Perfect for kayak, car and skating

I love the Wedge throw bag because it stuffs into so many small places that I always have one with me. If fits in my play boat, under the back seat of my car (since we are always driving along the river), and in my pocket of my puffy jacket when I am ice skating. Its smaller size is great for teaching kids to throw it as well. I use a larger bag for river running and creeking.

safety is good

I added a caribeener to my pfd and have it hanging on my left. Once in awhile it slides under my arm but does impede my paddling.

Good Throw Bag

I bought this for a recent kayaking trip to Canada. Canadian Coast Guard requires that all vessels carry a rescue throw line and this small, lightweight item filled the bill.

The right size

The Wedge throw bag is a great fit for a whitewater boat or personal carry, my 75' throw bag takes up so much space where as this smaller bag fits easily behind the back band and you don't have to wrestle it out of its storage space which I think is a real safety feature in is own right. Even though it is small with 55' feet of line it is an appropriate size for many rivers, and most kayakers I know are capable of throwing it far enough to use all of it's 55' of range, not the case with the larger heavier 75' lines which many are incapable of throwing it far enough to reach its maximum distance should it be required. A great product in a good size at a reasonable price. I liked it so much I purchased another for my paddling partner, because it will not be my throw bag that rescues me, but it could be hers.

Better Fit

I bought this to replace my larger 75' throw bag, which takes up too much space and is longer than I need for the rivers we paddle. This is so much smaller and lighter that it fits in my boat and is small enough to stuff into my pfd, so therefore it is easier to pack in the boat and I am more inclined to carry it with me.

Worked well

Had to use for a rescue on the Current river. Worked well but we still can't get it back into the bag. I want to be sure it will deploy properly and not tangle. Any suggestions?

Good things can come in small packages. The NRS Wedge Throw Bag is compact, so it fits in any space in your boat - no excuses for not carrying it. Always there for that vital rescue toss. The NRS Wedge Throw Bag contains 55' (16.76m) of floating 0.25" (6.35mm) polypropylene gives you the reach you need to pluck that swimmer out of the water. Compact, flattened shape slides easily inside your boat. Foam panels inside the bag keep it afloat for safety and visibility. Mesh sides on the bag give drainage and quick drying for the rope. Bright colors and reflective tape make the bag highly visible for the rescuer and rescuee. The rope has 950 lbs. (431 kg) tensile strength. Note: Rope knots reduce tensile strength.
