I wear a size 9 shoe and wear a Lycra sock in the fin. With that sock they are not tight all over but don't slide. I could use a 2 mm neoprene sock for snug fit. Great fins

I wear a 8.5 to 9.0 shoe close to E width, normally buy D width and they work just fine. Ordered the 42 in black that is listed as 9-10 size. That is the size I was supposed to order. Fit perfect with "Head" Lycra sock. Mares foot pocket is the best for my feet. Perfect for Snorkeling. I don't think they were intended for diving with full gear. Flexible. Not a short fin, total 25 inches with foot pocket. About same length blade as US Divers (Deep See) open heal. and older Mares (Frontier) full foot. Let me add to the fit. I never ever wear fins without a Lycra sock or 2 mm bootee or both with open heals. Your asking for sore feet or cramps, Besides getting the fins on and off is a pain. The 2 mm booties are a must for open heals and they also can adjust for fit for either type of fin that feel large. I live in Florida, snorkel a lot. Have been Diving /Snorkeling 40 years. Will put them through rigorous use. At this price can't go wrong.

Review Mares Wave Full Foot Fins

Both my wife and I got a pair of these fins, we where looking for some lighter travel fins and they seemed to fit fine at home. But after 3 days of diving our feet were blistered and sore. Wish we got the strap type instead.

Purchased two pair and love them

I did a ton of research before buying these. Based several days of research I determined the Mares Wave is one of the best fins you can buy under $100. We just did a field test and they lived up to the hype. We purchased two pair, one for me, and one for my wife and the sizing is spot on. They fit like a glove when used with Akona 2mm dive socks. I wear these primarily for snorkeling, but they would work just fine for diving. The are very comfortable (with dive socks) and provide surprising amount of thrust. Highly recommend. I would purchase these again.

Mares Wave fins review

18 dives during dive trip on the Sun Dancer III in Belize. Fins worked fine, slightly better than my 4 year old fins. I use the full foot fins with neopreme socks.

Would never buy them again

Bought these last season and went through my open water and advanced certification, found then a little challenging to get on in the surf. Just completed my rescue dive course and they broke in half just passed the side reinforced area. Lousy design, and not at all happy that after only 30 dives they are ruined.

Not all that, but a decent compact fin

Bought these as a travel fin, mostly because the price was extremely reasonable, and they are relatively small- and I tend to be more comfortable in non-rental gear. On the one trip I used them (11 dives) I had few complaints, but that may be because they fit my style...I'm not a person who believes in covering as much territory as possibly on a tank of air...I tend to like the back of the pack position, and branch off when I see something interesting...so for the pro's, they are a good value and get you there...for the cons, both of my other sets of fins get me their easier and more quickly....all in all a decent value...

Spend extra $20, upgrade to Superchannel

I own Mares Superchannels, which are great fins, so I had high expectations when I ordered the new Waves. Unfortunately the Wave fins do not posses the same pedigree as their older sibling. These fins are stiff and slow. I was comparing them to the Superchannels side by side in a pool and right away they felt a lot slower in the water and my calves started hurting. I had to exert a lot more energy to swim a lap. I was relived to switch back to my old fins. The bottom line is this: in the water the Superchannels "disappear", it is as if they become a natural extension of your foot. With the Wave fins you always feel them dragging behind you making you uncomfortable. The end result is that you fatigue much quicker, which in a real diving situation can result in a nasty cramp. Mares did NOT do a good job with the Waves. I would recommend spending a little more and upgrading to something better.

It's not the best fins from Mares

I used to swim in Oceanic X-caribe fins, and I do about 40-50 laps twice a week in a swimming pool. But after 5 years of perfect workout with Oceanic I had to get a new pair, to my greatest disapointment Oceanic discontinued that model. I've chosen this fins as a substitution, but I have to admit it's not even close. These fins are way less comfortable, more bulky. Firstly I felt clumsy in them, in a while I found a balance, as well as a way how to handle a fact that they are extremely wide in a heal. When I swim in a lake Tahoe I even had to wear a pair of socks to avoid a possibility to lose them in waves. It's really average fins. Not the best choice for pro and advanced snorkeling and diving.

Awesome snorkeling fins!

Comfortable and powerful. Really make a difference when swimming in ocean currents, versus the mostly recreational level fins I have used in the past. Note that they run a bit large, I wear a 10.5 shoe, but the 10-11 size was WAY too big, Leisure Pro was awesome with the return and the next size down fit snugly but comfortably.

Great snorkel fins!

These are great snorkel fins. I bought them primarily for travel. They are remarkably light weight. But these fins give a lot of power in the water, having a long narrow design (but still fit) in my suitcase). These full foot fin are very comfortable. I don't need to wear a sock with them. I have been wearing them daily o our present trip with no hot spots on my feet. I do have narrow feet and they fit well. I couldn't put a bootie on with them in my correct shoe size, so if this is something you want, size up. I am very pleased with these fins. They give a lot of power with little strain on my legs. I would recommend these fins for an advanced recreational snorkel fin.

Nice Fin

Used this fin on a recent vacation. It is lightweight good for packing. It worked great for snorkling and I also did 2 dives and it worked well for that also. More of a snorkle fin than a diving fin. Fit great and comfortable.

Nice comfy fins

Nice open heel fin. Very efficient. I kept looking back at my dive buddy and having to slow down until I got used to them. Stiff enough for good control. The button release takes a bit of getting used to but it's manageable. Will probably replace with spring straps at some point.

Great in strong currents

Took these to Cozumel and they embarrassed my friend's splitfins, especially in strong current. The Wave's are light, stiff, have a wide flat blade, and tall/deep stringers to keep water overflow to a minimum. Three of our DM/instructors had negative things to say about splitfins for Cozumel's strong currents. I still love my Atomic Splitfins, but didn't bring them for comparison.

The overall design of the Wave FF is strongly influenced by the development of the blade. Based on Mares Channel Thrust Technology, it envelopes a large volume of water in the central area, which is then propelled out generating thrust with high efficiency. The three material constructions allowed Mares to select the best possible TPR for the foot pocket and thus obtain the highest comfort, while

applying materials with the best elastic properties for the blade aiming at reaching the highest performance.

The Blade of the Wave Full Foot Fins is manufactured from Techno-Polymers and has a blade length of 14 17" (36 cm). The Channel Thrust Technology incorporates soft longitudinal inserts that allow a controlled deformation of the fin blade while kicking. This channel shape moves a greater amount of water resulting in more thrust for the same effort.
