Shopper : Has the leak issue been fixed with this light?YAN G : There was a problem with the switch, but Princeton tec did correct that issue, and all the new ones have the update. Can be identified by 40th anniversary sticker on box.
ANDRE R : IS IT THAT THIS SECTOR 5 CAN ONLY GO FOR 3 HOURS ON BRIGHT?KEVIN F : Correct. The light will burn at 500 Lumens for 3 hours, at which point it will continue to output light but as battery life decreases so will the brightness. 24 hours is the total amount of burn time for a set of fresh batteries.
LING W : Does this have the Hi/Low power mode of the miniwave II that it seem to be replacing? Also, what is its beam width?Joe P : Hi. My name is Joe Pie from Austin Texas. The sector 5 beam width is relative to how far away from your subject you are. I have 3 of these and can say the beam hot spot is about 30 inches in diameter when you are 8-10 feet away and shine it on a wall, the peripheral halo ( also very Bright ) is about 10 feet in diameter. The light is bright, but a tighter beam would be better. If your budget is tight its a good choice.

Decent light

Received it as a replacement for old burned out mini-wave flashlight. Was suspicious that the box it came with did not have the 40th anniversary sticker. Took it for 5 or so dives and had no leak issues. Beam is not as broad as the old mini-wave, which is focused via reflector and lens, while this one is just reflector. Switch only have 1 setting instead of the high/low, and my wife couldn't turn it on the first time because of the high effort required. I didn't think it was a problem though. It doesn't seem to have lifetime warranty though, so am not sure if the old one's lifetime warranty, which got replaced by this, still has a lifetime warranty.

Solid light!

LEAKER!!!

Helped a friend pick this light. It flooded on the first dive. LP let us send it back for a new one, but it did the same thing on the first dive. This light has a serious design flaw! DO NOT BUY THIS LIGHT!!!

Leaks like a seive

I bought two of these lights. I took the first one down (in Hawaii) and it became intermittent after 10 minutes, then went out. At the surface, water and rust poured out. The next day I took the second light down, being careful not to over-tighten the housing (per advise read on the internet) and inspecting everything 3 times. It performed the same. It seems the switch has a severe problem.

works great on land

First one leaked on the first dive. I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement leaked on the first dive. I've had great luck with other Princeton Tec lights, I think this one has an issue with the new switch design

The Princeton Tec Sector 5 pistol grip spotlight packs 550 lumens of brightness. The light is powered by four C-cell alkaline batteries (included) which keep it compact while providing 24-hours of total burn time with a 3-hour regulated medium bam with over 557.75' (170 meter) of visible distance on land. The trigger switch is easy-to-use with gloved hands; access momentary on via a half pull of trigger and constant on via full pull of trigger. The switch locks out to prevent accidental illumination and battery drain while in transit or storage.

The highest quality LED available from LUMILEDS, Princeton Tec's Max-Bright LED is extremely bright and efficient.
