It is as nice looking here as it is on the webpage. I purchased it to be used as an emergency ice pond/lake rescue rope. We have a lot of ice fishing and snowmobiling here in central Wisconsin, so I keep it in my vehicle for use in emergencies. So far, I haven't had to use it. and hope I never have to. It gives peace of mind just having it available if needed. Like a medical kit everyone near water should have one. I am surprised that I do not see these marketed to the ice fishing and snowmobiling market here in the northern states! These need to be in every ice fishing shack and on snowmobiles. We cross a lot of ice with snowmobiles in Wisconsin and Minnesota, not all of it safe.

I prefer most of the components to my rafting system to be multi-purpose and an efficient use of space. I decided to buy the Pro version of the NRS throw bag for the strength rating of the cordage inside. Who knows what you will be able to grab from your boat if it is pinned to a rock, so making my throw bag usable as a z-drag line, in addition to my rescue kit, seems like a great back up system.

Overall, the bag is the usual quality stuff that we've come to expect from NRS. Unfortunately, the cinch cord broke on the second weekend that I used the bag, and the stitching on the end of the strap unraveled. These are minor concerns that were easily repaired. The bag is otherwise in good condition, and I will continue to use it.

Purchased for ice fishing. Previously carried one that has 1/4" x 50' line. The added length and diameter of the line along with the grip ability feature was my reason for the purchase. Next season will practice throwing the bag. Its an item I hope never to use!

I bought this because one rescued me last year on the Rogue. The man with it threw one of the most epic throws in rafting history and nailed me in the chest at 75 feet. It *might* have been him, but just in case, we bought one for us. In practice, it makes me almost as good as him.

Great for raft trips. Might be a little big on a kayak.

The NRS NFPA Rope Rescue Throw Bag is the ideal choice for the rescue professional or any boater looking for a bag with extra strong rope that's easy to grasp and hold onto. The throw bag is made from Rugged Cordura and is highly visible for easy location on the water. Wide mesh panel in the bag facilitates drainage and reduced dry time. Two reflective bands and an elastic "holster" for a glow stick, or "chemical light", enhance visibility in low light rescues. A barrel lock drawstring is incorporated in a flared nylon top for smoother throws, plus easy reloading and closure.
1" (25mm) webbing with squeeze-style" side-release buckle secures the top rope loop and lets you attach the bag to D-rings, boat frames, etc. Internal foam flotation keeps the bag on the top of the water where you need it for rescue. Polyethylene sheathed grab loop makes it super quick and easy to hook on a carabiner clip. The bag is bright orange with a high visibility floating yellow/red weave grab line by sterling which measure 75' (23m) and is 3/8" (9.5mm) in diameter. The lines maximum load is 3,282 lbs (1,489kg). The Throw Bag Line is NFPA 1983, 2012-Certified.
