I have used this snorkel for over two years and it has been flawless. It is a great fit and mouthpiece for me is very comfortable. Super easy to clear. Build quality is superb. I would solidly recommend this snorkel.

Best snorkel I’ve ever used. As soon as the top dips under a wave or otherwise under water, it closes and you don’t get any water in the snorkel.

I have had experience with other more older school snorkels and this one is definitely great for keeping water out and easy to breath with. The only thing I don't like is the mounting clip. The clip is a little difficult to deal with when mounting to the mask strap.

It keeps the water out but also air. I do not like it. One has to exhale first before getting air or it is closed and can not get air. DH likes it fine but I do not.

I purchased this snorkel for use while I was in the Galapagos islands. I am not very experienced at snorkeling especially in the ocean and this dry snorkel made the experience great! It was really nice to have a snorkel that remained clear of water during diving and in choppy water. I would recommend this product to anybody who wants to enjoy a couple hours a day of snorkeling on vacation etc..

Really liked the build quality but I have noticed on occasion while picking scallops in the gulf, the valve at the top will stick closed. Not a huge annoyance for me but it could present a small problem for the less experienced

Compared this Mares snorkel with 3 other brands recently in an effort to get the best snorkel I could for under $35.00. Although I did not test this snorkel in water, it appears the snorkel is well constructed, has a comfortable mouthpiece, a large breathing tube, and a very sleek overall design. However, I also felt there could be 2 potential problems. 1st--the snorkel to mask plastic attachment piece was cumbersome to use and, in my opinion, could be prone to breakage if the snorkel were to be attached and detached to the mask regularly. 2nd--the top dry valve seemed as though it wanted to stick shut every now and then. Maybe it was just the particular snorkel I had, but I could see a serious panic problem develop if an inexperienced person was out in open water and the top valve started sticking. Thought the other snorkel's I compared had better designed top valves which opened and closed easier than the valve on this Mares model. Bottom line: I am big on Mares products (90% of my dive gear is Mares) and while I would not be afraid to own and/or use this snorkel, in my honest opinion, there are better snorkel's out there for the money. Sorry Mares - 3.5 to 4 stars TOPS on this one. Safe diving to all!!

I bought this snorkel and it worked great until the float mechanism broke off. The plastic at the top is cheap and unreliable.

BE VERY CAREFUL when you use this product - blocked airflow more or less constant and unpredictable. Can be dangerous in rough seas with less experienced divers/snorkelers. I would NOT recommend this to anybody. In rough seas it was a real hindrance. Even in flat calm seas it was annoying. Very disappointed in Mares, which normally has good equipment.

Pros - Solidly built plastic. - Bottom purge valve works well - Comfortable mouth piece. Cons - The snorkel clip is a bad design. Doesn't release easily and mine broke within three dives. - The desert dry valve sticks shut occasionally, requiring pliers to fix. When it jams shut, you can't suck any air in. I'd classify that as a safety issue. Bottom line: I managed to fenagle my desert dry valve to open and close freely, and am happy with it now. But after the problems I've had with it, I wouldn't buy it again. It's a shame...usually Mares makes quality stuff; the overall build quality is good, but the dry-valve design is horrible.

It's nice when the valve doesn't stick closed, you surface and can't inhale. Can sometimes unstuck valve by covering purge valve and blowing. Also the clip for the mask band is a pain to use. It doesn't want to go on because the band is doubled for adjustments.

works well,and does what it is intended to do, keep water out. I'm a very tough evaluator, the only negative is the yellow color, looks like brown mustard, so mine is not perfect.

I bought this snorkel for my son who is new to snorkeling. He has a tendency to lift his head when snorkeling, which dips the top of the snorkel in the water and puts him at risk of getting a big mouthful of water. This snorkel design prevents him from taking in a breath when his head is tipped back like that, so he can't inhale water. It also has the most comfortable snorkel mouthpiece I've ever tried. This is the best snorkel I've ever tried out, and I've been snorkeling/diving for 22 years.

This snorkle worked great for what I want -- a really good snorkle that clears and avoids clogging, but stays out of the way while diving. It was relatively cheap and is better than my last one that had a rigid bottom to it.

Coming up from depth on a free dive (approx 15-20 feet), the snorkel remains relatively clear.
