Questions & Answers

Volkan B : You are selling IQ Backpack right? Not a lite model.Mario C : Good morning here is the link to the OMS page where you can see the IQ we are selling. https://omsdive.com/products/iq_backpack?variant=40587811730 Hope it helps
Shopper : Does the IQ pack works without additional backplate?ROY M : I have never dove my IQ harness without a backplate. The harness attaches with eyebolts to the wing. You would have to use eyebolts and the metal wing clips to attach the two together if you did not use a backplate. I use mine with a stainless backplate and a double bladder 95 OMS wing. I use double 100 hp steel tanks most of the time. I do use It with my singles also. I use a stainless steel tank adapter and backplate on my 120's and 130's. This is an awsome rig, but i think its works best with the back plate. Its also looks awsome with that big red bladder.JEFFREY H : It does need a backplate. I have over a hundred 50 dives with it and I am happy with it so far. I had a Halcyon before and I like the way this fits me. I'm 6ft and 200lbs. I fit perfect into a large in all suits.JONATHAN B : No. Try the Dive Rite Transpac. It has a semi rigid backplate. All you need are the STA plates for doubles and you are in bussiness. Nothing is needed for singles. Much better system.Lanny P : Yes, It was designed to/works fine without a backplate. That was a serious consideration for my purchase of the IQ. I've used mine many times with single Steel 120s without any problems at all. Skip the backplate unless you're the type who wears a belt WITH suspenders to hold up your pants.KERA L : Yes, but it is much more comfortable with a backplate. I have never used it without a backplate.DAVID F : Yes it does, but I find it much more stable with the backplate. Plus, the backplate adds weight, which you can take off your hips
JAMES D : Which weight pockets do you recommend?DAN W : Hi, I don't know what kind of diving you plan on doing so I will give my opinion on the two weight pockets I have. I have both the No Sag weight pocket and the Compact weight pocket. The No Sag pockets are are big and bulky, lots of storage space for a lot of weight and have an emergency dump option. I find them to be cumbersome. The Compact weight pockets are what I personally use, they are good for holding about 6 to 8 lbs each, maybe 10 but it might be a tight fit. There is no emergency dump option and you will need some kind of OMS Billy Ring or other type of Weight Keeper to hold them in place. They are very streamline when swimming horizontally close to the bottom where as the No Sag pockets tend to hang down a bit. That"s my opinion, hope it helps.PETER M : Personally, I don't recommend using weight pockets on the harness. I have mine on a separate belt, and small ankle weights (I dive a drysuit). The reason I say this is that you may need to ditch weights in an emergency and the harness takes too long to deal with. Also, if you are thin like me, there isn't much room left on the waist band for pockets when you cinch it down. Another downside to putting weights on the harness is that the combined weight of the tank and weights is very unwieldy to haul into a boat or lift onto your back out of the water. That being said, I do have a couple of OMS pockets I use on the harness from time to time for a safety sausage and john line when I'm diving from a boat in current and rough conditions. You will need some keepers to prevent them from sliding off inadvertently. If you are set on putting weight pockets on the harness, make sure they are easy to access and have velcro and a pull tab you can feel through gloves in case you need to ditch some weight. Also, I don't recommend the type that has a bottom dump velcro, as they sometimes catch on things and dump weight when you don't want them to. Hope this helps.DAVID F : I use an aluminum plate, plus a DUI harness. I don't like weight pockets - and I don't like the weight on my hips.DWAYNE S : Actually I dont recommend any. After a 100+ dives using the OMS quick dumps I converted over to a traditional weight belt. Its difficult to load integrated weight pockets with the BP/W on, so you have to load before you put it on so you are lifting the tank, BP, harness, and weights. This gets real old quick.VOLODIMIR K : I bought OMS weight pockets, but these are so uncomfortable that I ended using a weight belt. In addition since this harness and BCD are of the technical character weight pockets are not recommended for these dives. My 2 cents: use the belt and don't buy any weight pockets.SCOTT F : I use the OMS 6lb backplate and the OMS mini weight pockets mounted on the tank. These pockets can handle 5lbs each and maybe more if you use soft weights. If I need more I use a weight belt so I can ditch it if needed.
Shopper : Does IQ pack have a lifting ring between the shoulders?LeisurePro S : Yes, the IQ harness has a lifting ring between the shoulders.
Shopper : Does the IQ Pack come with Cam bands or nesscasry hardware to attach a wing BC.LeisurePro S : The IQ pack does not come with cam bands, you would add the OMS Single Cylinder Adaptor with Cam Bands (SKU# OMSSCA) . Item DIVT3 comes with the bands already. Both have the hardware to mount the wings, just not the wings themselves.

the best and most versatile tech bc

I've done many hundreds of hours with this bc and the double bladder wing, usually with twin 120's or twin 95's. I've used the stainless and aluminum backplates and find the aluminum just fine and a bit less to haul around. AT this price people should snap up a set- these are far superior to the new gen of DIR stuff that is a copy of this old school and long optimized rock solid gear.

Value for money

The later version of IQ pack is comparable to Apeks similar product. The material not as tough or as heavy duty like apeks but it is good enough for all type of diving. It is a very versatile piece of equipment. Can almost configure anyway I want. Will recommend to my divers in Singapore.

Very pleased

I was very pleased when I got the product was dropped off at my house ahead of schedule. I did as much setting it up as I could that same day. Sadly I have not been able to try the harness in the water yet due to the water being frozen.

Great System

This is the system we use at NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory. They hold up extremely well to the thousands of hours of bottom time we put on them every year--even with the severe discoloration from chemical exposure in the water there. This is a great system. It is very comfortable. I have a closet full of gear/B.C.'s; however, this is my primary/go-to unit. If I had to keep just one, it would be this one -- hands down...

Excellent quality.

I use this IQ pack with a 32lb.wing and a single tank. Have used it in the cold midwestern lakes and quarries in my drysuit(down to 38deg.F)and also used the same set-up in Florida with a shorty wetsuit(high 80's F) without any problems whatsoever. My only recommendation is to change to rigid 'D' rings on the waist strap.

The best tech gear on the market, bar none! I also use the single cam band and 35lb bladder for rec diving with comfort and ease.
