Shopper : Does this item come with cable or nylon chord?PAUL W : this item comes with the PVC coated Wire Stand shown in the image. the small rubber band is also included but will eventually wear out. Easily replaced with average rubber band. Shopper : Will this tip fit on other pole spears other than jbl?Steve S : As long as the other pole spears have 6mm threads this will work well.DMITRY S : It is a standard 6mm thread, so it is pretty universal. I am not using it on a JBL spear. If going after fish under 15 lbs or so, I recommend replacing the cable with 200lb Bow fishing string. The cable tears up some meat on smaller fish. Great tip though, been using since I bought it exclusively. If you hunt against a lot of rocks bring 2 on a trip in case one gets blunted, which takes many direct rock hits.HERB O : yes, as long as threads match.JOESPH P : yes you just gotta know what the thread pattern is I think there's three different sizes. but I got two of them that went on two different spears

I have the same JBL gold, breakdown polespear. it will thread right onto the end. IT IS GREAT! honestly, the only pain in the butt is getting the fish off once it is skewered!ROBERT G : Yes, it's a 6mm thread. I haven't seen any adapters either that convert 5/16 to a 6mm.RANDY W : Not sure if it does as I don't know what mm threads his pole spear takes. Good slip tip

Good speartip for smaller fishes like snappers/grouper. I recommend changing the nylon thread though. I cought a 2 lb snapper and next thing I know a Barrcuda had got his jaws around it. He swallowed the fish and tip in one go, one bite and it was all gone. so if you planning on keeping your fish then changing it to a wire is a must(on any spear tip really)

best ever

a friend let me use this slip tip when we went free diving on some bridges and it was great!! everyfish i shot i got! never lost one! we were pole spearing and you shoot and swim up and the fish isnt going to come off its great! pulling out is kinda tricky tho because you release the cable and pull it through so hold on to your fish or kill it but it does less damage and works every time!

A bit cheesy

This was a bit more cheesy than I expected. The shaft is very thin. The tip is also held on with just a piece of rubber that you jam it onto, which leaves you with the option of either having it seem to be just barely on or on extremely tight, so I'd worry about a fish actually pulling being able to pull it off to engage it.

Not worth the $ !!!

This item was to large to enter a fish effectively !! It wouldn't go all the way thru because of the wire that holds the point.

Great penetration.

This has become one of my better tips for spearfishing and it works well with the JBL travel pole. However, while it penetrates well, it significantly increases the level arm of the tip with a struggling fish. On the first day I had one small grouper snap the end of my JBL polespear right off in open water (at the threads!!). With no float line on the slip tip cable (it comes attached to the tip itself), the fish, slip tip, 14" ice-pick type extension and aluminum pole-tip all end headed for the bottom. (Pretty weird).I recovered all, but changed the cable to attach to a float line (instead of the tip base) for all future uses. This also makes getting the slip tip out of the fish easier later.

Good, functional pole spear tip

This is an affordable, functional, effective pole spear slip-tip. Works well on our local Lings, Cabezon, and rockfish.

Slip tips add versatility to a pole spear. A slip tip allows the use of a pole spear with larger fish and those that will put up a bit of a fight without the worry of damaging your pole spear. A slip tip is attached to a cable that once you have penetrated the fish with the spear the tip like a spear guns break-away tip is tethered on a cable and breaks free from the poles shaft, allowing the cable to absorb the energy of the thrashing fish and not the pole.

Slip Tips do wear out and eventually get dull. You need not replace the entire mechanism when this occurs you need only to replace the tip. JBL's 3" (76mm) Slip Tip Point is for the JBL890 Complete 14" (356mm) Slip Tip. The Rock Tip Point is made from hardened 17-4 stainless. The tips rear fixed barbs cause the point to turn sideways after entering the fish so it will hang on no matter how hard the fight while minimizing damage to your pole spear shaft. The low-profile design allows for pinpoint accuracy and dependable deployment. Don't trust a once in a lifetime fish to anything else. Great save-a-dive-kit item.
