Paul M : Wanting a backup strap for a Mares Tana (SKU MRSMT) which uses a 5/8" (16mm) strap. One answered question states this is a 5/8" wide strap, but the photo makes it appear to be rather short. Original strap measures ~22 1/2" tip-tip and I find I need pretty much all of that for my head size. Will this one work, or is there a better choice?Mario C : 22 inches tip to tip

Better than original strap

I bought this as a "save a dive" item in the event my Mares Tana mask strap broke. It's noticeably a bit better quality and design than the original strap on the Tana as it's made for use on pricier mask models from Mares. The strap length and width are 100% compatible with my Mares Tana. I've not had the need to use it yet though, but if and when I do, I'll be well covered.

Better than original strap

I bought this as a "save a dive" item in the event my Mares Tana mask strap broke. It's noticeably a bit better quality and design than the original strap on the Tana as it's made for use on pricier mask models from Mares. The strap length and width are 100% compatible with my Mares Tana. I've not had the need to use it yet though, but if and when I do, I'll be well covered.

You are fully suited up and are ready to make a giant stride entry off the back of the boat in "Saint Somewhere". As you put your mask on to start your dive your mask strap breaks! Don't ruin a vacation because you don't have extra mask strap in your Save-A-Dive Kit.

There are several items that are essential when putting together a Save-A-Dive Kit, Cylinder Valve O-rings, Fin Straps, Buckles, etc. One of the most important items is the spare Mask Strap. Be sure to have spare mask strap for your Mares Mask in your Save-A-Dive-Kit. Adjustable rubber straps in black or clear silicone rubber. Come standard with all Mares X-Vision and Liquidskin Masks (see SKU's: MRSMXM, MRSMXV14 and MRSMXV).
