Even with cleaning after a dive they rust...at least where the pin is. So it's only a matter of time before failure.

Scubamax Stainless Steel Safety Shears Review - Scuba Gear Reviews

These arent high quality but for the price I thought Id give em a try.
OMS Sea Snips with nylon sheath. The sheath mounts to any 2" (5.1cm) webbing and has a hook and loop closure. Snips measure (L x W) 8.5" x 2.5" (21.9cm x 6.3cm) with a plastic D-ring at the base. Can be mounted vertically in either position with handle pointed up or down as you prefer. Shears are securely enclosed by the nylon flap top when not in use. OMS logo in yellow is screen printed at the bottom. These OMS stainless-steel Sea Snips with plastic coated finger grips easily cut through line, net, rope, kelp, and thin steel cable. This product works well in emergency situations where a knife might not.
