I bought the bandit 55 as a travel gun for a recent trip (already have two mares guns for home use)While the machining on the shaft seems cruder than other Mares guns and the wishbone is made of dyneema rather than stainless, the bandit performs just fine as a travel/beginner gun. I never tested the safety, so i can’t comment on how well it works on these guns. IMPORTANT: The length of the guns/shafts are NOT correctly documented in Mares literature. A bandit 55 shaft measures 35”, while the gun measures 33"

My first spearfishing gun was a 65cm Cressi Camacho. I was quick and easy reloads but the shooting distance was a bit short. I missed several shots just because of that. Glad I found this 75cm Mares Badits at a much affordable price. I?Äôve taken it down to spearfishing twice already. So far, no complaints. The shooting distance was about right for the opaleye and white sea bass. Not sure if I ever want to go back to use my first spearfishing gun.

This gun seemed great until I used it a bit and it oddly misfired after the safety was working strangely; sticky and wouldn't go back to safe. The second time this happened I was very aware of everything and it fired as I was trying to get the safety back to safe after having it on fire for a dive down. The gun was for my wife to use too, and she was very gun shy after misfires as was the pal we were swimming with.

Not only did I feel like one of the 300 spartan worriors when I unwrapped this speargun, but now I slaughter fish at a consistent rate. The accuracy and dead shot action this gun gives is unparalleled, a few friends bought more expensive guns at the same time as I did and they became so frustrated that they gave up the hobby all together, leaving me a lone wolf out on the seas. I adore the ease this product offers and the easy and quick reload for when those little buggers narrowly escape my line of fire. I truly love everything about this product being a beginner and I have recommended it to all my up and coming soldiers. The first few weeks took some getting used to but now I've become accustomed to the technique of aim, don't hesitate and bring home the fish with a nice slight hole in the side of its head. This is my first spear gun purchase and I never looked back, I cannot wait for the aftermath of this hurricane Mathew to dissolve so I can get back in the water and take on new adventures against the wild fish of south Florida. Thank you guys so much for this opportunity to tell the world about my love for the Mares Bandit

I just got my hands on the mares bandit 55 cm the gun feels very solid very user friendly, the gun is quite accurate , the tip holds up well against rocks and the ability to switch the power on the fly is nice as well , the only con for me is the safty is a little loose and can slide back to the safe position if tilted too far to the left. I myself bagged 2 nice carp and 1 sucker tonight after receiving the gun. The gun came rigged up and was ready to go as soon as I opened the box

Designed for beginners and is just as suitable for intermediate spear fishers, the Mares Bandit Spearguns feature an Australasian rigging, is constructed with a Dyneema wishbone for increased safety, has a Tahitian tri-cut tip 7mm finned spear shaft, shark clip with swivel for easy float line attachment, and a rubber line bungee that helps reduce spear recoil. The Bandit speargun also features a closed muzzle with power up option, extended loading plate, over-molded comfort ergonomic handle for left-or-right-hand use and guided rail in the 110cm and 120cm (43.3" and 47.25") models for optimum accuracy. The guns barrel is made from durable corrosion resistant anodized aluminum. For added safety the Bandit Speargun is equipped with a trigger lock mechanism. The Bandit uses a highly durable, stainless steel firing mechanism that ensures great reliability over time. The speargun comes with a 16mm S-Power circular sling with the capability of adding an additional sling for added power. Speargun is available in sizes from 35cm to 120cm (13.78" to 47.25"). The Mares Bandit speargun is an excellent choice for both beginner and intermediate divers who are looking for a performance speargun that is easy and comfortable to use, and won't break the bank.
