Shopper : How do I remove the compass from the Pro Plus 2 compass boot? I need to replace thanksGREG W : There are screws to undueALBERTO Z : look for the 2 tork screws (star shape tool) underneath the compass. DO NOT remove the screws in the front of the computer as it will break the gasket seal. Once you have removed the two screws, exert a bit of force upwards (not too much force, it will break the compass boot). If it does not come off, I had that happen to me, shake it back and fourth a bit until is loose, then remove it. Hope this helpsMATTHEW S : you just pull (hard). I used a flat-bladder screw-driver to get under the sight-glass. The compass is held in place by a semi-flexible ring of plastic. It has a groove which 'mates' with a ridge in the plastic and keeps it in place. good luck!

I am not 100% sure that your anticipated compass perfectly fits the regualator that you have. But I think that it does. So why not buy the compass and if it does not go into place perfectly return it as the "wrong" size. There is a curve ball in fitting it together but once you figure it out, it was easy and is attached very well.PHILLIP C : If the compass is for the same model computer - pro plus 2.1 then yes. the compass replaces the top handle - as i recall it does come with instructions. If not it replaces the top handle - with the compass in your hand any screws / attachments should be obvious.
Shopper : what is the difference between the datamax, the pro plus 2 and the pro plus 2.1?Brett H : The datamax was the original computer in this series many years ago. Recently the pro plus 2 was updated to the 2.1, with this update they added increased memory to log dive data with, made the computer firmware upgradable, and gave the computer data retention during a battery change so you won't loose decompression data if you have to swap the battery.

Oceanic Compass Review

This is a fluid filled compass with no bubbles in the fluid. My original had bubbles. The degrees are bright and easy to see. The bezel has small bumps on it make it easy to grip and turn. Some may think it turns too freely, as it has little friction. It seems like a high quality piece of equipment with an equally high price tag. It mounts with two small screws and is a direct replacement for the older model. I am happy with it, it seems better than the original.

CAUTION

Purchased Computer w/ Compass Summer of 2011. Recently went on a trip to Cozumel and noticed the bezel to my compass was missing. I'm not 100% certain it was missing prior to the trip or on the trip. To say the least, I am totally bummed. I purchased the item at the time for $$$ now it basically functions as a computer only without a working compass. It now would cost $50+ to replace the compass. Frankly I do not want to replace the compass in the computer because I believe the same thing will happen. The bezel bottom line is "weak". If you decide to purchase this item, do so without the compass and invest in a hose or BC attachment. I have searched to replace the bezel, but no luck. It will likely be cheaper to just replace the compass as a whole. Otherwise...this computer is "awesome" and worth the money. Just get it without the compass. Happy Diving.

Upgrade your Oceanic Pro Plus or Pro Plus-2 computers with navigation capabilities by adding this Compass Kit. Kit includes: SWIV Compass, durable rubber mounting boot with bracket and screws. Many divers take compasses for granted, considering them just an accessory to an overall dive gauge console system. Trying to navigate with a poorly designed or improperly functioning compass can be one of diving's more frustrating events. The design team at Oceanic may have designed the best Liquid Filled Compass available today with a list of features as functional and convenient as every instrument that bears the Oceanic name.

The SWIV is a dual-purpose compass. The convenient side scan window allows quick reference of large, easy-to-read bearing indicators on a luminescent display for gun-sight accuracy. Or, for divers who prefer relative navigation, the ratchet bezel can be rotated easily even with thick neoprene gloves.

The luminous dial of the SWIV is designed with a half black / half luminous graphic to make quick work of compass direction, especially in dim light. The dial rests on a precision jeweled bearing and incorporates extremely strong magnets for super quick response and accuracy. While the SWIV module itself is very compact, the housing has a large vertical interior allowing viewing angles that would stop other compasses in their tracks. The compass 360 rotating bezel has compass headings in 30 numbered increments and indicator marks for every 10. Bezel has twin heading indicators for alignment of compass course, and a lubber line across the compass face.
