Good speartip for smaller fishes like snappers/grouper. I recommend changing the nylon thread though. I cought a 2 lb snapper and next thing I know a Barrcuda had got his jaws around it. He swallowed the fish and tip in one go, one bite and it was all gone. so if you planning on keeping your fish then changing it to a wire is a must(on any spear tip really)

a friend let me use this slip tip when we went free diving on some bridges and it was great!! everyfish i shot i got! never lost one! we were pole spearing and you shoot and swim up and the fish isnt going to come off its great! pulling out is kinda tricky tho because you release the cable and pull it through so hold on to your fish or kill it but it does less damage and works every time!

This was a bit more cheesy than I expected. The shaft is very thin. The tip is also held on with just a piece of rubber that you jam it onto, which leaves you with the option of either having it seem to be just barely on or on extremely tight, so I'd worry about a fish actually pulling being able to pull it off to engage it.

This item was to large to enter a fish effectively !! It wouldn't go all the way thru because of the wire that holds the point.

second to none. these tips are the best and work great with a thrashing fish, so as not to bend and control your pole spear.

This has become one of my better tips for spearfishing and it works well with the JBL travel pole. However, while it penetrates well, it significantly increases the level arm of the tip with a struggling fish. On the first day I had one small grouper snap the end of my JBL polespear right off in open water (at the threads!!). With no float line on the slip tip cable (it comes attached to the tip itself), the fish, slip tip, 14" ice-pick type extension and aluminum pole-tip all end headed for the bottom. (Pretty weird).I recovered all, but changed the cable to attach to a float line (instead of the tip base) for all future uses. This also makes getting the slip tip out of the fish easier later.
