Cayla C : Hi I am female, 5'7" and 137lbs with about a 36 bust, 36 waist. Would I get a XXS/S or a M/L for the size?? I went and tried on a mares" journey" bcd and I was a small size. Any suggestions please?MOHAMMED A : i think small size is fine .....DAVID T P : According to the size chart, I needed a MD/LG in height but a XL in weight and waist. I ordered a XL. It has plenty of room for "growth" but still fits comfortably now although a bit large. I think the small size would fit you fine. Remember that Leisure Pro does have the fantastic PFF Guaranty.ALAN L : I'm a male. 5ft 10 in . 158 lbs and the m/L is adjusted almost as small as I can get it. So I would suggest small for you. I love the bcd. Favorite so far.Aline A : Hello, I would suggest you get the xxs/s because it is a variable size bcd, you can custom fit it to your size by changing the position of the straps in the back plate. I purchased one M/L for myself and another XXS/S for my sister, she is roughly your size and they are great. Now to answer your question, I am not really sure if you are asking to buy a replacement weight or are you buying another BCD?DAVID T P : If you're asking whether they are left/right specific, it has been my experience that they are inter-changeable. Eric V : I am 5'7" tall and weigh 165 lbs. Would this bc in a size small fit me correctly?JASON B : I don't know - I bought the XL and 5'11 and 210. Hybrid pro tec

It is a great fitting/ feeling bcd( its also my first owned bcd) as I was tired of wearing rented BCDS. If your used to wearing jacket style bcd's, this back inflated will take some getting used to. Lift capacity is tremendous, it does try to push you forward on the surface. it tends to ride up my torso a little bit when the air cell is inflated, might just be the fit but no problems under water. It is a great bcd, although I have not worn any other back inflate style bcd's

What a Gift

This was a Christmas gift from my brother. I was using a Zeagle Scout and loved all of its abilities. However as I advanced in my training and diving education I needed more features. This was a gift that I was not expecting! My first dive I dropped a weight pocket but luckily it was recoverd with in a few minutes. After that I have made sure to install the weights prior to donning the BC insuring to hear a positive click. That's the only complaint I have had. I have had zero issues with the profromance or the quaility of the BC. My first dive with it I dove with a Farmer John and Jacket with 14mm of neoprene. Water temp was 47° air temp was 23°. I carried 26 lbs of lead and I was so excited to dive I forgot to double check my new set up. The weight pocket slipped about 30mins into the dive. My mistake not the brand at all. My next dives were in a very cold cave with water temps at 37° and air temps at 15°. Still in 14 mm of neoprene and absolutely no problems what so ever!! I really like the fact that this is so adaptable to all of diving I do and plan on doing. The pockets are removable and you can make it as simple as a BPW in no time. The foldable backplate with the suspension system is fantastic, it keeps the center of gravity low and allows it to feel comfertable and secure while making shore entries. There are so many attachment points its overwhelming when coming from a travel BC. This is an outstanding product and never mind the naysayers, just take care when you insert the weight pockets. That's it.

This MARES Hybrid Pro Tec is Awesome !

As a Dive Master I like using back inflation BCD's do to they provide a lot more movement however they can sometimes be hard to control but I use them all the time when I came time to replace my Back Inflated BCD I was having trouble to find the one I had and I had a friend that told me that I should try the Hybrid Pro Tec I told him NO but after not finding the BC I was looking for I took a chance and got me one let me tell you Best BCD I ever owned.

Quite pleased

Things I wish had been listed (mostly pleasant surprises): The overall weight is 4.5kg. The removable vest is 1.5kg, leaving you with a 3kg (6.6 lbs) harness / bp / air cell. Folding the BC doesn't work very well with the removable jacket attached. In addition to the two 6kg capacity MRS pouches, there are also two 3kg capacity trim pouches on the removable jacket. The total weight capacity is 18kg, not 12kg. 12kg is the 'dumpable' weight. The air cell uses a shock cord to reduce drag when deflated, but this makes it difficult to fully inflate orally. If inflating without a power inflator, the maximum lift is closer to 200N (20kg/45lbs) for me without stressing myself. The bungee for the air cell is a single piece. I had to adjust it slightly in order to balance the inflation as the left side was significantly tighter than the right. This was simple to do, but I would recommend checking it by slowly inflating and deflating a few times before the first time you use it. The air cell is a doughnut (not a horseshoe), so you can dump air evenly when inverted by using the lower dump valve. The air cell can be detached from the harness, but the clips used to secure it are not made for frequent use. Removing the cell can make the whole significantly easier to pack. Removing the removable vest requires removing four pins (easy) and un-threading four straps (also easy). The plastic pins feel insubstantial and insecure, but I have yet to experience issues with their durability or function. The harness is attached to the backplate in a couple of places with similar but more substantial pins. I have added a couple of 1" and 2" stainless clevis pins that are comparable in size to my dive box, just in case.

The Mares Hybrid Pro Tec is a giant step in the evolution of back mounted BCDs. The first thing you will notice when donning Hybrid Pro Tec is the perfect fit. This new level of comfort is achieved via special shoulder pads which are longer, pre-shaped and reinforced, and which work in perfect unison with the lumbar suspension system. This suspension system is inspired by the design of modern hiking backpacks; the system avoids direct contact between the body and the tank support. Hybrid Pro Tec features 10 stainless steel D-rings, 3 of which can be slid up and down along the shoulder pads, to accommodate any configuration needs. Made of very tough Alutex material, it will endure any exposure you submit it to and hold up to the test of time.

Furthermore, Hybrid Pro Tec is a modular BCD: the detachable vest comprising the MRS plus system is removable, leaving a lean-and-mean travel BCD. The Hybrid Pro Tec maximizes the blend of comfort, lightness and size. Thanks to the grip provided by the rubber in contact with the tank, when open it ensures total stability and comfort of a long backpack, but when folded it's 30% shorter than a traditional backpack. The honeycomb structure makes it 40% lighter than a traditional backpack. BCD comes standard with 3 Pull-Dump/Overpressure Relief Valves, one is incorporated into the top of the Ergo Inflator; another is located on the right shoulder and a third is located on the rear lower right. Activation of the valves are made easy with both the upper and lower right valves coming with pull cords and the valve incorporated into the Ergo Inflator is activated by an internal cable attached to the inflator mechanism.

The Hybrid Pro Tec BCD has an adjustable sternum strap with quick-release buckle. A Nylon Webbing Cylinder Strap with durable non corrosive Cam Buckle secures your cylinder to the BCD. This back mount BCD is made of 1,000-Cordura, 420-Cordura and 3D Alutex protection and abrasion-resistant mesh. BCD comes in 4 sizes from X-Small to X-Large with 55 lbs (25 kg) of lift. The Hybrid Pro Tec weighs 9.6 lbs (4.4 kg), comes with a LP hose, Comprehensive Owner's Manual and a 24 month limited warranty.
