The Hydrostatic Inflator Technology (HIT) is a feature that ensures the vest inflates only when submerged in water of 4 inches or more. This prevents accidental inflation due to rain, spray, or high humidity, providing an added layer of security.
TC Marine approval means that the vest has been tested and meets the standards of the Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security (TCMSS). The Mustang Survival EP 38 Vest has a Type V with Type II Performance approval, indicating it's designed for active use and can provide a high level of safety.
The vest features internal storage compartments for various sailing essentials like IAS, PLBs, strobes, and other electronics. It also includes a zipper pocket for easy-access storage.
The vest includes a back-mounted, storable spray hood, marine-grade retro-reflective materials, an integrated sailing harness with a soft tie-in and lifting loop, a removable crotch strap, and a marine-grade whistle. It also comes with a detailed owner's manual for easy reference.
The squeeze-style side release buckles are designed for user-friendly, quick donning and doffing of the vest. This feature allows for swift and easy adjustment of the vest, enhancing its usability and convenience.

Having to pull over your head can be a little clumsy in tight quarters but a solid product.

Just got back from the Caribbean and I was very happy. I found it to be way more comfortable than the older traditional style. It will definitely be coming on your next delivery from South Africa to Brazil.

I just did my hands on Offshore Safety at Sea training and the vest worked great. Lots of flotation and help me in a good position. I was most impressed with how easy it was to rearm and pack. Makes annual inspection a lot less daunting when it goes back together that easily!

Clearly not intended for freshwater boating or musky fishing, but when I was getting my new boat I wanted one of Mustang's hydrostatic PFDs, just in case something were to go wrong out on the water. I had it down to this one or the elite 28, as I don't like the bulk/fit of the regular HIT PFDs, and thought this would keep that extra weight/bulk off of the back of my neck (the regular HIT PFDs are more comfortable just sitting/riding around in the boat, but when casting and doing figure 8's for a ten hour tournament, it get's old quick and is taken off pretty much as soon as we stop the motor). The elite was sold out, so that made my decision easy and I bought two EP38's right away, and have used them nearly every weekend since, and I am very pleased with my decision and purchase. I'm a big guy (6'5" 285 lbs) and it fits me and my 5'4 wife well. I really appreciate the slim fit/lack of bulk, and feel better being comfortable enough to keep it on throughout the day. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Love my EP38. Even over my Meris gear with layers beneath, the EP38 was there and out of the way. The low profile design moved with me as part of my sailing system. While I moved around the boat, even in tighter space situations, the low profile design stayed out of the way. Exactly what you want when moving like a Mustang aboard.

I love this PFD! Its low profile and reminds me of wearing a plate carrier. Makes it easy to move around because its out of the way. Very minimal limitations on range of motion. The hole for your head is a bit tight and i wish there was a beacon and knife attachment panel near the shoulder straps. It wad a lot more expensive than other models, but would buy again. Someone mentioned the cool factor. I have had people comment on it and some people think im wearing a plate carrier (which Mustang makes with a PDF).

Great comfort, easy to use and liberty of movement. Note that the hole for the head is a tight fit but once on it's perfect. It probably floats haven't tried that part yet.

I love this vest. It's so sleek and spread out so the weight is even and I can work all the lines and grind without my PFD getting in the way. It's offshore race-ready when I need it. Plus, it looks pretty badass!

Introducing the Mustang Survival EP 38 Inflatable Ocean Racing Vest, a trailblazing gear tailored for the discerning ocean racer. Constructed on a ground-breaking low-profile chassis, this vest blends feather-like weight with increased flexibility, courtesy of its internal Membrane Inflatable Technology.
Designed for optimal movement during high-intensity sailing activities like grinding and sail changes, the vest incorporates Hydrostatic Inflator Technology (HIT). This ensures that it inflates only when submerged in 4" (10.2 cm) or more water, not in rain, spray, or high humidity. This technology adds an extra layer of protection against unwanted inflation while ensuring safety when you need it most.
The EP 38 vest meshes perfectly with the EP 6.5 Ocean Racing outerwear collection, creating a comprehensive sailing ensemble built to provide an unmatched performance edge in even the toughest conditions.
Boasting TC Marine - TP 14475 - Inflatable PFDs - Type V with Type II Performance approval, the vest is lightweight and designed for active use. It includes a back-mounted, storable spray hood, marine-grade retro-reflective materials, and an integrated sailing harness with a soft tie-in and lifting loop.
With internal storage compartments for IAS, PLBs, strobes, and other electronics, the vest also features a removable crotch strap and a marine-grade whistle. Its user-friendly, squeeze-style side release buckles allow swift donning and doffing. Designed for universal fit, it accommodates chest sizes from 30" to 52" (76 cm to 132 cm), and is suitable for users weighing 80 lbs. (36 kg) and over. For harness use, the minimum weight requirement is 110 lbs. (50 kg). The vest includes a zipper pocket for accessible storage, an easy-to-use oral inflator, and comes with a detailed owner's manual.
