Shopper : what are the dimensions of this light? Will it fit in a small bc pocketMARTIN M : 2.5 x 6.5 inches fits on the side pocket of both my Scubapro and Mares BCDSTEVEN B : The light will fit in a small pocket of a BC. I hook mine to the front of my BC for quick retrival. The dimentions are 6"long X 3" dia at the widest part.
Shopper : my switch got broken inside any ideas how to get it fixed or workin again?ALEX B : contact Princeton TecRUSSELL W : The switch can be replaced. I got one from contacting Prinston Tec. it was very easy to replace. A small Phillips head screw on the inside of the case. it comes with the O-rings too. Not expensive!CELIA M : Several years ago I also had a problem with the switch on an older Tec 400 light. I called Princeton Tec directly and they said it was still under a lifetime warranty. I shipped it back and promptly received a new replacement. Give them a call. Your light may also still be covered by a generous warranty. Good luck. CHARLIE V : I have several lights - sorry, is that the twist on model or the sliding little piece?
Shopper : Hi, what are the dimensions? I am looking for a compact back up light for penetration dives. Is this compact enough to fit in a VCR pocket or would you recommend another one? Thanks PaulKEITH G : Its about 6" long and 3" wide. I've used it several times while spearfishing in rocks. It has held up well and is reliable; all while I haven't exactly taken great care of it. My only complaint is that its not very bright.LARRY C : Hi, Paul, My Princeton Tec is six inches long and 8-1/2 inches around at its widest part. When I had a jacket-style BCD, if fit nicely in one pocket. I've bought these over the years for my wife and myself, and they generate plenty of light underwater. Larry C.DIANE B : my answer was cut off; sorry....the light is bigger than it looks in the photo. It measures 6 inches long and 2 1/4 inches wide. It is 444 grams (or nearly 1 lb). It fits in my BC pocket when I use it for a backup for night dives. My husband uses his for illuminating crevices when we lobster hunt and he just tucks it into his BC belt with the lanyard wrapped around the BC D ring. I'm glad I have it. It's durable too.GEORGE D : Its a great light, but not really compact. I like the Ikelight PCa great little light, I carry it as a backup but use it as a primary in some tropical locales.DIANE B : all in all, it's a great light and we've been happy with it.MIKE C : I am not sure what a VCR pocket is. But you can judge the size by imagining 4 C cells in the body. It is about like an average home flashlight (not mini at all). I use it for backup now. The light is quite narrow and yellowish. When taking video, as I set my white balance at depth, it comes out like a red light saber. I now use a large LED light for primary. Hope this helps.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?GEORGE H : Good primary light, if needed and water-tight all the time.ERIC V : PRICE BUT DID NOT WORKSTEVEN B : Price is alls I can sayDAVID V : The best back up light I have purchased. They are bullet proof! I have since given many as gifts.

Horrible. Pulled out of case & dove with it. Turned off 3 minutes into the dive and would not come back on. Changed batteries & bulb. Still never worked. Thank god for back ups.

reliable backup light

This is a good back-up light at a reasonable price. My wife and I bought two of these about 17 years ago and we just replaced hers which was inadvertently damaged. Mine always stays in my BC pocket night and day (looking under ledges).

Solid, go-to light.

This is a solid light. The four batteries you need to power the light come with it...inside when you open it up. The light is ready to go in the box/tube. The case is well-designed and the "on" switch is easy to use. I bought it for the lumens and the price. I felt comfortable buying it because of the reviews. I feel comfortable using it because it performs like everyone says it does.

flooded the first time down

By the end of the first dive, I noticed that this light was on and would not turn off. Turns out that it flooded and the switch contacts failed.

Worthless!

My dive buddy and I both got these to use for wreck diving mostly and to try to use during night dives. I used it once and it broke and flooded. My buddy's broke when we went to 90ft. during a wreck dive. We had to throw them away. Really disappointed.

Okay Product, Good customer service

Took the light on 4 dives to Florida. Upon returning and pulling batteries for storage the light was found to be flooded. Leisure Pro replaced it for me. Good customer support by Leisure Pro will keep me coming back to look at products because I know they will stand behind what they sell.

Great small light for snorkeling or divi

My wife and I each have one of these for daytime snorkeling and night diving. It's a bright, compact light with long life and excellent reliability. So much easier to manage on a dive than the larger handle lights, but produces plenty of light for night dives.

Great light for the price!

I used it in a cave dive when my main light failed. It worked great as a backup. The light has a nice solid feel to it. Well worth the price I paid for it. The only down side is the handle feels slippery to me on dry land.

it was ok

turning on was tricky. The switch would not always turn on the light. At times the switch had to be in just the right location before the light would operate. It was not as easy as on off. And at times it would not turn on right away.

Just right

We have been using the TEC 400 for over 3 years now. It's a great day light for peeking into dark places and a nice back-up for night dives. In the tropics it may be the only night dive light you need to use but bring something as a back-up just because.

I think I got a dud with this one

I have used one of these as my primary dive light about ten years and it was great. However, I lost that one on the last dive trip to California's Channel Islands, I think the lanyard broke. The one I just purchased to rplace it was sitting on a counter when it got bumped and it fell 3 feet onto the carpet and now it won't work. I changed the bulb but it seems to be the switch which broke. I'll have to send it back to Princton to get it fixed. It doesn't seem to be as rugged as the first one I had but I'll stick with Princton anyhow.

Good relation Price/Efficiency

This is a good light, the batteries really last a long time, so you don't need to worry about it. It's really easy to find accessories for replacement and the focus is really good. The only problem, I think is the waterproof system that could be better...(2 o-rings instead of only one). In general, it's a good light, I recommend.

Great backup light

Clever design provides for spare bulbs stored right in the housing. Very good battery life. Decent amount of light, certainly more than sufficient as a back up light.

Great little light. I had my first one for about 10 years before breaking the lense. I didn't hesitate when it came to ordering another light. This light goes with me on every dive.

Good Light

By Joe H.

Good long lasting light. I bought this light to go with the one that I already have.

The old faithful of Princeton Tec's dive line, the TEC 400's classic and rugged design has been a staple in the dive industry for decades. 4 C-Cell (included) batteries power the clean halogen bulb for up to 5 hours of underwater light with an adjustable burn time. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks", but with a light as reliable as the TEC 400, why would you want to?

The Halogen lamp provides 49 lumens of brightness and the simple thumb switch makes one hand operation a snap. Light has a visible light distance on land in high output mode of 548' (167 meters) and in low output mode 438.3' (133.6 meters). Light comes with an adjustable rubber sleeved wrist lanyard and an additional long burn bulb. The Tec 400 Flashlight is made from high impact resistant polycarbonate plastic, weighs 19.97 oz. (566 g) with batteries, is depth rated to 330' (100 meters) IPX8, is available in multiple color choices and comes with an owner's manual.
