Questions & Answers

Kathleen T : is it compatible with pro plus 4?Mark B : I own a PP3 and the cable works fine for downloading dive information, once everything is set up correctly. The only difference in the PP4, that I know of, is the addition of bluetooth capability. Once the dive data is transferred to your computer using the oceanic software, it can be merged with other dive software programs to keep track of your dive history. Bear in mind that the DC only holds 24 dives in memory, and then will overwrite the first dives, so it is important to regularly download your dives. Bluetooth is great... when it works, that why I suggest the cable as a backup. I also wear a dive watch as a backup in case of a DC failure. Safety first!JOE S : This is not compatible with the Pro Plus 4. The PP4 uses bluetooth to sync up to logging software. It is most compatible and easiest to seamlessly sync with the Pelagic Diverlog+.
SCOTT B : Will the USB cord and QD hose on my PRO PLUS 2.1 work on a PRO PLUS 3?Mario C : yesJOE S : Yes. Both should work fine.
SCOTT B : Planning to up grade from my PRO PLUS 2.1 to a PRO PLUS 3, will the QD hose and USB cord on my PP2.1 work on the PP3?Mario C : yesJOE S : Yes both should work fine.
Ricky K : Does this cable work with an Oceanic F10 freediving computer?Mario C : Thank you for your question. The correct download cable for the oceanic F10 is on the link below. https://www.leisurepro.com/p-ocnpcusb3/oceanic-pc-cable-for-atom-geo-2-f10-dive-computers OCNPCUSB3
TONY W : Does this cable work with the Data mask HUB?BERNARD B : No. I tried forever to set up the download. Waste of time.JOE S : This cable will work with the DataMask.JONATHAN K : I've got this cable and use it with my VT 4.1. According to the Oceanic website, the Data mask list of accessories lists this cable as being compatible.

Loose USB connection

... and counterintuitive design on the Dive computer end. It took over 20 minutes of jiggling the connection around before the dives downloaded. Since the dive computer only stays in OC mode for 2 minutes before shutting down, the process was very aggravating. The stupid connection design to the dive computer falls off with the slightest tug. It's design is backwards...up seems down and down seems up.

Logs detailed dive computer data

Installation was not intuitive and an upside down installation is easy to to. I had to search online to find this is a typical problem. Once installed properly it worked as advertised.

expensive but they work

The cables work fine and it's very nice to see the dive profile with temperatures. HOWEVER, as with most cables for dive computers, why should they cost more than $10 or $15?? They do have one custom end, but still.

Does not attach securely

This is the only alternative for a link between the dive computer and a laptop computer, however it does not attach very securely. Disconnects frequently from the dive computer when using.

Required if you want to transfer your dive data

This should be included with the computer. Odd connection makes it somewhat difficult to make and maintain a connection. Once connected, it worked fine.

Horrible design, incredible price

Service is abysmal. The first tech I talked to kept muttering about Windows ME and XP. I told him for the fourth time that I use four different state-of-the-art Macs. He finally panicked and sent me to Pelagic. The support guy there kept asking if I was plugging it upside down. (in a well designed product, there is no upside down possibility but no, I was doing it correctly.)

good, but why not included in the packag

I bought this to download all the info easier and keep track of my dives. I really like the software and ability to add notes. While I don't like the price, I do like what I'm able to download, so I guess the price was worth it. I wish it had a "this is up" as I'm constantly hooking it up the wrong way. Not a big deal I can use some of my wife's nail polish to mark "this end up"

horrible design, and not worth the money

I'm not sure what the other reviewer did to bend one of the pins. If properly inserted, the pins simply rest on the contacts on the watch. And that's why it's a horrible interface. There's almost no way to secure the cable interface to the watch, as it just rests on the contacts. A little tug on the cable and you've lost connection. This simple cable should be included wtih ALL of American Underwater Products dive watches (Oceanic, Aeris, Hollis, etc).

Expensive but does the job

This little wire is really expensive but it works and I don't know any alternative. Being able to analyse your dives is very useful for many purposes. The Oceanic software that you have to download is mediocre and I'll probably end up using some other software to track my dives when I get around to finding a better one. Physically connecting the cable to the dive computer was not the most intuitive and any instructions would help this process (which after doing once is pretty easy). I have only uploaded data from the dive computer once and it took a couple of tries before it worked. I don't foresee any problems in the future. If you have an Oceanic computer and want to analyse your dives, I don't think you have any choice. The cable is good enough and I'm happy that I bought it.

Does what it is supposed to.

I like it. I can download the complete profile of the dive and use the program to record my log. I can graph depth, time to deco, temperature, etc. The interface is pretty good but I have also exported to excel to do custom graphs. It worked with windows 7 32bit but it didn't work with my windows 7 64bit. Could be user error but didn't know how to remedy.

Not worth the money...

I purchased this cable to link up my Oceanic VEO 250 dive computer to my desktop and/or laptops. Needless to say, the Oceanic software is NOT user friendly and the cable is poorly constructed. The pins on the cable to not make proper contact on the dive computer. The pins will bend very easily if the cable is not inserted correctly into the dive computer. Very flimsy design. Oceanic could have used either a mini USB connection or infrared. I would NOT recommend this Oceanic product to anyone. If you are in the market for a decent dive computer and willing to spend the money...I purchased a UWATEC Galileo Sol. Much better technology and computer link up with infrared.

Originally they had sent me an older version of the interface but what I explain to them what was required. They immediately took care of it to my complete satisfaction.

BUYERS BEWARE: Terrible design!

Terrible design, I was born with common sense but even this elluded me. I called the tech desk for this site and they walked me through. You'd never guess how the engineer designed this. You'd think he got his degree on line.Duh! And USB is meant to be plug and play-not just for the computer. After I attached it, one of the flimsy male connectors canted sideways and now I have to manuever it with a pinn before I can use it. This product is NOT worth buying.

Works well

It does what its supposed to. Its a simple USB cable, its very overpriced for what it does. The connections seem a little flimsy but I haven't used it long enough to know if they'll hold up to constant use. But, it gives my VEO 2.0 additional functionality, so its a must-have.

Easy to use - Make logging dives awesome

Super easy to use - just connect to the computers side port, plug in to the USB, and the computer already knows it's attached and goes into PC Mode. Then, depending on the software you're using, just download the data, and you're set!

Not as Friendly with Vista Operating Sys

My computer's serial number is 1001 - the first one? It worked ok with Windows XP, but my new laptop was loaded with Vista Business. The software required patches that still doesn't work right, so I use a different computer to load my dive logs. A minor inconvenience that I am sure they'll remedy. The tech department at Oceanic is VERY helpful and for that reason alone I'll stay with Oceanic. One note however, this item comes as a package with the VT-3 Computer, and I had to return the extra USB

Following download, your dive data is automatically formatted for easy viewing and analysis. Enter location, dive buddy and your comments or notes and you've created your own digital log book. Dive profiles are automatically rendered, allowing you to easily view and analyze your dive data.

The exquisitely detailed OceanLog graph includes depth and decompression status during a dive, maximum depth, bottom time, air consumption/air time remaining, no-decompression status, descent and ascent rate, ambient temperature, surface interval and all warnings.
