I have replaced it three times over a total of about 15 years, using it for raft, kayak, and SUP tours. While it's not suitable for use as part of a Z-drag system, there's no easier-to-throw throw bag for the simple purpose of rescuing a swimmer. I especially recommend it for women who may not have a lot of strength. Normally, I store it in a waist bag, so the risk of the rope being released and getting caught on something in the river while I'm swimming is extremely low.

Makes rescue throws much quicker than having to unclip a bag from a thwart. When it comes to safety seconds matter and this product shaves seconds off the time it takes to get hands on your rope. Great product for whitewater professionals

It is nice because when I save kittens their claws can hold on to the rope easily!

Everything is great and sleek. Except for two things that I find to be an issue with any of NRS throw ropes/bags. 1. The straps on anything are way too long. After adjusting straps, the tail of the straps are always over a foot long. The only fix is cutting them and re-sewing/burning the ends. 2. These throw bags have way too many loops that are too large. I have massive hands and I can fit my fist through any loop which is a serious concern for entrapment and quick releasing. I HIGHLY advise untying all the knots and making them smaller and removing the end of the pull cord and making stopper knots in the two ends of the cord. NRS makes fantastic products. I only wish they would step up their safety standards on their products.

Conveniently worn around your waist, the Guardian Waist Throw Bag is always at your fingertips, whether you're in your boat or scouting a rapid. A waist bag with quick-release belt holds a compact, removable nylon throw bag. The outer bag has a wide hook-and-loop flap and a zipper to facilitate removing the inner bag. Drainage holes in the bag expel water quickly. Removable Wedge Throw Bag has foam flotation to keep it on top of the water, mesh sides for drainage and drying, and reflective taping for increased visibility. Throw bag contains 55' (16.76 meters) of 1/4" (64mm) polypropylene rope, with a maximum tensile strength of 950lbs (431kg). A quick-release buckle on the adjustable waist belt ensures safe exit in an emergency. The internal throw bag comes completely free from the waist belt. Webbing loops along the belt allow you to attach carabiners clips.
