Great hood

I use this hood for coastal kayaking on the Great Lakes during winter. I’m 6’ 2”, 210 lbs (sorry, don’t know head/hat size). I purchased an XX-large hood. It’s easily put on. I don’t feel claustrophobic in it. It does have a generous neck which is fine with me. I can easily hear when wearing it. I’ve used it so far in 26-32° weather and never felt cold. It does wear down on your jaw and lips a bit, from the compression, so talking a lot may tire your lower face a bit. I was totally dry, warm, and comfortable wearing it in a freezing rain on Lake Michigan. I can’t comment on it for scuba diving but I do recommend it for cold weather kayaking. I’m glad I purchased it. Good investment.

Open Water Swimming

Purchased for open water lake swimming (48-55 degree water temp) due to pandemic pool closures. Worked well to expose minimal face area in cold water. Flexible, comfortable, warm, and fits under wetsuit collar with no leaking or rubbing issues. I uded the hood until the water temp started exceeding 55 degrees - it became a bit too warm. If I purchase again, I might go for the thinner size.

Best hood purchase so far

I have two of these in case I lose one, it's a great hood. I have very long hair and also get cold even in warm water. This hood is perfect for both of those things: keeps my hair out of my face, out of my mask and under my skin and/or suit in addition to keeping my head warm. Love this! I'm 5'7, thin, I have both a small and a medium of this hood.

The best money can buy...!!!!! I still have my first diving suit a 3 mm Hyper stretch and I buy it in 2007 ..Now I went for the 5mm...and I love it...just perfect. I got the hoodie 5/3 and love it to . I’m waiting for the boots!!!

X-Span, some sizing issues

I purchased this hood to go with my X-Span Jacket. When I place my phone order I told them my head size was large and my neck was medium. He replied, we just go by the head size. Well it arrived today and fits my head but is loose around my neck. Not sure why their website has a chart for head and neck.

NeoSport's XSPAN 3/2mm Vented Bib Hood, can allow your diving to be more enjoyable. Smart anatomical design pays big dividends in comfort with this multi-thickness hood. The thinner, oversized bib is made to tuck easily into wetsuits forming additional layering for a good seal and an overall anatomical shape that helps eliminate sags and air pockets.

The face seal can be trimmed to precisely match unique facial contours while an integrated vent allows bubbles to escape through the top of the hood preventing ballooning without promoting water exchange. All seams are glued and stitched for durability and to limit water exchange. The hood body is made from XSPAN nylon 2 neoprene 3mm material with the bib being 2mm.
