Very good fins for diving and good for free diving. They are a little heavy for free diving but if you are looking for tough fins for both activities, these are a good option.

i like these a lot. i bought a smaller size than i would for shoes and they fit great. i had a little bit of chafing on my heel but doesnt lessen my enthusiasm. ill probably wear some thin socks moving forward.

These fins are so powerful, so much faster, truly amazing. Fab freediving fins, long, but not as long as full freediving fins. A bit heavy for travel, but they're so good underwater I take them anyway.

Still my favorite fin after 30 year of professional diving. I have beaten them up plenty of abuse but they seem to still work great. I am purchasing my fourth pair. The last pair had an issue but i am still comfortable to buy these fins again. These were 3-4 year old/200 dive fins, left on the deck on a very hot Bahamian day. The bottom sole concave and now cramps my foot. I haven’t tried but maybe Mares/LP would warranty them??? These fins may not be the best for a weak swimmer. Lots of thrust and I recommend them for medium to strong swimmers. I use them with a XL camera and sometimes items clipped to my D-ring harness.

These fins are perfect for the diver who wants power to navigate currents and long and/or quick swims. They were also quite easy to do all types of frog kicks with. They are a bit heavy but quite versatile.

Started diving back in the late 70's . Had been using Mares products for a long time, This is my fourth pair of fins from Mares. Just out grow them, the Mares Avanti work very well for me. The Avanti Quattro take very little effort to kicks. But gave me power as needed

bought these full footies for Palau liveaboard trip. was the only diver as powerful as the divemasters, with their long/stiff free diver fins, in ripping currents. very efficient power transfer from foot to blade. comfortable foot pocket & heel. excellent fin. first pair of full-foot fins since 70s. glad I waited for these.

I bought these for underwater hockey, and couldn't be more pleased. They accelerate much better than my avantis and perform better than I thought they would. Problem is, everybody else playing hockey with these things cut about two inches or so off the top to enable better maneuvering. I haven't been able to convince myself to self modify 150$ fins. Anybody got some old used ones? I'll give ya 50 bucks

This is the second pair of fins I've owned. I was hesitant to buy full foot. ( I am a dive instructor so a comfortable pair, easy to get into, is very important) I Love these fins. Not only are they very comfortable but they are superb underwater. Great for swimming in a current. I can easily out swim anyone, which is great when I need to swim after a student :) Another bonus is that they are great for snorkelling. My previous fins were full foot and I hated snorkelling with them. I like that these are good all around fins. I will be buying some 3mm socks just because I will be in slightly cooler water (24'C) but using them in warm water above 25'C they are fine as is. can't recommend these fins enough.

Beware: Do not get this if you have narrow feet. If you wear shoe size 13-14, not have narrow feet then this fin size 11-12 will fit well. If you wear shoe size 12-13 then it is bit loose even with aqua socks on. It is loose as in "wobble" around as it can come off if you kick hard. But, why would you wear aqua socks since it defeats purpose of wearing this full footed fin barefoot?!? Honestly, I had to return these fins because it does not fit me right. I wanted these fins so I do not have to bring booties when I dive some place warm or swim/dive in a pool. The fins were way too long and heavy for my traveling needs. I have the Mares XTreme (very light with regular length) and Hollis F2 fins (short in size). These are really nice set of fins once it fits your foot right!! The fins feels similar to Mares Xtreme but bit longer. It is stiff and not flimsy at all! You can see these are powerful fins due to how it is made. The fins are quite long similar to free dive fins but not as long but bit wider. If you are traveling with them then you might be limited to what might fit in your luggage or bag. The fins were slight heavy around 4-5lbs. It just might take away your luggage weight allowance! It is really great quality product!!!! I was impressed!!!

I have owned my pair of Avanti Quattro Power FF fins for over 12 years. They are outstanding to this day. I used them primarily for boat diving since not wearing a boot is required - long walks over a reef or along a beach would suck barefoot. I have to be honest, the initial phase of breaking these bad boys in was so painful. However, it was not too long before I completely forgot about the blisters and discomfort (yes, while diving) and just enjoyed my dives. I used the Mares Quattro Open Heel fins to teach, but if I could get away with these FF fins, I will pick them every time. They are comfy without socks, fairly easy to slip on and off - I can usually do it standing up at the edge of the dive platform on a boat right before giant striding into the clear, blue water of the Pacific. If you are new to these fins, don't be discouraged with the blistering break-in process...these fins are worth every waterproof blister bandaid you will ever buy. 1000% worth it.

This is the best model of fins as far as I know, for warm up to 50 degrees water. They are good for scuba diving (very fast and efficient) and also for snorkeling and for free diving to a certain degree. I can swim very fast with them even carrying a tank in my back and a big video camera.

My friends wearing these were swimming up current with relative ease, while I was just kicking and kicking with my fairly rigid but split jet fins (which I loved for 15 years). Now I feel like I'm kicking barefoot with my old fins on. Definitely takes some leg muscles…often us newbies will cramp while building up the slightly different muscles used with this type of fin. Also takes some practice and getting used to…and requires extra caution in the reef not to kick anything or stir up the silt due to their length and power

Efficient, powerful fins. Use less air when using these fins. Neutral, they may feel and look a bit long, but you don't notice that in the water except for their efficiency. Don't hang them by their heels, will damage the foot pocket.

I dive professionally in the Florida Keys. These are my favorite fins. They have become hard to find. Hopefully Mares will keep making them!

These fins are not for everyone. They are big and heavy but they outperform virtually everything on the market. Their rubber inserts form a naturally curved pocket funnelling the thrust down off their end which is what gives them their power. If you don't have strong legs go for one of the smaller and or softer fins available. Their sizing is too large so it is best to drop to the next size grouping down from yours especially if you are in the low end of that size group.

I have a size 9 1/2 foot and found the size 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 fin was a perfect fit, with just enough room for 2.5 mm Cressi booties. This combination was very comfortable and the longish blade provided lots of thrust for free-diving. I'm looking forward to trying these fins at underwater hockey!

i am a size 10-10.5, and they were slightly big. used a 2mm neoprene sock, would have fit a 5mm too. slightly heavy and long for caribbean travel, but worth hauling them. GREAT pair of fins. so fast and very efficient.

These fins are great. They get you through the water fast. They are somewhat heavy for travel. Mine (size 6 1/2 - 7 1/2) weigh around six pounds. Also, I purchased fin socks to wear with my fins because although I wear size 7 1/2 shoes, the 6 1/2-7 1/2 fins were too large to wear without the socks and I got blisters. With the fin socks, they're comfortable, and I don't think you will be disappointed with this product.

I have owned these fins for a couple of years now, before that I used the Mares Avanti Tre (a weaker, cheaper version) for freediving and spearfishing. Prior to shelling out more than a hundred bucks I decided to go scientific about it. I purchased: an Esclapez with a plastic blade, a [$] fiber Omer Pegaso and compared them with Avanti Tre and Quattro. Esclapez had an excellent footpocket but it was a mismatch with a plastic blade that felt like something out of place. Omer had a universal footpocket with removal blades; it was stiff and uncomfortable, not recommended for people with high instep. Mares footpocket was excellent, albeit sizing between Tre and Quattro was different. If you are size 11 and wear a 3mm neoprene sock, go with the largest size for both Tre and Quattro. So my test consisted of two parts: an all out 50 yards diving with registering time an a pulse rate and a 1000 yards surface swimming. For 50 yards diving Esclapez an Tre were out of contention, so the fight was between a fiber Pegaso and rubber Quattro. Pegaso gave 1/10th of a second advantage and about 5 heart beats more per 10 seconds interval. That tells me - you will be burning way more oxygen with Omer Pegaso. Not to mention the comfort level, but that is individual. Of course, the stroke technique is quite different with fiber/carbon blades - more of an ankle work versus rubber fins where an almost all foot is engaged. For the second part (distance swimming) it was no comparison - both Tre and Quattro are way more comfortable than Pegaso and Esclapez. Pegaso is not suitable for surface swimming due to a blade angle - it is a 'vertical' fin for boat drop-offs. So I stopped torturing myself pretty quickly with Pegaso during a second part of the test.So at the end it was no-brainer - Quattro is cheaper, more efficient (for me!), suitable for surface and vertical and way lower maintenance - fiber/carbon blades are fragile. I went below a 100 feet in Quattros and Tres and fins have NEVER been a limiting factor for me. I also swam more than 2 miles during my spearing sessions. For reference: when I was doing my tests, I could do a 1000 yards butterfly kick with a kickboard and no fins in about 20-21 minutes (I was a competitive swimmer for many years), so people with weaker legs might find fiber/carbon blades better. So do your own tests if you can. But if you go off the shore, and especially if you need to swim a long distance to your point(s) of interest, Quattro is by far your best bet. This model has been in production for many years and for a very good reason!Hope this helps, happy hunting!

I used this product as my every day fins to in my dive operation for my personal use. Very durable but heavy, and when diving every day many times a day sometimes it gets tricky. Now, they are extremely powerful and excellent quality material. But it did take some blisters to get used to it. Now I go for a light fin and my Mares Avanti are in the closet. Would I recommend them: yes. They are a good product if you don't care for them being heavy. Apart from that, they are great for chasing divers around and give you the power needed.

I noticed on most live-a-board trips I took, guides used a long or spear diving fin. Got this fin 3-years ago. Best dive gear investments made. Even with dive socks, it's less weight and bulk to carry compared to boots and open fins. It did cause a problem once when a dive took us onto a rocky island beach shore. Be aware of where your trip will be. 99% of the time, it has been worth it.

Great Underwater Sport Fin
By Jorge
If you are an underwater sports enthusiast and have strong legs and ankles I would recommend these fins to you. I have used softer/shorter fins for underwater hockey and almost invariably my kick would bend them out of shape. With the Quattro I can use a full dolphin kick to get the most out of my legs work. I have been using these fins daily for the past month and I am very satisfied. Whenever your ankle tires out, give it a rest as the fins are rather taxing on the ankles. I would recommen...

Mares Avanti Quattro Power, Ultimate Channel Thrust Fin for Speed, Power and Fun-In-the-Water.
The best all-around full foot fin for diving. The Avanti Quattro Power is perfect for warm water divers, snorkelers and free divers that want ultimate power, comfort and speed. The choice of demanding scuba and free divers, who want comfort combined with extraordinary performance. Channel Thrust technology maximizes the channeling of water and moves a much greater amount of water compared to other fins of the same size.
The result is greater thrusting power with the same amount of effort. Latest development in channel thrust is the super-channel. The blade is designed with a large flexible central Super-channel propelling water-flow more efficiently down the fin blade instead of letting it spill over the sides for optimal performance and minimal diver effort. Vertical ribs that anchor the blade through the kick cycle to eliminate side to side wobbling effect, keeping your kicks stable and reducing power loss, and will help eliminate ankle-twisting phenomena. Fin comes in multiple sizes, and colors, overall fin length is 28" to 29.5" (71cm to 75.5cm) and weights 4.2 lbs. to 5.2 lbs. (1.92 kg to 2.35 kg). Regular size has a blade surface area of 148.8 cubic inches (960 cubic centimeters).
