyway.

Being new to diving, this dive computer is just what I needed. Very simple to use and nice large number that are easy to see.

It's a great overall dive computer! I'm still getting used to it. And haven't used all its functions and features but I did take it on a my first dive a couple of of days ago and it logged everything beautifully!

This was my first dive computer.. I think I paid 300 dollars for it, and I bought a watch style dive computer as it functions on many levels including a piece that can be worth daily on my dive trips. This watch definitely was a good start to learning how to use dive computers. The functions are basic but navigating the menu only took a minor learning curve, and was intuitive after that. Everything the watch is supposed to be able to do was done perfectly... I will say the bluetooth connection to my phone that allows you to actually download your dive profiles was legit stable and fast. Overall I was very please with this dive watch.

I like how easy this computer is to work other than a few things could be given in more detail for being my first computer some things don't understand about it but is very good quality

This computer comes as a replacement for the Matrix dive computer. While it doesn't have wireless air integration, it has almost every feature a weekend water warrior needs. It has a simple to use menu, high contrast screen and very even and bright backlight. It has a solid build quality using high grade plastic and a nice metal bezel. Wrist band is durable and comfortable, boxed with an extension band if you have King Kong size wrists. Overall I am super happy with the device!
