My Little Dive BUD

Great back up device... works well in the event you need another computer ... I won't miss any dives because my battery went dead with this little gizmo!!

Peace of Mind

No one wants to lose a day of diving if their primary computer fails. Easy to use and love the extra peace of mind.

..good back up..

..we are pretty happy with these ..for what they are..as others have said you can buy a cheap Nitrox computer as backup for about the same money..these are small, and clip nicely to the BC. Also, they hold only 12 dives... so, if you dont time out surface interval..it will keep going untill you go back to dive one..so rather than saying dive 13 or 15 it starts over..this happens to me on dive trips..

Should be renamed D.U.D.

It is a poorly crafted "throwaway" device. It sucks battery power quickly requiring you to carry a spare battery. There is no dive memory other than the last one! This computer should be selling for 1/4 its current asking price to better reflect what you get in exchange. For $5 more you can purchase a much better computer from several other vendors.

Good little backup

I bought this because my very old Oceanic console computer flooded after many years of use. I did some carving on the console and fit this into my console. My primary computer is a wrist mounted Oceanic Geo, which I love. This is a great backup, but it will not log your dives, so it is somewhat limited. I am a fan of Oceanic computers.

Why?

I think Mares Puck will do better job for less money and more functions! So my question is: Why would anyone want to have this thing?

The name says it all and it works great!

Bought this last year for a back up and have used it on several dives. Just clip it on and basically forget about it. Works exactly as advertised and easy to set up. Also came with the free computer class (which really wasn't needed). If you're thinking about it, go ahead and get one.

NICE PRODUCT, IF YOU USE IT AS BACKUP...

GOOD COMPUTER, BUT IT IS A BACKUP DO NOT INTEND TO USE AS MAIN, IF SO TAKE YOUR DIVING WATCH FOR YOUR TIMING...

Reliable Redundancy

I travel for liveaboard diving to some pretty remote destinations so having a reliable back-up computer that has my profiles to date should my primary fail reduces stress.

good backup easy to use

..we bought two of these one failed right away, bad battery rusted & corroded . Other worked fine..old stock from LeisurePro??. I like these for a back up only & well priced. as we have had computers fail during a dive this is a good idea. We used to carry an old computer in a pocket but this is better. now wait & see what Oceanic will do about the broken one!!!

Does the bare minimum

As an Instructor I don't always really need a computer, so I gave up my dedicated computer for my wife to use and decided to start beta testing an iphone based dive computer (scuba capsule). Anyway, I didn't want to lose a day of diving in the event of an issue with that solution so I opted for the BUD. It's similar to the other Oceanics I've used and with a nice easy to read display. I'm less than impressed with the "log" feature, you can only go back to your most recent dive, no ability to scroll through previous dives. It also has a tendancy to lose FO2 setting when diving EAN, so you must remember to set it just before entering the water, which is major pain since this is designed as a backup. It would be nice if you could set it once and forget it. Still, overall for the price I'd buy it again since it serves it's purpose and I like having the piece of mind that if I have problems with my phone, my BUD's got my back.

Great Design

This has saved me and my buddies many times when a computer dies on a dive. It is really easy to pass off, and it has both common algorithms so it can be used by almost anyone who has a recreational computer. Perfect device for the "Clip it and forget it" mentality, you won't even notice its there until you (or a buddy) needs it!
