Questions & Answers

HILDA B : How much does this bag weigh?Federico V : Approximately 4.95 lbs.PAUL P : off the top of my head, I'd guess 3-5 pounds. This lift bag is very heavy duty and works well but is difficult to fold and exhaust all the air at the surface for easy submergence. You basically have to fold it up filled with water at the surface to submerge. I use a bit goody bag to eliminate the need for tight folding which is difficult underwater and while submerged right near the surface.
Shopper : How much weight lift ?Federico V : The lift bag I purchased is a C-200 and is rated for lifting 220 lbs. I mostly use it to remove debris and derelict crab traps during underwater cleanups. A plastic crab trap with concrete ballast (55 lbs aprox.) requires between 300-350 lbs of lift if completely embedded in the sand/mud. Federico Vazquezrobert w : This bag has a rating of 500 lbs. of lift. Just be cautious of other stresses on the bag (item to be salvaged stuck in the mud or entanglements. For safety I would decrease the rated capacity by 10%.Walter M : It is rated at 100 lbs lift. I have not had to test it’s limits yet but it is quite large, with very thick material and reinforces straps.Shane C : It’s rated for 500 lbs. I think I read somewhere that it could lift up to 580 lbs. BUT.... I have tried to lift a 250 lbs. mushroom mooring suck in silt at 10 ft. and wouldn’t budge it until dugout but as stated before it was stuck in the mud like it’s design to do.
amanda t : could 2 of these be used under a dock to provide enough lift to add a 1000 lift float?PATRICK F : do not think that this would be the right type bag for that. This bag is designed to lift from the straps on the bottom. It works great for me moving my mushroom shaped moorings in the lake.MICHEL J : yesCHRISTOPHER C : No. They are designed to lift objects below the bag.LARRY D : Not exactly sure about the question. Are you asking if two could lift a thousand pounds? If that's the question, I don't think they could. I've never tried to lift that much but I don't think they've got 500 pounds of oomph, each. I haven't used mine that much, and I'm not even sure what their "rating" is. Sorry not to be of more help.
Shopper : how much air does it take from your tank for each lift in a 500 lb lift bag?ROY M : Depends on how deep you are. The deeper you are the more volume it takes to fill the bag. Just like in scuba class as you go to another ATM of pressure the more it takes to breathe. Same with the bag. A 500 lb bag will take a lot of air to fill at 100 feet. Also depends on what weight you are lifting. If you are lifting only a 200# object, you only partly fill the bag till it starts to rise. A 500 lb bag is a large bag. if I was filling it i would be using a swing tank. You could use as much as 1/4 to 1/3 of an Alum 80 to that that job. Not using my back gas to do that.GARY S : I haven't used it to lift 500 lbs. It doesn't take very much to get it to raise. I was beneath the bag, towing it, and my exhaust bubbles were going inside causing it to rise. It is easily controllable with the dump valve.KEVEN Y : If I were to ask this question my self I would rather turn in my cert cards and never dive again its basic physics or if you must really know.....all of itMIYUKI S : I contacted Subsalve. Their reply was "It is a function of depth. Approx. 8 cuft at the surface, 16 cu ft at 33â??." This is not to say you should fill it excessively at depth as the air would expand as you go up. And the item you are lifting is a factor as well. If you don't have experience lifting large items I would leave this in the hands of professionals. This is a potentially dangerous situation.ROY M : Depends on the size and type of tank. Low or high pressure, 80-100-130 cubic feet? I can tell you how much I use to fill my 200 lb bag. Using my 133 HP steel tank, filling the 200 lb bag tanks about 250 psi. Really you would need to use cubic feet of air rather than psi. So rough it out would come out to about 5 or 6 cubic feet of air.KEN B : It depends on the weight of the object being lifted the depth etc... The smallest amount of air can begin sending the bag to the surface. You will only put enough air in it to get the object started on the way up... you want a controlled lift - so you don't want to cram the bag full of air... small little puffs in until the object lifts off the bottom. As it rises you need to vent air out of the bag to keep the lift under control. The deeper the bottom started from, the more the air volume will expand on the way up... so it is critically important to control the lift so the item doesn't shoot out of the water like a rocket at the surface. This could cause damage to the item, a boat, another human being etc... and can also result in the item plummeting back to the bottom should it become dislodged or break free.CANDY H : You only need to put in enough to lift it from the bottom then swim it up a several feet and it will take off to the surface as the air expands. You may want to take a 13 CF tank if you're concerned about using too much of your life support gas. Salvaging something weighing up to 500# can be dangerous. You should know what you are doing or you can get hurt or worse.
Shopper : What color is the 100lb bag?NAT A : just like the photo. Beautiful Beige !!KENNETH R : As pictured. Beige/tan with yellow band.YOVANNY H : its like beige my friend..KENDALL B : Mine is orange.

Subsalve C-200 Lift Bag

Although it is not easily foldable, it is a very well built commercial lift bag that will last for years to come. I will buy another Subsalve lift bag anytime.

Works as expected

This lift bag is very sturdy, neutraly buoyant when empty and easy to handle in the water. The dump valve rope is very useful to be able to add and remove air from one location.

Very good lift bag!

Easy to control manual dump, not as durable as my previous Subsalve yellow commercial lift bag. I used the Subsalve C120 to transport a gate to a popular cave. Unfortunately I damaged the lift bag on the cave ceiling, the cost of the repair kit was close to what I paid for a new lift bag. I'll probably buy another lift bag from LeisurePro due to their great savings and fast service!

subsalve lift bag

a really tough bag. I moved a 200 h.p. outboard (with the aid of a smaller bag for balance) with no problem. I would highly recommend this bag for small projects.

Best liftbags in the world!

The hard wearing no-nonsense Subsalve series of liftbags [this is one of the smallest]is by far the most professional on the market. [Valves are milspec and not Chinese]we use them for scientific work and they perform, you can lift gear without fear of the material ripping [ie sharp protruding objects]. They do the job and with ease, -tip- don't get cheap gear it only lets you down in the end.. Get Subsalve!

Heavy duty

Ordered this lift bag to help bring anchors up in local lake. This bag is heavy duty and does not roll up tight and small, so if you are looking for a compact lift bag this isnt it, but if you need one thats durable and works great this is a nice lift bag. It does roll up and has a velcro strap to keep it rolled up but it is a little bulky.

Initial Review

My initial inspection. I needed a 200lb lift bag. And buying this bag seemed cheaper than buying multiple smaller lift bags. When it showed up to my house I was pleasantly surprised to see the color of the liftbag was bright yellow. I prefer that over the tan color in the picture online. The material feels thick and durable. Definately feels commercial grade compared to some of my more compact floats. Folded up it's 8.5 x 9 x 12.5 inches. Feels like it's built to last. Can't say anything more until I try it out in the water.

Good item to have in the salvage arsonal

Salvaged a 300 lb. mushroom anchor, with 1/2" chain, submerged in at least 3 feet of mud with no problem with this bag (500lb bag). very easy to use, but would def. recommend buying the extended straps and the pelican marker float to use as a tag line / surface marker, as diving in New England (Boston, Ma to be specific) is sometimes a zero-vis operation. Easily payed for itself in two salvage dives.
