These will fit most fins with a round nub to attach the quick release buckle.PAUL H : No, I have the same fins and this will not work. You need a simple rubber strap assembly without any plastic buckles.Scott B : I also had old ones from 1990 but no issues removing old straps and replacing with the new straps. Fortunately, Mares didn't change the design of a key area on the fins. Hope that helps...

awful...

Awful, just awful. I've got two pairs of Mares fins - I'm not a Mares hater - but these things are the worst. The concept is that you pinch the small gray quick release style 'button' like features at the end of the buckle and then the buckle hinges open to give you enough room to get out (or in) without altering the tension that you've set for the flexible strap. First of all, the spring pressure that you have to overcome to get the QR function to work is going to be too much (too stiff) for many divers. Secondly, imagine that you are in the water, end of dive, you are transitioning from water to boat and you want to remove the fins - in the water - and hand them up to a crew member before you climb out of the water. You have to locate the buttons without looking at them, hard enough to do with no gloves, really hard to do with gloves. Do yourself a favor, get some springs or bungees. LP has them at good prices. Better still - if you are a recreational warm water diver - spend your money on a pair of Lycra (not polypropylene) fin socks and a pair of Mares Avanti Super-Channel Full Foot Fins. You can find that fin and other very good 'full foot' fins at good prices here on Leisurepro.

Very good strap

If your foot is sensitive to the pressure of the spring or bungee straps this is a great solution. My wife is recovering from a broken foot so needed a strap that would be secure yet not keep pressure on her foot. These are easy to adjust and easy to get in and out of.

You are fully suited up and are ready to make a giant stride entry off the back of the boat in "Saint Somewhere". As you put your fins on to start your dive your fin strap or buckle breaks! Don't ruin a vacation because you don't have extra fin straps in your save-a-dive-kit. There are several items that are essential when putting together a save-a-dive-kit. Cylinder valve O-rings, mask straps, buckles etc., one of the most important items is the spare fin strap. Don't let a bad fin strap be the causes of an aborted dive, always carry a spare.

Mares has designed the ABS Plus buckle to improve the release system by increasing the fastening safety. If pressure is applied from only one side, the buckle will not release, or will release only with great difficulty. Both buttons must be pressed at the same time to open the buckle. This new system also makes it easier to use, by reducing the effort required for both opening and closing of the buckle. ABS Plus Buckles is a single strap with two buckles.
