Questions & Answers

ERIC S : Is the price per fin?William P : Pair
Shopper : if I'm a size 9 shoe, will the 8.5/9.5 be good?YAN G : The only way to know would be to try them on. Mares fins do run a little big. You might need to wear a sock with them.
ARIAN R : In a rate of 1 to 10, if you compare this one to the Omer Stingray, how much would you give to each one, been 10 the best?MICHAEL C : The Mares Razor Carbon fins will be lighter stronger and have more snap in the kick than the Omer Stingray fins, which would be heavier and stiffer..
Justin C : how long are this fins?B C : 34.5 inches long
Shopper : what is the stiffness?Monica s : Its not very stiff, I would say inbetween but with the carbon material you get very good reaction from the blade so performance wise it acts like a stiff blade but really an easy kick.

Pocket runs big

Haven't used them yet, buddy has them and loves them. What I can say is I wear a 10-10.5 in everything and the pockets are huge. Fair warning for anyone looking to buy them. Similar review seen on amazon and I risked it because you can't get the 8-9.5 size, bad choice.... If you wear a 10, don't order the 10-11, it won't fit.

Functionally good, quality for price bad

I use these for scuba diving. The fin is light and will move you through the water very efficiently. Would be better if a little stiffer. Cosmetically, easy to scratch up, and the forks holding the fin blade on either side started shredding and then falling off after only 6 months (20 dives). Functionally a great fin, but for the price the quality is a no go.

Excellent

Used them on freediving and spearfishing sessions (up to four hours). Never overloaded my legs, never had cramps in my calf nor feet muscles. They are very smooth and essentially dictate you the most optimal strength/frequency of the strokes. They definitely minimize the amount of burned oxygen in comparison with other blade material. The footpocket is very deep and wide to accommodate even deformed feet. It is almost as good as a C4 footpocket with laces that is the best on the market. If you have a narrow and/or flat feet - a neoprene sock is a must. But it is almost always a must anyway! I have used a lot of different fins - rubber, plastic, fiberglass, carbon... These and C4 Mustangs are my favorites. I caught these on sale which was a tremendous deal. They seem to be pretty durable. I routinely push off the rocks and there is practically no damage on the blades. Recommended! Especially for people with high instep and wide feet.

Perfect

Technically I'm a "professional" because I worked as a PADI Divemaster 12 years ago, but everything I do these days is for my own enjoyment. I've been freediving for most of my life. Carbon fiber fins are drastically better than plastic or rubber fins. I should have made the switch years ago. For scuba diving I still use and prefer Apollo split fins but for freediving, carbon fiber fins are substantially better. For example with my split fins and even Cressi Gara 3000 fins I would typically only go down 30 to 40 feet for abalone or spear fishing. I'm a decent freediver but going deeper than that always felt like too much work. I hate feeling out of breath when surfacing. Now I can cruse down to 50-60 feet, hangout on the bottom, and still surface comfortably. I would have gone down further to test my capabilities but I couldn't find anywhere deeper in the bay I was swimming in. I didn't realize how much energy I had been previously wasting trying to fight my way up and down. I'm not even using good fining technique. If I practiced with these fins I'm confident I could easily go down to 70, 80 or possibly even 100 feet. I wish I would have purchased these fins 15 years ago.

The fruit of many years of experience and research in the field of composite fins, the Razor Carbon is the result of the latest innovations in technology. The Razor is different from traditional manufacturing techniques in that it is autoclaved. This procedure used in the Razor Carbon allows full control over the blade manufacturing process and allows consistent quality for absolute reliability.

The special design of the blade, with the lateral stringers on the foot pocket, and the over-molded reinforcements are incredibly efficient at channeling the flow of water. The ample 22° angle of the blade to the foot pocket allows the fin to become a natural extension of the leg, making fining easier.

The extreme lightness of the fin and the proportions of the blade increase efficiency and allow an almost effortless fining. Razor Carbon can be used in so many ways and its exceptional yield, both on the surface and at depth, will satisfy the most demanding free divers and spear fishermen. Fin measures 34.6" (880 mm) in size 7.5/8 and weighs 1.9 lbs. (883 g). Fin is available in multiple sizes.
