BRYAN C : How does this compare, warmth-wise, to the Sharkskin Titanium 2 or the Bare ExoWear?darrick c : Hello Bryan, the SharkSkin Titanium should give you the warmth of a 5mm thickness. The Lavacore and the Bare items would only give you around 2mm of warmth.
Athanasios S : How thick is this shirt? How many mm?Nick D : I'm not exactly sure. I would say 1 to 1.5 mm. It does seem to be neutrally buoyant. Plus it's very toasty. I used mostly in tropics and it worked great.BRYAN W : Not sure of the actual thickness, I will guess 2mm. I'm currently using mine in Cozumel. it's a nice garment. But it is a bit tight. I'm slender and used their sizing guide for my choice of size.YAN G : Lavacore is not neoprene. Its a fleece lined material. As far as warmth goes, it compares to a 1.5-2mm neoprene.

It will keep you warm underwater, but also is much cooler on the surface than a typical wetsuit because it keeps water pressed against your skin. It has a snug fit but it should fit comfortable around an average size neck.WILLIAM P : I did not have a problem with tightness. I believe I ordered a large. Typically I order a large of extra large. My neck size is 16.5 in a dress shirt. Since I wear a tie typically I may not be real sensitive to the issue. I liked the product it has no bouancy. I do not know how warm it really is as I used in in the summer in the Bahamas. It's a little thicker then a rash guard. The only issue I have with it is it does ride up a little. I wish they had the flap on the bottom to lock it in place instead of the elastic draw string.

Comfy and warm. Bit tight under arms.

I normally wear a woman's size 12. I ordered a 12 MD. I hear the lavacore will stretch, but right now it is quite tight under the arms. I've only worn it twice. While it isn't good to have a too large fit, the tight fit is sort of annoying. The warmth is good. I was snorkling for 2 hours with it on- and did not get cold. The water temperature was a nice 84 F, but after 2 hours I'd normally be cold. It is soft and fuzzy inside. Nice. I was worried about it taking days to dry- but after rinsed it out, and hung it on line, it was dry by the next morning. All set to use again.

Lavacore Men's Long Sleeve Hooded vest

May run slightly small, got the large and it is a little tighter than I thought it would be, which will help to go under a full 3mil. Especially like that it is neutrally bouyant.

Ordrer larger than you think

I had to return the 3X size. I have a 46" chest and the 3x was far too small. Very hard to get into, impossible to get out of. Probably a good idea. I might order a 4x if it's available

When I first opened the package I thought maybe I bought the wrong product. Somewhat difficult to get on, especially when dry (but slips right on and off like as t-shirt, when wet). But my first use was a pleasant suprise. Wore all day in 85* sunny weather both in the water and out, mostly for sun protection. I think wearing this (wet) in the sun is actually cooler than wearing no shirt at all. I selected this item specifically because the attached hood, which I like to pull over my headstrap for my GoPro camera mount to ensure that I won't lose my camera.

Gr8 for Shore Dives n add-on Deep Dives

Used in combination with my Henderson 5mm half suit to add warmth to my head for those deep tropical dives past 100'. Great by itself for warm water shore dives... worked nicely on a recent shore dive on Oahu down to 49'. Kept me warm and toasty for 48 minutes underwater. Added weight was negligible. From a sizing perspective... I'm 5'6", 190 lbs, 46" chest, and 38" waist so I purchased the XL shirt. Girth wise it was a perfect fit but the length was a bit long. The bottom of the torso hangs a little over my butt which isn't really an issue. Likewise the arm length is ~1" too long but it doesn't affect my dives negatively. I may ask my wife to trim down the sleeves someday but for now it works as is. Enjoy the dive.

Works well

Works well as an alternative to neoprene. Easy to don/doff, even when damp or wet. I dive this with a Fourth Element Thermocline john and am fine in waters 76F+. I add a 3 mil shorty for waters down to 72F or for the 3rd or 4th dive in one day. I love thus stuff.

OUTER Lycia layer is a 6.35 oz./10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) knitted nylon wrap knit Tricot with water repellant treatment to ensure fast water runoff and anti wind chill properties.

INTER layer is an impermeable breathable micro-porous high stretch polyurethane (PU) film which is wind proof and breathable allowing perspiration to be drawn away in hot conditions.

INNER Fleece layer is a 8.47 oz./10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) 4 way stretch polyester fleece with elastane. It has anti pill treatment, as well as anti-microbial treatment to reduce odors and eliminate bacteria.

Lavacore is neutrally buoyant so you won't need to add weight to your weight system compromising your weight comfort zone. Full gusset incorporated into the underarms offer exceptional arm movement and stretch and all seams are overlapped during flat-lock sewing to ensure maximum water integrity and strength. Men's Long Sleeve Hooded Shirt has extended material in the rear to keep vests and shirts from riding up the back.
